在本发明的背景下,主机是因特网使能的意指主机能够连接到一个或多个因特网站点以便上传数据或下载数据或进行上传数据以及下载数据两者。这使得能够在保持所述系统中的硬件本身相对简单的同时经由主机从因特网实现扩展特征。在整个说明书中,在本发明的背景下,术语“因特网”用来指示全世界的、公众可访问的互连计算机网络系列,其使用标准网际协议(IP)来发送数据。其包括万维网(www),并且还包括万维网之外的其它家庭、学校、商务、政府及其它网络。
所述烟雾形成基体优选地包括包含烟草的材料,该材料包括在加热时从基体释放的挥发性烟草香味化合物。另选地,所述烟雾形成基体可以包括非烟草材料。
优选地,所述烟雾形成基体还包括烟雾形成剂。适当的烟雾形成剂的示例是甘油和丙二醇。在EP-A-0 277 519和US-A-5 396 911中描述了可能的适当的烟雾形成剂的附加示例。
所述烟雾形成基体可以是固体基体。所述固体基体可以包括例如以下各项中的一种或多种:粉末、颗粒、小球、碎片、套管、条或片,其包含以下各项中的一种或多种:香草叶、烟叶、烟梗段、再生烟草、均质烟草、压制烟草和膨胀烟草。所述固体基体可以采用松散的形式,或者可以在适当的容器或盒体中提供。可选地,所述固体基体可以包含附加烟草或非烟草挥发性香味化合物,其将在基体加热时释放。

所述固体基体可以以例如片材、泡沫、凝胶或浆料的形式沉积在载体的表面上。所述固体基体可以沉积在载体的整个表面上,或者另选地,可以以图案方式沉积以便在使用期间提供不均匀的香味输送。
另选地,所述载体可以是已将烟草组分结合到其中的非编织织物或纤维束,诸如在EP-A-0 857 431中描述的。非编织织物或纤维束可以包括例如碳纤维、天然纤维素纤维、或纤维素衍生物纤维。
另选地,所述载体可以是所述电加热吸烟系统的加热元件的至少一部分。在这种情况下,所述加热元件通常是一次性的。例如,如US-A-5 060 671中所描述的,可以将所述固体基体作为薄层沉积在金属箔上或电阻性支撑体上。
所述烟雾形成基体可以是液体基体。如果提供了液体基体,则所述电加热吸烟系统优选地包括用于保持液体的装置。例如,所述液体基体可以被保持在容器中,所述容器是诸如在EP-A-0 893 071中所描述的容器。另选地,或附加地,如WO-A-2007/066374、EP-A-1 736 062、WO-A-2007/131449和WO-A-2007/131450中所描述的,可以将液体基体吸收到多孔载体材料中。所述多孔载体材料可以由任何适当的吸收剂塞或主体形成,例如,泡沫金属或塑料材料、聚丙烯、涤纶、尼龙纤维或陶瓷。可以在使用电加热吸烟系统之前将液体基体保持在多孔载体材料中,或者,另选地,可以在使用期间或紧挨在使用之前将液体基体材料释放到多孔载体材料中。例如,如WO-A-2007/077167中所描述的,可以在胶囊中提供液体基体。所述胶囊的壳优选地在加热时熔化并将液体基体释放到多孔载体材料中。所述胶囊可以可选地包含与液体组合的固体。
如果所述烟雾形成基体是液体基体,则所述电加热吸烟系统还可以包括用于一次加热少量液体的装置。如EP-A-0 893 071中所描述的,用于一次加热少量液体的装置可以包括例如与液体基体连通的液体通路。通常通过毛细管力迫使所述液体基体进入液体通路中。所述加热元件优选地被布置成使得在使用期间,只有液体通路内的少量液体基体而不是容器内的液体被加热且挥发。
另选地或附加地,如果所述烟雾形成基体是液体基体,则所述电加热吸烟系统还可以包括与液体基体源接触且包括所述至少一个加热元件的喷雾器。除所述加热元件之外,所述喷雾器可以包括诸如压电元件的一个或多个电-机元件。附加地或另选地,所述喷雾器还可以包括使用静电、电磁或气动效应的元件。所述电加热吸烟系统还可以包括冷凝室。
