图1a示出未按比例绘制的光学显示器10a的示意图。光学显示器10a包括:机壳12;背光单元14,其带有反射片16、光导18和光源20;扩散片22;棱镜膜24和26;扩散片28;反射偏振片30;粘合层32;显示面板34;光学膜单元36(由元件22~32形成);以及光学膜套件38(由光学膜单元36和光导18形成)。
机壳12通常是用于支撑光学显示器10的部件的塑料框架。在本实施例中,背光单元14包括一层或更多层反射片16以及光导18和光源20。光导18可以包括用于引导光的专用特征件,并可以采取所示平板的形式或例如楔形等其它形式。
光源20可以是例如荧光灯、发光二极管或直接照明式等任何合适类型的光源。来自光源20的光经由光导18导向显示面板34。
接下来,扩散片22堆叠在光导18上。扩散片22均匀化来自光导18的光的强度。
棱镜膜24和26堆叠在扩散片22上。棱镜膜24和26包含用于将光导向显示面板34的棱镜阵列。棱镜膜24和26可以相对于彼此这样布置,即:它们的棱镜阵列平行,或者更为典型的是,它们的棱镜阵列不平行。如本实施例中所示,棱镜阵列彼此垂直。
扩散片28堆叠在棱镜膜26上。扩散片28通常是较弱的扩散片,并且如关于扩散片22所述,用于均匀化光强度以使其更加均匀。
示出的最后的堆叠膜是反射偏振片30。反射偏振片30可以是包括多层聚合物膜、胆甾型偏振片或线栅偏振片等多种反射偏振片中的任何一种反射偏振片。反射偏振片30回收处于错误偏振状态且不能作为图像光透射的光。
通常,反射偏振片30层压到显示面板34的后部。然而,如同这里所示的情况以及下列实施例中那样,反射偏振片30也可以与其它光学膜堆叠。
下一层是粘合层32(用粗线表示)。粘合层32通常是双面带涂层的垫带或遮蔽框架,但也可以是粘合涂层。粘合层32的一个表面是黑色的,并接触显示面板34。相反表面着色为白色或银色,并接触其下方各层的一部分。光容易在膜层周围泄漏,粘合层32的反射表面回收所泄露的光以使其改向。黑色表面减少了光学显示器周围的“光晕效应”,即有时沿显示器周边形成的亮线。可以使用的合适垫带包括3M公司的Black and White Double Coated Polyester Tape4003S、4003T、4007、4037和4040以及Black and White Double CoatedPolyester Tape 5173。如果需要,也可以使用3M公司的Black andWhite Single Coated Polyester Tape 4038和4039。
应该注意到,层22至30代表一个实施例。根据需要和愿望,可以省略、添加或替换层22至30中的一些层。例如,其棱镜朝上或朝下的转向膜可以代替棱镜膜24和26,或者可以添加带有棱镜的Vikuiti BEF-RP 90/24反射偏振片。另外,各层逐渐变小,其边缘或周边依次凹进,以便使得各层的一部分接触粘合层32,这将在下面更加详细地说明。
粘合层32可以接触层22至30以形成光学膜单元36。或者,粘合层32还可以接触光导18以形成光学膜套件38。光学膜单元36和光学膜套件38可以称为光学子组件。单元36和套件38在输送给制造商以组装光学显示器10之前进行组装。上述层预先对准,因此不需要调整片。粘合层32密封各层的边缘,这消除了任何碎屑进入点。然而,如下面所示,粘合层32没有必要完全包围所包括的层的周边。
图1b是光学显示器10b的示意图。显示器10b包括与显示器10a相同的层,只是另外包括粘合层25。
如前面所示,光导18、扩散片22和棱镜膜24依次变小。粘合层25堆叠在棱镜膜24上,并且尺寸与粘合层32相似,以便使得粘合层25的一个表面接触并固定层18至24或层22至24。接下来,堆叠棱镜膜26、扩散片28和反射偏振片30。然而,不是如图1a中那样继续减小尺寸,而是各层依次变大。然后尺寸与显示器10a所示的粘合层相同的粘合层32堆叠在反射偏振片30上。粘合层25的其余表面接触层26至32。
与粘合层32不同,粘合层25不是垫带,而是任何类型的合适的双面带涂层的带。对于本实施例来说,各层可以更加牢固,并且显示器10b的最小层大于显示器10a的最小层。这样,在不增加各层的总体尺寸的情况下,提供更大的观看区域。
