Abstract
An annular packer device (1), wherein the annular packer (1) is expandable in an annulus (6) between an inner body (8) and an outer boundary (12), and wherein the annular packer (1) is sealingly movable along at least one of the inner body (8) and the outer boundary (12).
Claims (10)
1. An annular packer device (1), wherein the annular packer (1) is expandable in an annulus (6) between an inner body (8) and an outer boundary (12), cha-racterized in that the annular packer (1) is sealingly movable along at least one of the inner body (8) or the outer boundary (12).
2. A device in accordance with claim 1, characterized in that the annular packer (1) includes a sleeve (2) encircled by an expandable material (4).
3. A device in accordance with claim 2, characterized in that the expandable material (4) is sealingly connected to the sleeve (2).
4. A device in accordance with claim 1, characterized in that a seal (14) is arranged between the sleeve (2) and the inner body (8), the seal (14) being arranged to prevent fluid from flowing between the inner body (8) and the sleeve (2).
5. A device in accordance with claim 1, characterized in that at least part of the sleeve (2) is expandable in a radial direction.
6. A device in accordance with claim 1, characterized in that the annular packer (1) comprises a reinforcement (16) and an expandable material (4).
7. A device in accordance with claim 1, characterized in that the annular packer (1) is releasably movable on the inner body (8).

An annular packer device (1) adapted to the fitted in an annulus (6) defined by an outer surface of a tubular element (8) and a borehole inner surface (12), said packer device (1) comprising an expandable material (4) encircling the tubular element (8), said expandable material (4) being adapted for sealing engagement with a portion of said inner surface (12), characterized in that the annular packer (1) is sealingly movable relative to the tubular element (8) while substantially retaining is axial position relative to the borehole inner surface (12) when the expandable material is in sealing engagement with a portion of said inner surface (12).

The bracker device of claim 1, wherein said expandable material (4) is sealingly connected to a sleeve (2) encircling said tubular element (8).

The packer device of claims 1 and 2, wherein a seal (14) is arranged between the sleeve (2) and the tubular element (8), whereby fluid flow between the tubular element (8) and the sleeve (2) is substantially prevented.

The packer device of claim 3, wherein the seal (14) is disposed in a complementary recess in the sleeve (2) and encircling said tubular element (8).

The packer device of claim 2, wherein at least a part of the sleeve (2) is biased in a radial direction, away from the tubular element (8).

The packer device of claim 1, wherein said expandable material (4) is sealingly connected to a reinforcement material (16) encircling said tubular element (8).

The packer device of claims 1 and 6, wherein said reinforcement material (16) comprises a circumferential slit adapted for a seal (14) at ranged between the expandable material (4) and the tubular element (8), whereby fluid flow between the tubular element (8) and the expandable material (4) is substantially prevented.

An annular packer device (1) adapted to the fitted in an annulus (6) defined by an outer surface of a tubular element (8) and a borehole inner surface (12), said packer device (1) comprising an expandable material (4) encircling the tubular element (8), said expandable material (4) being adapted for sealing engagement with a portion of said inner surface (12), characterized in that the annular packer (1) is sealingly movable relative to the tubular element (8) while substantially retaining is axial position relative to the borehole inner surface (12) when the expandable material is in sealing engagement with a portion of said inner surface (12).

The bracker device of claim 1, wherein said expandable material (4) is sealingly connected to a sleeve (2) encircling said tubular element (8).

The packer device of claims 1 and 2, wherein a seal (14) is arranged between the sleeve (2) and the tubular element (8), whereby fluid flow between the tubular element (8) and the sleeve (2) is substantially prevented.

The packer device of claim 3, wherein the seal (14) is disposed in a complementary recess in the sleeve (2) and encircling said tubular element (8).

The packer device of claim 2, wherein at least a part of the sleeve (2) is biased in a radial direction, away from the tubular element (8).

The packer device of claim 1, wherein said expandable material (4) is sealingly connected to a reinforcement material (16) encircling said tubular element (8).

The packer device of claims 1 and 6, wherein said reinforcement material (16) comprises a circumferential slit adapted for a seal (14) at ranged between the expandable material (4) and the tubular element (8), whereby fluid flow between the tubular element (8) and the expandable material (4) is substantially prevented.

The packer device of claim 7, wherein the seal (14) is disposed in a complementary recess in the expandable material (4) and encircling said tubular element (8).

The packer device of claim 1, wherein said borehole inner surface (12) comprises a well formation surface or a well casing.

The packer device of claim 1, wherein said relative motion between the annular packer (1) and the tubular element (8) is caused by thermal stresses in said tubular element.
