Abstract

【0003】普通成像器,例如隔行传输电荷耦合装置(IT-CCD)和某些互补金属氧化物半导体(CMOS)照相机,例如所谓的4-T像素传感器(也被称为帧快门成像器),通过同时曝光待成像物体的所有像素元素而形成电子图像。为了使用此成像器对移动物体进行成像,提供帧快门以短暂开启快门并且同时瞬间曝光所有成像器的像素,产生“定格”图像。快门保持开启的时间-帧曝光时间-决定了最快速度,待成像物体可以以此速度移动而同时生成质量足够好的图像。尽管机械快门使得对快速移动物体进行令人满意的成像变得更容易,但是机械快门机构对成像系统的复杂性、成本、尺寸、重量、功率、可靠性和耐用性具有负面影响。

【0013】参考上面所列之附图,本部分描述特定实施例及其详细结构和操作。根据本公开,本领域的技术人员会认识到某些实施例能够获得优于已知现有技术的某些优势,包括下述优势的某些或全部:(1)能够利用更经济的滚动复位成像器,诸如CMOS滚动复位成像器;(2)消除对使用物理快门机制的需要;(3)抑制背景照明;及(4)避免来自于照明源的可见闪烁,该闪烁是可辨识的并且令观察者生厌。在阅读本部分中的剩余部分后,不同实施例的这些和其它的优势会显而易见。

【0018】可以以被设置为匹配期望的曝光时间的脉冲速率和占空比使光源130周期性地产生脉冲或者频闪。可在成像器110的限度内对成像器110的帧速率和频闪频率或者脉冲速率进行设置,以满足以下关系:FRMIN=V/(WF-Wo),其中,FRMIN是最小帧速率,V是条形码跨过视场150移动的速度,WF是视场150在速度方向上的宽度,Wo是物体160在速度方向上的宽度。满足此关系确保了当物体160通过视场150时,成像器110看见整个物体160。如果来自光源130的光不可见,则帧速率可以很低而不产生讨厌的可见闪烁。频率在约50赫兹或以下的可见光脉冲可导致闪效应,该闪变效应分散人眼的注意力。由于另一原因,使用近红外照明也是具有优势的——即,近红外LED能够处理在低占空比下大的脉冲过驱动电流,使得能够对成像器110进行亮照明。确保捕获物体160所需的相对低的帧速率允许照明LED以非常低的占空比产生脉冲。例如,如果视场的宽度WF等于5英寸,物体的宽度Wo等于1英寸,并且最大物体速度是每秒50英寸,则最小帧速率FRMIN是每秒12.5帧。如果物体是条形码,该条形码最小单元宽度为10密耳(0.010英寸),则最大曝光时间(因此LED脉冲宽度)是200微秒。LED的占空比是200μs×12.5Hz或者0.25%,这个占空比是很小的。当以这个低占空比产生脉冲时,额定为50mA(毫安培)的连续占空比电流的LED能够支持1安培的电流。对目标160的有效照明增加了20倍。
【0019】滤光片170以相对高的透射率传播由光源130所生成的并反射自物体160的照明,而以相对低的透射率传输其它频率的光。当光源130工作在近红外频率范围内并且滤光片170具有近红外通带时,背景环境照明优选地由几乎不产生近红外能量的荧光灯提供。在那种情况下,成像系统110有效地从背景环境光中区分出光源130所产生的照明。
【0020】成像系统110在多种成像应用中是有用的。适于使用成像系统100的成像应用的一个实例是读取光码,例如条形码260。利用成像系统100的原理的条形码读取机的一个特定实例是图2中所示的条形码成像系统200。条形码成像系统200采用特定的镜头组件240和信号处理器290以从条形码260的图像中提取有意义的数据。特别地,成像系统200包含具有旋转对称元件的镜头组件240,该镜头组件240包含前负透镜242,随后是暗帧244,随后是后正透镜248。暗帧244可以是垫圈或者类似物,其限定了中央光圈246,该光圈在形状上优选地是圆形。镜头组件240允许在视场深度和光收集效率之间进行更有利的权衡。于2005年1月27日提交的题目为“Imaging System with aLens Having Increased Light Collection and a Deblurring Equalizer”的共同转让的美国专利申请第11/045,213号中,包括关于镜头组件240及其元件的更多细节,该申请作为参考文献并入本说明书中。

【0023】图4是根据某一实施例的条形码读取方法400的流程图。方法400执行一些与方法300相同的步骤,这些步骤通过使用与图3中所使用的附图标记相同的附图标记来标识。此外,方法400聚焦(430)待成像物体,优选地使用光学元件,诸如镜头140或者镜头组件240,其提供具有扩展的视场深度和增加的光收集效率的“软聚焦”。过滤步骤320和聚焦步骤430可以与图4中图示的顺序相反的顺序执行。例如,在图1或图2中滤光片170可分别置于镜头140或者镜头组件240之前或者之后。方法400也可生成(450)跨过图像的虚拟扫描线,对虚拟扫描线信号进行缩放(460)以补偿背景亮度等级的非均匀性,对产生的信号进行均衡(470)以补偿聚焦光学元件所引入的像差。最后,在步骤340所形成的图像和对图像数据的任意后续信号处理的基础上,方法400解码(480)条形码。

Claims (21)
1.一种成像系统(100,200),其包含:
滚动复位成像器(110),其形成物体(160)的图像;
光源(130),其以脉冲光照明所述物体(160),该脉冲光具有照明频谱和照明脉冲宽度,该脉冲宽度限定了用于形成所述物体(160)的所述图像的有效曝光时间;和
滤光片(170),其布置于所述物体(160)和所述滚动复位成像器(110)之间,所述滤光片(170)具有频率通带,该通带允许传输大部分的所述照明频谱,而至少大概地抑制至少某些具有所述照明频谱之外的频率的光的传播。