另选地,所述烟雾形成基体可以是任何其它种类的基体,例如,气体基体、或各种类型的基体的任何组合。在操作期间,所述基体可以完全被包含在所述电加热吸烟系统内。在这种情况下,用户可以在所述电加热吸烟系统的管嘴上吸烟。另选地,在操作期间,所述基体可以被部分地包含在所述电加热吸烟系统内。在这种情况下,基体可以形成单独物件的一部分且用户可以直接在该单独物件上吸烟。
所述至少一个加热元件可以包括单个加热元件。另选地,所述至少一个加热元件可以包括多于一个的加热元件。所述加热元件可以被适当地布置,从而最有效地加热烟雾形成基体。
所述至少一个加热元件优选地包括电阻性材料。适当的电阻性材料包括但不限于:如掺杂陶瓷的半导体、“导电”陶瓷(诸如,例如二硅化钼)、碳、石墨、金属、金属合金和由陶瓷材料和金属材料制成的复合材料。此类复合材料可以包括掺杂或未掺杂陶瓷。适当的掺杂陶瓷的示例包括掺杂碳化硅。适当的金属的示例包括钛、锆、钽和来自铂族的金属。适当的金属合金的示例包括不锈钢、含镍、钴、铬、铝钛锆、铪、铌、钼、钽、钨、锡、镓、锰和铁的合金、和基于镍、铁、钴、不锈钢、
和基于铁锰铝的合金的超合金。在复合材料中,根据能量传递的动力学和所需的外部物理化学性质,所述电阻性材料可以可选地被嵌入绝缘材料中、用绝缘材料密封或涂敷,或者反之亦然。在US-A-5 498 855、WO-A-03/095688和US-A-5 514 630中公开了适当的复合加热元件的示例。
另选地,所述至少一个加热元件可以包括红外加热元件、光子源(诸如在US-A-5 934 289中描述的那些)、或者感应加热元件(诸如在US-A-5 613 505中描述的那些)。
所述至少一个加热元件可以采用任何适当的形式。例如,所述至少一个加热元件可以采用加热片的形式,诸如在US-A-5 388 594、US-A-5 591 368和US-A-5 505 214中描述的那些。另选地,所述至少一个加热元件可以采用具有不同导电部分的壳体或基体的形式(如EP-A-1 128 741中所描述的),或电阻性金属管的形式(如WO-A-2007/066374中所描述的)。在烟雾形成基体是在容器内提供的液体的情况下,所述容器可以结合一次性加热元件。另选地,如KR-A-100636287和JP-A-2006320286中所描述的,穿过烟雾形成基体的中心的一个或多个加热针或杆也可能是适当的。另选地,所述至少一个加热元件可以是盘形(末端)加热器或盘形加热器与加热针或杆的组合。其它选择包括加热导线或细丝,例如Ni-Cr、铂、钨或合金线(诸如EP-A-1 736 065中所描述的那些)、或者加热板。可选地,可以在刚性载体材料中或在刚性载体材料上沉积加热元件。

如EP-A-0 857 431中所描述的,所述吸热器或储热器可以被布置成使得其直接与所述烟雾形成基体接触且可以直接将所储存的热量传输到基体。另选地,如WO-A-2008/015441中所描述的,储存在吸热器或储热器中的热量可以借助于诸如金属管的导热体传输到所述烟雾形成基体。
所述至少一个加热元件可以借助于传导加热烟雾形成基体。加热元件可以至少部分地与基体、或上面沉积有基体的载体接触。另选地,可以借助于导热元件将来自加热元件的热量传导至基体。
另选地,所述至少一个加热元件可以将热量传送到在使用期间通过电加热吸烟系统吸入的环境空气中,其随后通过对流加热烟雾形成基体。如WO-A-2007/066374中所描述的,可以在环境空气通过烟雾形成基体之前将环境空气加热。另选地,如WO-A-2007/078273中所描述的,如果烟雾形成基体是液体基体,则可以首先通过基体吸取环境空气并随后将其加热。
在第一实施例中,用于向所述至少一个加热元件供电的电源包括在所述电加热吸烟系统中包含的电池。在这种情况下,所述电源可以是锂离子电池或其变体之一,例如,锂离子聚合物电池。另选地,所述电源可以是镍金属氢化物电池或镍镉电池或燃料电池。在这种情况下,优选地,在电池中的能量被用尽之前,所述电加热吸烟系统可被吸烟者使用。优选地,所述电池自身被完全包含在电加热吸烟系统中。
