一直到最近,用作造纸机机罩的织物一直是使用管式编织方法编织成环状的,或一直是先编织成扁平状的,接着再使用接缝连接成环形形状。在这两种情况下,由于造纸机机罩具有约60至450英寸(1.5至11.4厘米)的沿其环形形状的横向测量的宽度,和约10英尺或更长(3.1米或更长)的沿其环形形状的纵向测量的长度,生产造纸机机罩都需要各种尺寸的织机,包括昂贵的大型编织机。不管织物是编织成环形的或是编织成扁平状的再缝合成环形形状,编织过程都是耗时的和繁重的操作。
在最近的进步中,授予Rexfelt等人的美国专利5360656中所描述的一种挤压织物包括一个用纱线材料织物制成并且在其纵向(机器)方向上是环形的底层织物。一层或多层纤维织物被安置在底层织物上,并且用针缝制到其上。挤压织物的底层织物包括至少一层由纱线材料的螺旋形绕制的织物带构成的料层,该纱线材料的宽度小于底层织物的宽度。螺旋形绕制的的纱线材料织物带的纵向纱线与挤压织物的纵向(机器)方向形成一个角度。纱线材料的织物带可以在比一般用在造纸机机罩的生产中的编织机窄的编织机上平织而成。
底层织物包括多个螺旋形绕制的并且接合起来的的较窄机织织物带的匝。织物带是用纵向(经向)和横向(纬向)纱线编织成的。螺旋形绕制的的织物带的毗邻的匝可以相互靠接在一起,这样产生的连续的接缝可以通过缝制、缝合、熔接或焊接的方式闭合上。另一种方法是,毗邻的螺旋匝的毗邻的纵向边缘部分可以搭接地安置,只要边缘具有减小的厚度以便在搭接区域不会导致厚度增加。此外,在纵向纱线之间的空隙在带的边缘处可以增加,以便当毗邻的螺旋匝搭接地安置时,在搭接区域的纵向股线之间有不变的空隙。在任何情况下,都可以得到具有一个内表面、一个外表面、一个纵向(机器方向)和一个横向(机器横向)的编织底层织物。然后将编织的底层织物的侧向边缘修整好以便使它们平行于其纵向(机器方向)方向。编织的底层织物的机器方向和螺旋的连续接缝之间的夹角可以较小,一般小于10°。
在美国专利US 5360656中所示的方法中,织物带绕在两根平行辊上以便组成编织的底层织物。可以看出,通过将一较窄的机织织物带片螺旋地绕在两根平行辊上的方式可以提供具有各种宽度和长度的环状织物,具体的环状底层织物的长度取决于编织的织物带的每个螺旋匝的长度,而宽度取决于编织的织物带的螺旋匝的数量。这样就可以避免必须先按定单编织具有规定的长度和宽度的完整底层织物。相反,象20英寸(0.5厘米)那样窄的编织机可以用来生产编织的织物带,但是,因实际的原因,最好用具有40至60英寸(1.0至1.5厘米)宽度的常规的纺织机。
在美国专利US 5360656中所示的制造方法具有若干固有的特性和成本优点。使用超声波能量来将机织的织物带的毗邻的匝相互连接起来的本发明被认为是在先有技术上的一种改进。
因此,本发明包括制造造纸机的织物的方法,以及根据这种方法制造的织物,其中机织的织物带的毗邻的匝通过超声波能量互相结合起来。
该方法的实施包括用纵向纱线和横向纱线制造一条机织的织物带的步骤。机织织物带可以在编织和存放到一个储料辊上之后进行热定形以备后用。在任何情况下,该机织织物带都具有一个第一侧边缘,一个第二侧边缘和一个在这两个侧边缘之间测量的预选宽度,该宽度一般要远小于要用其制造的造纸机的织物的宽度。
沿着机织织物带的第一和第二侧边缘中的至少一个延伸到其外的是一个侧向边缘。该侧向边缘是用从机织织物带带体上延伸出来的横向纱线的端部制成的。
织物带可以是编织的以便沿着其第一和第二侧边中的至少一个设置一条侧向边缘。
