Abstract

Abstract A grinding apparatus (10), in particular for vibrating grinding of the surface of a pipe (25) or the like, exhibits a holding element (12), which is designed with at least an approximately semi-round, cylindrical opening (18), whose interior has attachment means for securing the grinding tool. A cavity (14), which forms the opening (18), is affixed to the holding element (12); and a Velcro fastener strip (16), by means of which sand paper that is also provided with a Velcro fastener, can be attached removeably, is attached as the attachment means for the grinding tool to the interior of the cavity (14). In addition, the holding element (12) is dimensioned in accordance with the grinding plate (23) of a hand grinder (20) and has on its underside a Velcro fastener strip (12'), which can be attached to the grinding plate (23). With this grinding apparatus according to the invention, workpieces, like pipes, profiles, squared timber or the like, can be ground, cleaned, polished or also roughened in a very simple and economical manner.

Claims (10)

1. Grinding apparatus, for grinding the surface of an approximately cylindrical or a shaped workpiece, comprising a holding element and a grinding tool, which is provided preferably as sand paper and can be attached to said holding element, wherein at least one approximately semi-round, cylindrical opening (18, 48', 54') or an opening, whose cross section corresponds to the shape of the workpiece and whose interior has attachment means to secure the grinding tool, is designed at the holding element (12, 49, 52).
2. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein there is a holding element (12, 49, 52) and one or several cavities (14, 48, 54), which form the opening (18, 48' 54') and are attached to said holding element, and Velcro fastener strips (16, 46, 55), affixed as attachment means to the internal ends or to the entire interior of the cavity (14, 48, 54), and by means of which the sand paper, whose rear side is also provided with a Velcro fastener, can be attached removeably.
3. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the holding element (12, 49, 52) exhibits attachment means for affixing removeably to a vibrating hand grinder (20), whereby the latter produces the reciprocating linear or orbital vibrational movement.
4. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 3, wherein the holding element (12) is dimensioned in accordance with the grinding plate (23) of the hand grinder (20) and exhibits a Velcro fastener strip (12'), which serves as the attachment means and is attached to the grinding plate (23).
5. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sand paper (45) is laid around a cylindrical, oval, rectangular or other shaped workpiece (41) and fastened detachably to said workpiece; and the holding element (12) with a cavity (14) forming a semi-round opening (18) is attached at the circumference of the sand paper; and thus the workpiece (41) can be ground, polished, cleaned or roughened over its entire circumference in one working step.
6. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 5, wherein the sand paper (45) is fastened detachably around the workpiece (41) by a band (40) enveloping said sand paper, whereby the band (40) forms internally and externally an interacting Velcro fastener, by means of which said band secures the sand paper (45) on the inside; and, first of all, on the outside it can be affixed in the opening (18) of the holding element (12) and secondly it forms a self-attachment by overlapping its two ends.
7. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein there is a grinding apparatus (43), which exhibits a cavity (48), whose cross section is angular and in whose opening (48) sand paper (47) can be inserted, whereby the radius (47') formed by said sand paper, can be varied and adapted exactly to the actual roundness of the workpiece.
8. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein two or more openings (18), which stretch in the direction of movement of the grinding feed, are assigned to the holding element (12).
9. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein for processing smaller workpiece diameters, tubular, semi-round inserts, which can be inserted into the cavity and are shaped so as to match said cavity, are provided with interior and exterior Velcro fastener strips that are held on the outside on the cavity or on the outer insert; and on the inside they secure the sand paper or a smaller insert.
10. Grinding apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the holding element (32) is designed as a handle for manual grinding, cleaning or polishing of pipes or rods that are provided as workpieces or can be attached to a handle.
