Abstract

A packaging apparatus (10) for feeding and loading a continuous strip of bag s (24) that includes an integrated printer assembly (22) for printing information on each individual bag of the continuous strip (24). The printer assembly (22) is pivotally mounted to a support frame (14) and receives the continuous strip of bags (24) from a bag feed assembly. The packaging apparatus (10) includes a bag feeding assembly (16) having a drive roller (3 0) and a platen roller (32) driven from a common motor (40). The drive roller (30) advances the continuous strip of bags (24) through the apparatus (10), while the platen roller (32) is in contact with the print head (144) and printer ribbon (146) to advance the printer ribbon (146) when the bags are being printed. The packaging apparatus (10) includes a bag tensioning assemb ly (20) that supports the supply roll (26) of bags and maintains tension on the bags as the bags are advanced through the device.