织物带还具有一个上侧和一个下侧,并且可以向上面指出的那样,是宽度象20英寸(0.5厘米)那样窄,但是具体地说,宽度可以是从40至60英寸(1.0至1.5米)的范围,该宽度在任何情况下都要窄于一般的造纸机的织物的沿横向(在机器的横向方向)测量的宽度。
然后将织物带以多匝螺旋地卷绕到也许两个平行的辊上,如上面所述那样。卷绕的方式要使得每一匝的侧向边缘盖在毗邻匝的织物带的上侧,或处在毗邻匝的织物带的下侧下面。因此,在织物带沿其侧边具有一个侧向边缘的部位处,每一匝中的织物带的一个侧向边缘盖在毗邻匝的侧向边缘上,而每一匝中的织物带的其他侧向边缘处在毗邻匝的侧向边缘下面。此外、织物带体的每一匝的第一侧边靠压在其毗邻匝的第二侧边上。这样就形成了分开织物带的毗邻匝的螺旋形连续接缝。实际上,沿着该接缝具有一个在织物带体的匝之间形成的一个对接缝和一个通过对织物带体的侧向边缘的复盖或通过侧向边缘的复盖和铺垫形成的搭接缝构成的组合缝。
然后设置一个超声波焊接设备和一个砧座以便将螺旋状连续接缝合上。接缝的长度方向部分在超声波焊接设备的电极臂和该砧座之间进行挤压,该电极臂受到驱动以便将超声波能量传递到其上实现焊接。螺旋状连续接缝的每个长度方向部分都这样处理以完成该操作。
最好是,砧座是一个可转动的圆筒形或轮状构件,该构件具有一个在将接缝合上时电极臂将接缝挤压在其上的圆周表面。在这种情况下,接缝可以在长度方向在该电极臂和砧座之间连续地运行以便在一个连续的操作中合上接缝。在此操作中,沿螺旋状卷绕的织物带的每个匝的侧向边缘以超声波方式粘接到其毗邻匝的编织部分的上侧或下侧上。在侧向边缘沿织物带的两个侧边设置的情况下,在螺旋状卷绕的编织带的每个匝中的一个侧向边缘以超声波的方式粘接到其毗邻匝的卷绕部分的上侧上,而另一侧向边缘则以超声波方式粘接到其毗邻匝的卷绕部分的下侧上。当螺旋状连续接缝完全这样合上时,其结果是得到这样一种环状造纸机织物,该织物具有一个绕其循环带的机器方向,一个横贯其循环带的机器横向方向,一个内表面和一个外表面。机织织物带的纵向纱与环状造纸机织物的机器方向形成一个角度。该角度是螺旋卷绕物的节距的量度,一般小于10°。
由于环状造纸机织物是由螺旋卷绕物组合成的,因此有必要修整其侧边以便使它们平行环状造纸机织物的机器方向。
根据本发明方法制造的造纸机织物可以用作成形织物或干燥织物,用作成形、挤压或干燥织物中的部件,或用作涂覆有聚合物的造纸工业处理带的底层,例如长的辊隙挤压带的底层。成形、挤压或干燥织物,或用于涂覆有聚合物的造纸工业处理带可以包括两个或多个由根据本发明的方法制成的造纸机织物构成的料层。在这种情况下,毗邻层可以在相反的方向上螺旋地卷绕。特别是当用作挤压织物的部件时,它可以在其内表面和外表面中的至少一个上与合成纤维材料的未编织边用针缝制在一起。
现参照附图对本发明进行更加完全详细地说明,这些附图说明如下。

现参照若干附图,图1是示出用于制造造纸机织物的方法的示意俯视图。该方法可以使用设备10来实现,该设备10包括一个第一辊12和一个第二辊14,这两个辊相互平行并且可以沿箭头所示方向转动。机织织物带16从一个储带辊18以连续的螺旋方式卷绕到第一辊12和第二辊14上。可以看出,有必要在织物带16卷绕到辊12,14上时将储带辊18以合适的速度沿第二辊14移动。