在第二实施例中,用于向所述至少一个加热元件供电的电源包括可由外部充电部分充电的电路。所述外部充电部分可以形成所述电加热吸烟系统的一部分。例如,所述电加热吸烟系统可以包括由用户把持的部分和外部充电部分。所述外部充电部分可以采用对接站(docking station)的形式。或者,所述外部充电部分可以形成主机的一部分。在这种情况下,可以通过所述电加热吸烟系统经由通信链路与所述主机的连接来对电路充电。在第二实施例中,优选地,所述电路在充电时提供用于预定次数吸烟的电力,在此之后,必须将电路重新连接到外部充电部分。适当的电路的示例是一个或多个电容器或可再充电电池。
在第三实施例中,用于向所述至少一个加热元件供电的电源包括连接到外部电源的接口。优选地,所述接口在使用期间始终连接到所述外部电源。在第三实施例中,因为优选地在系统本身中不存在电源,因此优选地,每当吸烟者希望使用系统时所述接口将连接到外部电源。在第三实施例中,所述接口可以通过电加热吸烟系统经由通信链路与主机的连接而连接到外部电源。也就是说,可以经由通信链路从主机向接口供电。
因此,在本发明的背景下,应将术语“电源”推断为意指自身包含电池,或可充电电路,或用于连接到外部源的接口或这些项中的两项或更多项的组合。
所述通信链路可以是无线通信链路。另选地,所述通信链路可以是有线通信链路。所述通信链路可以适合于数据从电加热吸烟系统到主机的流动。所述通信链路可以适合于数据从主机到电加热吸烟系统的流动。优选地,所述通信链路适合于从电加热吸烟系统到主机以及从主机到电加热吸烟系统的数据的双向流动。优选地,所述通信链路适合于从主机向电加热吸烟系统提供电力。
优选地,所述通信链路按照接口标准工作。接口标准是描述允许两个或更多个系统或各台设备之间的信息交换所需的一个或多个诸如代码转换、线路分配、或协议符合性等功能特性或诸如电、机械或光学特性等物理特性的标准。用于通信链路的适当接口标准的示例包括但不限于:推荐标准232(RS-232)系列标准;通用串行总线(USB);蓝牙;FireWire(Apple公司的商标名称,用于其IEEE 1394接口)、IrDA(红外数据协会-用于通过红外光进行的短程数据交换的通信标准);Zigbee(用于无线个域网的基于IEEE 802.15.4标准的规范)及其它Wi-Fi标准。
在优选实施例中,所述通信链路是通用串行总线USB链路。因为USB通信链路提供双向通信以及电源链路(通常为5V),因此这是有利的。
所述主机可以是个人计算机。所述个人计算机可以是台式计算机。所述个人计算机可以是膝上型计算机或笔记本计算机。所述个人计算机可以是平板计算机,诸如个人数字助理(PDA)、个人信息设备(PID)、便携式媒体播放器(PMP,诸如Apple公司
)或便携式视频播放器(PVP)。所述主机可以是移动蜂窝电话。
所述接口是适合于特定通信链路的接口。例如,在无线通信链路的情况下,所述接口可以包括以下各项之一:用于从主机接收无线信号的接收机;用于向主机发送无线信号的发送机;和用于从主机接收无线信号并向主机发送无线信号的收发机。例如,在有线通信链路的情况下,所述接口可以包括以下两项中的一项或二者:用于与在主机上或连接到主机的母插座(female connector)相连的公插头(male connector);和用于与在主机上或连接到主机的公插头相连的母插座。
所述通信链路优选地适合于以下功能中的一个或多个:用于从主机向系统下载软件;用于从主机向系统下载信息;用于对系统充电;用于从系统向主机上传信息;以及用于向主机注册系统。那些功能可以在主机访问因特网站点的同时发生,或者可以与主机访问因特网站点分开地发生。
优选地,所述电气硬件可由软件进行编程。所述软件可以是可经由通信链路从主机下载的。
