Abstract
A low profile liquid crystal projector unit (10) and a method of using it to project an image with substantially no keystoning effects.
An optics arrangement directs high intensity light within a housing along a path through a liquid crystal display panel (12) at an angle offset from a normal axis of the panel. The liquid crystal panel is inclined within the housing and an output mirror (24) mounted above the housing is inclined angularly opposite to the liquid crystal panel and cooperates with a lens set (71-75) for projecting the image onto a remote surface (60). The output mirror is mounted to reflect the image at an angle to the normal of the remote surface substantially equal to the angle the light path is offset from the normal of the panel.
An optics arrangement directs high intensity light within a housing along a path through a liquid crystal display panel (12) at an angle offset from a normal axis of the panel. The liquid crystal panel is inclined within the housing and an output mirror (24) mounted above the housing is inclined angularly opposite to the liquid crystal panel and cooperates with a lens set (71-75) for projecting the image onto a remote surface (60). The output mirror is mounted to reflect the image at an angle to the normal of the remote surface substantially equal to the angle the light path is offset from the normal of the panel.