第一辊12和第二辊14隔开一个距离D,该距离是参照制造造纸机织物所需要的总长度C确定的,该总长度C是绕着造纸机织物的循环带沿纵向(机器方向)测量的。机织织物带16具有宽度W,它从储带辊18以多个匝螺旋地卷绕到第一和第二辊12,14上,该储带辊在卷绕的过程中沿第二辊14移动。织物带16的顺序的各个匝以下面所描述的方式相互相对地设置,并且沿螺旋状连续接缝20相互粘接起来以便产生如图2所示那样的造纸机织物22。当制成的织物带16的匝的数量足以产生出具有所要求宽度W的造纸机织物22时,就得到了螺旋卷绕物,其中该宽度是横贯造纸机织物22的循环带横向地(在机器横向方向上)测得的。这样得到的造纸机织物22具有一个内表面,一个外表面,一个机器方向和一个机器横向方向。最初,造纸机织物的侧边显然不平行于机器方向,并且必须沿线24加以修整以便使造纸机织物22具有要求的宽度W,并且使两个侧边平行于其循环带的机器方向。
织物带16可以用象聚脂或聚酰氨树脂那样的合成聚合树脂的单丝、合股单丝或多丝纱线以与用在造纸机工业中的其他织物编织的相同方式编织而成。在编织之后在暂时储存在储带辊18上之前用常规的方式对其进行热定形。织物带16包括纵向纱线和横向纱线,其中例如,纵向纱线可以是合股单丝纱线,而横向纱线可以是单丝纱线。此外,织物带16可以是单层或多层编织的。
另一种方法是,织物带16可以用常规的方法加以编织和热定形,然后从热定形部件直接输送到设备10而不暂时储存到储带辊18上。通过合适的材料的选择和产品构造(编织的形式,纱线的尺寸和支数)还可以略去热定形。在这种情况下,织物带16就从编织机输送到设备10而无需暂时储存在储带辊18上。
图3是沿图1中3-3线截取的织物带16的剖视图。它包括纵向纱线26和横向纱线28,两者都以交织在一个单层编织结构中的单丝来表示。更准确地说,所示的是一种平面编织形式,尽管可以理解到,织物带16是可以根据通常用于编织造纸机织物的编织方式中的任何一种方式进行编织的。由于织物带16是螺旋地卷绕形成造纸机织物22,因此纵向纱线26和横向纱线28就没有分别与造纸机织物22的机器方向和横向机器方向对准。相反,纵向纱线26与造纸机织物22的机器方向形成一个小的角度θ,该角度的大小是衡量织物带16的螺旋卷绕物的节距的量度,这从图2所示的平面俯视图看去可知。此角度如前面所指出的那样,一般小于10°。
机织织物带16具有一个第一侧边30和一个第二侧边32。沿织物带16的该第一和第二侧边30,32的分别是第一侧向边缘34和第二侧向边缘36。第一和第二侧向边缘34,36是横向纱线28的线端,它们没有被纵向纱线26粘接住而是延伸到第一和第二侧边30,32之外。另一种方法是,第一和第二侧边30,32中只要一个具有侧向边缘。该侧向边缘或该些侧向边缘34,36可以通过从该侧边或该些侧边30,32去掉一根或多根纵向纱线26的方式提供。另一种方法是,织物带16可以以这样的方式编织,即给其提供第一和/或第二侧向边缘34,36而不需要从其第一和/或第二侧边30,32上去掉纵向纱线26。在任何情况下,第一和第二侧边30,32都形成机织织物带16的带体的宽度。
图4是沿图1中4-4线截取的剖视图,用来说明织物带16卷绕到第一和第二平行辊12,14上形成螺旋状连续接缝20的方式。一旦完成织物带16的多个螺旋卷绕匝的第一匝,就这样设置顺序的匝使得其带体的第一侧边30靠压在织物带16的带体的前面卷绕的匝的第二侧边32上。因此,每个匝的第二侧向边缘36就设置在紧接着的匝的第一侧边30下侧。这样,如图4所示那样,在第一个匝之后的每个匝的第一侧向边缘34就设置在紧接着的前面匝的第二侧边32的上面。
根据本发明,这样设置的位于织物带上面和下面的第一和第二侧向边缘34,36用超声波的方式分别粘接到机织织物带16上。参看图5,在图4中所示出的螺旋状连续接缝20示意地示出在超声波焊接设备的电极臂40和一个砧座42之间。