优选地,所述电气硬件包括检测指示用户吸烟的气流的传感器。所述传感器可以是电-机设备。另选地,所述传感器可以是以下各项中的任何一个:机械设备、光学设备、光学-机械设备和基于微机电系统(MEMS)的传感器。在这种情况下,优选地将所述电气硬件布置成在传感器感测到用户吸烟时向所述至少一个加热元件提供电流脉冲。优选地,所述电流脉冲的时间段是根据期望的烟雾量预置的。出于此目的,所述电气硬件优选地是可编程的。
另选地,所述电气硬件可以包括用于用户开始吸烟的可手动操作的开关。在这种情况下,优选地将所述电气硬件布置成在用户开始吸烟时向所述至少一个加热元件提供电流脉冲。优选地,所述电流脉冲的时间段是根据期望的烟雾量预置的。出于此目的,所述电硬件优选地是可编程的。

参照图1,在该实施例中,采用设备101形式的电加热吸烟系统包括外壳103,外壳103包含采用锂离子电池(未示出)形式的电源、采用印刷电路板(未示出)形式的电气硬件、采用烟草柱(未示出)形式的烟雾形成基体和采用与烟草柱接触的加热片(未示出)形式的加热元件。外壳103包括用于接纳采用USB连接器107形式的通信链路的第一末端107a的接口,该接口采用USB插座105形式。所述USB连接器107的第二末端107b被插入到采用个人计算机(PC)109形式的主机中。PC 109是因特网使能的。
设备101中的硬件包括软件支持组件的有限集合。这使得设备本身能够在存储器和处理能力方面保持相对简单。用于该设备的扩展能力(将在下文中讨论)在因特网使能PC 109上操控(host),并根据需要将其转移到设备101或从设备101转移。因此,该设备可以经由PC 109连接到一个或多个许可的因特网站点。在本实施例中,所述链路是USB链路,其提供双向通信,并且还可以向设备提供电力。
可以有许多扩展能力,如下:
首先,可以将软件从PC下载到设备。所述软件可以随着软件的开发或为了改正特定的缺陷而包括软件的更新版本。另选地或附加地,所述软件可以包括附加特征,其例如可在用户进行支付之后下载。这消除了将设备返回给供应商或制造商以进行软件下载的需要。此能力不限于图1的设备101和PC 109,而是可以应用于根据本发明的任何电加热吸烟系统。
其次,可以将信息从PC下载到设备。例如,用户可以通过指定诸如在每个时间段允许的最大吸烟次数和各次吸烟之间的最小间隔等信息来对设备进行个人化定制。这可以帮助管理吸烟行为。另选地或附加地,用户可以指定所使用的烟草柱的商标,然后可以将控制参数从PC下载到设备以针对该商标使吸烟体验最优化。另选地或附加地,可以下载其它特征,例如在所选间歇期之后的自动关闭。这可以用作安全特征以防止丢失或被盗的设备在没有授权的情况下被使用。同样,此能力不限于图1的设备101和PC 109,而是可以应用于根据本发明的任何电加热吸烟系统。如果用户指定商标,则这将是所使用的特定烟雾形成基体的商标。
第三,PC可以向设备提供电力。例如,如果设备包含可再充电电池或其它可充电电路,则可以使用该连接来对电池或电路进行再充电。这可以是图1的实施例中的情况。或者,如果设备不包含内部电源,则PC可以在设备被吸烟者使用时向设备提供电力。这将意味着必须在使用设备时使设备与PC相连。此能力不限于图1的设备101和PC 109,而是可以应用于根据本发明的任何电加热吸烟系统。
第四,可以将信息从设备上传到PC。例如,为了在临床试验期间获取吸烟行为信息,用户可以简单地将设备连接到PC以上传数据。这将使大部分数据收集和分析自动化,在使手动系统所固有的数据误差最小化的同时加速该处理。或者,为了帮助管理吸烟行为,用户可以上传吸烟行为信息以跟踪数据并记录改进。同样,此能力不限于图1的设备101和PC 109,而是可以应用于根据本发明的任何电加热吸烟系统。
第五,可以将所述连接用于用户向在PC上支持的因特网应用程序注册设备。例如,如果通过邮寄来供应设备,则可以将其用作安全特征,使得设备只有在注册之后才能启用。此能力不限于图1的设备101和PC109,而是可以应用于根据本发明的任何电加热吸烟系统。
其它可能的能力包括但不限于:
