Abstract

An intramedullary nail for proximal femur fracture fixation comprises a femur nail (1a) which can be proximally inserted into the medullary canal of the femur, a femur neck screw (10a) that can be laterally inserted into the femur nail (1a) through a bore (7a) that extends obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the femur nail (1a), and a locking element (16a) with at least one branch (18a) which is approximately parallel to the axis of the femur neck screw (10a). An interlocking connection between the locking element (16a) and a groove (8a) in the bore (7a) of the femur nail (1a) secures the femur neck screw (10a) against rotation while enabling it to be axially displaced in the bore (7a) of the femur nail (1a).

Claims (16)

1. Intramedullary nail for the fixation of fractures of the proximal femur, with installation of a proximal end femur nail into the intramedullary area of the femur and of a femur neck screw by diagonally running a borehole from the side, to the longitudinal axis of the femur nail, inside it, whereby axial movement of the femur neck screw in the borehole of the femur nails is achieved making possible twisting lock, whereby the femur neck screw exhibits at least one longitudinal groove running in the axial direction and a locking element with at least one on the side, arranged almost parallel to the axis of the femur neck screw, into the longitudinal groove of the femur neck screw, characterized in that a twisting lock by a positive connection between the locking element (16a, 16b) and the femur nail (1a, 1b, 1c) and between the locking element (16a, 16b) and the femur neck screw(10a, 10b) is formed.
2. Intramedullary nail according to claim 1, characterized in that at least two axial longitudinal slots (13a, 13b) and at least two branches (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d) are provided.
3. Intramedullary nail according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the bore (7a, 7b, 7c) is also running in the axial direction of the running slots (8a, 8b, 8c) by the locking element (16a, 16b) incorporating into the intramedullary nail according to claims.
4. Intramedullary nail according to claim 3, characterized in that the slots are arranged in the bore (7a, 7b, 7c) of the femur nail (1a, 1b, 1c) in a number and relative position following the longitudinal slots (13a, 13b) in the femur neck screw (10a, 10b).

Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the locking element (16b) exhibits more branches (18b, 18d) than slots (8b) in the bore (7b) of the femur nail (1b) whereby at least one branch (18b) in a groove (8b) in the bore (7b) of the femur nail (1b) and at least one branch (18d), - preferably the same - of the femur neck screw (10b) is guided in a longitudinal groove (13b).
6. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the depth of the longitudinal slots (13a, 13b) in the femur neck screw (10a, 10b) decreases toward the distal end.
7. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the depth of the individual longitudinal slots (13a, 13b) is different.
8. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the height of the branch (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d) of the locking element (16a, 16b) measured in radial direction (h) increases to the distal end - if necessary, gradually.
9. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the number of longitudinal slots (13a) exceeds the number of branches (18a) of the locking element (16a).
10. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the branches (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d) of the locking element (16a, 16b) are evenly arranged distributed over its length.
11. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the branches (18a) of the locking element (16a) are unevenly arranged distributed over the extent, whereby the branches (18a) on average preferably look like parts of a V, an X or a Y.
12. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the locking element (16b) exhibits three branches (18c).
13. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the branches (18a, 18b) of the locking element (16a, 16b) at their proximal end are connected by a circular collar (17a, 17b) or by a disk.
14. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a safety element is provided for the axial safety of the locking element.
15. Intramedullary nail according to claim 11, characterized in that the safety element is designed as screw mounting (20) threaded by the collar (17a, 17b) into the proximal end of the femur neck screw (10a, 10b).
16. Intramedullary nail according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the femur nail (1a, 1b, 1c), the femur neck screw (10a, 10b), the locking element (16a, 16b) and the safety element (20) consist of titanium alloys and/or implant steel.
