Abstract

A non-venting valve (3) and dispensing package (1) for fluid products and the like includes a container (2) of the type having an interior volume which reduces as fluid product is dispensed from the package (1). A self-sealing dispensing valve (3) has a marginal portion (4) sealing about an associated discharge opening (5) in the container (2), and a valve head (6) with an orifice (7) which shifts between open and closed positions in response to the application and release of pressure on and/or within the container (2). A vent resisting member (8) retains the orifice (7) in the closed position after each dispensing of fluid product from the container (2) to prevent ambient air from being drawn back through the orifice (7) into the container (2).