图1c是光学显示器10c的示意图。同样,显示器10c包括与显示器10a相同的层。
这里,光导18大于层22至30。层22至30尺寸相同,粘合层32只接触光导18和反射偏振片30的一部分。其余层夹在光导18和反射偏振片30之间,各层的边缘被密封以防止碎屑进入。
请注意,为了形成单元36,扩散片22的尺寸应该大于其余层,以便粘附到粘合层32上。如同显示器10b一样,最小层大于显示器10a的最小层,这在不增加膜的总体尺寸的情况下,提供更大的观看区域。
图2a和2b分别是光学膜单元36的俯视图和侧视图。单元36包括:粘合层32,其具有外周边32p’和内周边32p″;扩散片28,其具有外周边28p;以及反射偏振片30,其具有外周边30p。凹进距离d1、d2和d3也在图2a中示出。为简单起见,仅示出28和30两层。然而,可以使用用于控制光学显示器的光的任何数量和类型的膜,例如关于图1a~1c所述的膜。
扩散片28是底层,反射偏振片30堆叠在其上。在图2a和2b中可以明显看出,扩散片28大于反射偏振片30,并且上述膜这样布置,即:外周边30p从外周边28p凹进距离d1。
在本实施例中,粘合层32具有框架式形状,并堆叠在扩散片28和反射偏振片30上方。内周边32p″从外周边30p凹进距离d2,而外周边32p’延伸超过外周边28p距离d3。这样,扩散片28和反射偏振片30各自的一部分接触粘合层32并粘附到其上。理想情况是,保护盖板(未示出)堆叠在粘合层32的上方和最下层的下方。在将显示面板34安装到单元36上以生成显示模块之前,去除所述盖板。合适的保护盖板及其安装方法在2003年12月31日提交的序号为10/750,553的申请中有所描述。
距离d1、d2和d3为约2.0mm或更小,或者更为典型的是约1.0mm或更小。距离d1~d3可以彼此不相等,并且可以沿各层的任何整个周边不一致。
在图2b中可以明显看出,粘合层32必须适应各层的错开的边缘的几何形状,以便接触各层的一部分。为说明起见,在图2b中夸大示出了这一点。但实际上,膜是薄的,并且粘合层32通常不需要这样的适应结构。
处理单元36比单独处理各膜要容易得多,并且单元36是密封的,这防止了碎屑累积在膜之间。由于膜预先对准,并且为了正确定位光学膜单元36,制造商只需要将外周边32p’定位在机壳内,所以膜不具有调整片。另外,无调整片膜使得观看区域周围的边框更窄。这允许制造商在不增加装置的总体尺寸的情况下增大观看区域的尺寸。这对于例如移动电话和PDA等小型装置来说尤其重要。
图2c是光学单元36a的俯视图,单元36a与单元36相似,只是在反射偏振片30内包括孔40和槽42。孔40可以具有例如圆形或正方形等多种形状中的任何一种形状。尽管这里示出两个孔,但是也可以沿着外周边30p的任何部分或全部存在一个或更多个孔。孔40的尺寸应该小于约2mm宽,但是通常为约0.5mm到约1.0mm宽。
还示出了槽42。槽42可以具有例如矩形或椭圆形等多种细长形状中的任何一种形状。可以沿着外周边30p存在一个或更多槽42,并且可以与孔40任意组合。槽42可以具有任何长度,但是其宽度应该小于2mm,通常在约0.5mm和1.0mm之间。
孔40和槽42应该距外周边30p和内周边32p″约0.50mm或更小。通常,包括尺寸与反射偏振片30相同并且也具有孔40和/或槽42的附加层。只有最下层尺寸较大,并且不包括孔40或槽42。这样,各层得到固定和密封,以免任何碎屑进入。
使用槽42将各层固定为一个单元,但是也允许上述层在槽42的宽度方向上的一些移动。这样,如果有必要,本实施例可以更好地容许上述层之间的任何调整。
图2d是光学单元36b的俯视图,单元36b也与单元36相似,只是在反射偏振片30上包括凹口30n。这里,除凹口30n凹进距离d1的位置以外,外周边30p向外延伸到外周边28p。沿外周边30p可以存在具有任何尺寸的任何数目的凹口30n。凹口30n可以具有例如三角形形状等任何类型的形状,并且外周边30p并非必须向外延伸到外周边28p。
