Abstract

The invention relates to a hip-joint prosthesis comprising a shaft (3) that can be inserted into the femur, the surface of said shaft being provided with an osteoinductive agent. Said agent is provided exclusively in the metaphysial section (5) of the shaft (3) and laterally in relation to the line (7) of the greatest anterior-posterior dimension of the shaft cross-section. The metaphysial spongiosa is thus more effectively integrated into the distribution of forces, without detrimentally affecting the re-operability of the prosthesis.

Claims (8)

1. Hip-joint prosthesis with a shaft (3) which is to be inserted into the femur and whose surface has an osteoinductive finish, characterized in that the osteoinductive finish is provided exclusively in a part (6) of the shaft (3) situated laterally from the line (7) of maximum AP dimension of the shaft cross section in the metaphyseal portion (5).
2. Hip-joint prosthesis according to Claim 1, charac-terized in that the osteoinductive substance is formed by a coating or is contained in a coating.
3. Hip-joint prosthesis according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the osteoinductive substance comprises a bisphosphonate or a BMP.
4. Hip-joint prosthesis according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that at least the part (6) of the prosthesis surface containing the osteoinductive substance is porous.
5. Hip-joint prosthesis according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the part (6) of the prosthe-sis finished with an osteoinductive substance com-prises at least two ventral or dorsal opposite surfaces which enclose a spacing in the AP direc-tion of more than 6 mm, preferably of more than 9 mm.
6. Hip-joint prosthesis according to one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the part (6) of the prosthesis finished with an osteoinductive sub-stance is formed at least partially by a projec-tion (13) extending from the shaft (12).
7. Hip-joint prosthesis according to Claim 6, charac-terized in that the projection (13) is wedge-shaped in the implantation direction, and a rasp assigned to the prosthesis has a smaller volume in the area of this projection.
8. Hip-joint prosthesis according to Claim 7, charac-terized in that the projection (13) can be de-tached from the shaft.
