Abstract

A radio or speaker-microphone unit (10) includes a housing having first (11) and second (12) portions. A speaker (22) is disposed in one of the portions and a microphone (23) in the other of the portions. The portions are movable between first and second relative positions, with one or the positions providing a handset configuration and the other providing a speaker-microphone configuration. A switch senses the relative position of the housing portions and adjusts the gain of an audio amplifier.