·吸烟时支付功能。例如,用户从在PC上支持的因特网应用程序购买每天或每周或每月吸烟时间,或者用户获得经由因特网应用程序购买的基于香烟及其它吸烟物品的吸烟时间信用证(credit)。
·可以向设备预先加载可以用来从因特网应用程序购买诸如吸烟物品等项目的信用证。
·在PC上操控的因特网应用程序可以是用于帮助戒烟的许可支持群组因特网站点。因特网应用程序可以在监视吸烟行为的同时提供受控量的吸烟时间。
·如果设备采用单独的吸烟物品进行操作,则当设备连接到PC时,因特网应用程序可以推荐最适合于设备的吸烟物品。或者,类似地,对于任何类型的烟雾形成基体而言,因特网应用程序可以推荐最适合于设备的商标。
·如果设备采用单独的吸烟物品进行操作,则因特网应用程序可以监视使用并在需要时自动地对附加吸烟物品进行预先排序。或者,类似地,对于任何类型的烟雾形成基体而言,因特网应用程序可以监视使用并在适当时对烟雾形成基体进行预先排序。
·因特网应用程序可以监视设备的使用并在适当的时刻推荐维护。
·所述设备可以包括附加功能,诸如MP3播放器、卫星导航等等,其可以从PC下载到设备。
很明显,这些能力不限于图1的设备101和PC 109,而是可以应用于根据本发明的任何电加热吸烟系统。
因此,可以提供大量扩展能力,而不限于以上列出的那些。用于经由通信链路连接到主机的接口使电加热吸烟系统本身能够保持制造起来相对简单且低成本,同时经由通信链路提供了用于高级功能的能力。
Claims (12)
1.一种接纳烟雾形成基体的电加热吸烟系统,该系统包括:
至少一个加热元件,用于加热所述基体以形成烟雾;
电源,用于向所述至少一个加热元件供电;
电气硬件,连接到所述电源和所述至少一个加热元件;
接口,用于建立向因特网使能主机上传数据以及从因特网使能主机下载数据的通信链路,并且
其中,所述电气硬件能够由软件进行编程,该软件能够经由所述通信链路从所述因特网使能主机下载。
2.根据权利要求1所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述烟雾形成基体是固体基体。
3.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述烟雾形成基体是液体基体。
4.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述电源包括包含在所述电加热吸烟系统中的电池。
5.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述电源包括可由外部充电部分充电的电路。
6.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述电源包括用于与外部电源连接的接口。
7.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述通信链路适合于从所述主机向所述电加热吸烟系统提供电力。
8.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述通信链路是无线通信链路。
9.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述通信链路是有线通信链路。
10.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,其中,所述电气硬件包括检测指示用户吸烟的气流的传感器。
11.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,还包括用于指示所述至少一个加热元件何时被激活的吸烟指示器。
12.根据权利要求1或权利要求2所述的电加热吸烟系统,还包括接纳所述烟雾形成基体并被设计为由用户握住的外壳,该外壳包括壳体和可替换管嘴。
