Abstract

A cartridge for selectively dispensing an additive to water that includes a housing (130), a bladder (140) disposed within the housing (130), and a pump (150) connected to the housing (130) and in fluid communication with the bladder. The bladder (140) is configured to contain a consumable additive such as a flavor, for water. The pump (150) is operable to selectively dispense an amount of the additive into water. The cartridge may be connected to a water filtration system such that the cartridge may dispense the additive into filtered water.

Claims (6)

1. A cartridge for selectively dispensing an additive to water, comprising:
a housing having a curved cross section;
a reservoir disposed within said housing and configured to contain an additive;
and a pump connected to said housing and in fluid communication with said reservoir, said pump configured to dispense an amount of additive from said reservoir upon activation of said pump.
2. The cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said housing comprises first and second convex-curved sidewalls, and wherein said convex curvature of first and second sidewalls face the same direction.
3. The cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said housing comprises an inner radius from about 1.5 inches to about 2.5 inches and an outer radius from about 4.0 inches to about 6.0 inches.
4. The cartridge according to claim 2, wherein said housing is configured to substantially conform to a curved surface of a water filtration system.
5. The cartridge according to claim 2, wherein said cartridge is disposable, and wherein said reservoir is a bladder.
6. The cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said cartridge further comprises a door opening device disposed along said housing; wherein said door opening device is configured to open a door connected to a receptacle and operable to open and close an opening in the receptacle to permit an additive to dispense from said cartridge.
