Abstract

A process for drinking wastepaper with an aqueous system, which comprises:
(a) contacting wastepaper with an aqueous system which contains an agent selected from the group consisting of:
(i) a mixture of one or more guaternary ammonium salts and one or more smectite-type clays; and (ii) one or more organically modified smectite-type clays; and (b) recovering deinked paper pulp from the aqueous system.