图3a和3b分别是光学膜单元36c的俯视图和侧视图。单元36c包括:扩散片28,其具有边缘28a和28b;反射偏振片30,其具有边缘30a和30b;粘合层32’,其具有外边缘32’o和内边缘32’i;以及粘合层32″,其具有外边缘32″o和内边缘32″i。还包括凹进距离d1、d2和d3。边缘28a与边缘28b相对,同样,边缘30a与边缘30b相对。
与单元36的实施例不同,并不是膜和粘合层的全部周边都相对于彼此错开。另外,粘合层呈现只是框架式形状的一部分的形式。边缘30a和30b分别从边缘28a和28b凹进距离d1。边缘32’i和32″i分别从边缘30a和30b凹进距离d2。边缘32’o和32″o分别延伸超过边缘28a和28b距离d3。同样,距离d1~d3不需要沿各个边缘彼此相等或一致。
尽管单元36c的每一层具有不错开并且不具有粘合层的两个剩余边缘,但是单元36c仍然组装和安装为单元。优点是,单元36c安装到其中的装置只需要最小的框架来覆盖两个剩余边缘。这样,单元36c在一个维度上提供最大的观看区域。
沿扩散片28和反射偏振片30的周边的任何两个边缘都可以错开并用粘合层32’和32″固定。另外,也可能希望错开并固定单元36c的第三边缘。
图3c是光学单元36d的俯视图,单元36d与单元36c相似,只是包括粘合层32,并示出外周边30p。这里,粘合层32具有沿各层的整个周边延伸的框架式形状。如单元36c中所示,边缘28a和30a相对于彼此错开,并且边缘28b和30b相对于彼此错开。膜28和30的其余两个边缘不错开,并且内周边32p″从外周边30p凹进距离d2。扩散片28的其余边缘不接触粘合层32。
单元36d也使一个维度上的观看区域最大化。另外,可以在膜28和30之间添加尺寸与反射偏振片30相同的附加层,给出与图1c所示相似的构造。
图4a和4b是光学膜单元36e的俯视图和侧视图。单元36e包括:扩散片28,其具有边缘28a;反射偏振片30,其具有边缘30a;以及粘合层32’,其具有外边缘32’o和内边缘32’i。同样,示出凹进距离d1、d2和d3。
在本实施例中,只固定一个边缘。扩散片28处于光学膜堆的底部,接着是反射偏振片30,然后是粘合层32’。边缘30a从边缘28a凹进距离d1。边缘32’i从边缘30a凹进距离d2。边缘32’o延伸超过边缘28a距离d3。单元36e的优点是,单元36e仍然作为单元而不是单个膜进行处理,但是如果有必要,各膜也可以成扇形展开,以便去除可能沉积在膜之间的任何碎屑。
图4c是光学单元36f的俯视图,单元36f与单元36e相似,只是包括粘合层32和外周边30p。边缘28a和30a相对于彼此错开。其余边缘不错开,并且内周边32p″从外周边30p凹进距离d2。扩散片28的其余边缘不接触粘合层32。
也可以向前面任何实施例添加附加层。举例来说,例如图1b所示的附加膜层和附加粘合层可以与单元36f的实施例组合。在本实例中,每一层只有一个边缘依次错开。在所有实施例中,凹进距离d1~d3通常是2.0mm,但是优选为1.0mm或更小。
这些实施例中所示出的膜和粘合层可以具有包括圆形和椭圆形的任何几何形状。另外,仅通过向多个所堆叠的膜的底部添加光导,这些实施例还可以适用于光学膜套件38(图1a~1c)。
图5示出了未按比例绘制的组装到机壳12中的光学膜单元36e。图5包括机壳12、反射片16、光导18以及带有粘合层32’和多个堆叠的光学膜44的单元36e。膜44示出为具有三个膜,但是膜44可以包括任何数目的膜,例如参考图1a~1c所示出和说明的那些膜。
光导18安装到机壳12上。通过将粘合层32’的边缘定位在机壳12内来安装单元36e。粘合层32’粘附到机壳12上以固定单元36e。如图5所示,粘合层32’必须适应错开层的几何形状,并安装到机壳12上。
图6示出了未按比例绘制的组装到机壳12a中的光学膜套件38a。图6包括机壳12a、反射片16以及带有光导18a、粘合层32’和多个堆叠的光学膜44的套件38a。
在本实施例中,通过将粘合层32’定位在机壳12a内来安装套件38a。机壳12和机壳12a以及光导18和光导18a稍有不同,以分别适应光学膜单元或光学膜套件的安装。同样,粘合层32’与接触光导18a、光学膜44和机壳12a的一部分所需要的几何形状相适应。
本发明提供一种用于安装到光学显示器中的更加有效和成本更低的产品。光学层可以借助于连续织物预先对准并成批堆叠,这比目前所做的单独堆叠各层更加经济有效。由于不单独堆叠各层,所以各层不再需要用于定位和定向的周边调整片,也不需要保护盖板。另外,膜可以密封,以防止任何碎屑进入各层之间。
尽管已经参考优选实施例对本发明进行了说明,但是所属领域的技术人员会认识到,在未背离本发明的要旨和保护范围的情况下,可以在形式和细节上做出变更。
Claims (18)
1.一种用于光学显示器中的光学子组件,包括:
多个堆叠的光学膜,其具有最上膜和最下膜;以及
第一粘合层,其接触所述光学膜堆的所述最上膜和所述最下膜,以将所述光学膜堆保持在一起作为单元,使得可以在不单独处理所述光学膜堆的光学膜的情况下,将所述光学膜堆组装到光学显示器中,其中,至少一个光学膜包括空隙,以允许所述第一粘合层接触所述最下膜。
2.根据权利要求1所述的光学子组件,还包括:
至少一个中间膜,其位于所述光学膜堆的所述最上膜和所述最下膜之间。
3.根据权利要求2所述的光学子组件,其中
所述光学膜的边缘错开,并且还包括:
第二粘合层,其位于所述光学膜堆的两个相邻膜之间。
4.根据权利要求2所述的光学子组件,其中
所述光学膜这样构造,即:每一所述光学膜都接触所述第一粘合层。
5.根据权利要求4所述的光学子组件,其中
所述光学膜和所述第一粘合层的边缘错开。
6.根据权利要求1所述的光学子组件,其中
至少一个所述光学膜的周边的至少一部分的形状做成允许所述第一粘合层接触所述最下膜。
7.根据权利要求1所述的光学子组件,还包括:
光导,其堆叠在所述最下膜下面,所述最下膜构造为允许所述第一粘合层接触所述光导。
8.一种光学膜套件,包括:
光导,其具有第一周边;
光学膜单元,其包括:
多个堆叠的光学膜,每一光学膜具有周边,所述多个堆叠的光学膜包括第一外部光学膜和第二外部光学膜,所述第一外部光学膜与所述光导相邻,所述第一外部光学膜的周边的至少一部分从所述光导的第一周边凹进,使得所述光导的一部分露出,各剩余光学膜的周边的至少一部分这样凹进,即:使得至少所述第二外部光学膜的一部分露出;以及
粘合层,其与所述第二外部光学膜相邻,具有延伸超过所述光导的所述第一周边的第二周边,所述粘合层接触所述光学膜和所述光导的露出部分。
9.根据权利要求8所述的光学膜套件,其中
所述粘合层具有框架式形状。
10.根据权利要求8所述的光学膜套件,其中
所述粘合层具有框架式形状的一部分。
11.根据权利要求8所述的光学套组件,其中
所述多个堆叠的光学膜预先对准。
12.一种光学显示器,包括:
背光单元;
显示面板单元;以及
光学膜单元,其定位在所述背光单元和所述显示面板单元之间,所述光学膜单元包括多个预先对准的堆叠光学膜,其中,至少所述光学膜堆的最上光学膜和所述光学膜堆的最下光学膜接触粘合层,其中,所述光学膜各包括至少一个依次凹进一定距离的边缘。
13.根据权利要求12所述的光学显示器,其中
所述背光单元还包括:
光导;以及
至少一个光源。
14.根据权利要求12所述的光学显示器,其中
所述粘合层将所述光学膜单元固定到所述显示面板单元上。
15.根据权利要求12所述的光学显示器,其中
所述粘合层密封所述光学膜的边缘,以便使得不存在碎屑的进入点。
16.根据权利要求12所述的光学显示器,其中
所述距离为约2.0mm或更小。
17.根据权利要求12所述的光学显示器,其中
所述距离为约1.0mm或更小。
18.一种用于光学显示器中的光学子组件,所述光学子组件包括:
多个堆叠的光学膜,其具有最上膜和最下膜,所述最上膜和所述最下膜中每一者具有至少第一边缘和第二边缘,所述多个堆叠的光学膜的边缘是错开的;以及
第一粘合层和第二粘合层,其在所述最上膜和所述最下膜的第一边缘和第二边缘处接触光学膜堆的所述最上膜和所述最下膜,以将所述光学膜堆保持在一起作为单元,使得可以在不单独处理所述光学膜堆的光学膜的情况下,将所述光学膜堆组装到光学显示器中。