该砧座42最好是可转动的圆筒形或轮状构件,该构件的外圆周表面44在超声波焊接时起着电极臂40将螺旋状连续接缝20靠压在其上的表面的作用。为了进行焊接或粘接,启动超声波焊接设备使得在将螺旋状连续接缝20压靠在砧座的表面44上的同时以超声波的频率振动以便将第一和/或第二侧向边缘34,36分别粘接到织物带16的第二和/或第一侧边32,30上。
砧座42的外圆周表面44最好是以较深的花纹进行滚花,使得可以进行点焊而不是连续焊接。花纹可以是中凹的菱形交叉的花纹。这可使螺旋状连续接缝20与织物的其他部位接缝相比具有敞开性和多孔性。
一个象砧座42那样的可转动砧座通过允许接缝20以图5中的箭头所示的方式在电极臂40和可转动的砧座42之间连续地延伸而便于对螺旋状连续接缝20进行连续地焊接或粘接。在这种情况下,电极臂40和砧座42可以保持固定,而螺旋状连续接缝20在它们之间延伸以便进行接合。不过,可能比较实用的方法是,将电极臂40和砧座42相互相对地固定住,并且以与储带辊18相同的移动方式在平行于第一和第二平行辊的方向上将它们横向地移动到一起,同时螺旋状连续接缝20在电极臂40和砧座42之间通过以便合上接缝20。而更加实用的方法是,将电极臂40和砧座42相互相对固定住和保持不动,并且当螺旋状连续接缝20被合上时横向移动造纸机织物22。在这种情况下,储带辊18相对于电极臂40和砧座42保持在固定位置上。在任何情况下,都设置板46来在螺旋状连续接缝20的两侧支撑织物带16。
图6是沿图1中6-6线截取的剖视图,示出了通过超声波焊接合上之后的接缝。第一侧向边缘34粘接到第二侧边32的顶部上,而第二侧向边缘36粘接到第一侧边30的底侧上,借此合上螺旋状连续接缝20。
下面的实例用来说明本发明:
实例
使用Branson Model FS-90超声波焊接台来形成上述类型的接缝。所使用的织物带是一种通常用作挤压织物底层的9oz/yd2(300g/m2)尼龙织物,它是用单丝纬纱和合股单丝经纱以单层平纹样式编织的。超声波焊接螺旋状连续接缝按下面方式提供:
1.将经纱从待连接的织物带的织边上拆散(去掉)使得填充纱的5/32英寸(4mm)边缘暴露出来。在生产应用中,此边缘可以按要求编织到织边内;
2.将待连接的织物带的两个侧边啮合起来使得第一织物带的边缘复盖在第二织物带的上侧,并且使第二织物带的边缘处在第一织物带的底侧下面。对置的织物带的侧边的完全编织没有起边纹的部分在一个共同的平面中紧紧地对接到一起。实际上,侧边的边纹部分形成一个搭接接头而完全编织的部分形成一个对接接头。
3.使用直径为2.5英寸(64mm),宽0.25英寸(6.4mm)的转动轮作为超声波焊接台的砧座。该轮的0.25英寸宽的表面已经作了滚花以便得到一种中凹的菱形交叉的滚花样式。把织物带侧边固定在上述的啮合件中,它们以10英尺/分钟(3米/分钟)的输送速率通过转动的砧座和一个平展面的超声波振动的电极臂之间,尽管可以采用更快的输送速率。此超声波焊接步骤产生了一个特别适用于其预定用途的接缝。
横贯接缝的拉伸试验产生了平均34.0lb/in(5.95kN/m)的接缝强度。通过对比,测得的织物带的填充方向的强度大致为171lb/in(30kN/m),平均接缝强度约为填充方向强度的20%。这就更加适合于本发明主要用途。
对在织物带的接缝和其余部分之间的厚度的差别进行测量,织物带自身约为0.032英寸(0.81mm)厚。一般发现接缝厚度大于或小于织物带自身的厚度0.001到0.002英寸(0.025到0.050mm)。在一个极限的例子中,接缝厚于织物带0.007英寸(0.18mm)。
目测检查接缝可以看出在接缝中保持了大量的织物开口。
熟悉现有技术的人显然可以对上面的结构进行改进,而不会使本发明的变更超出所附权利要求书的范围。
例如,如上面所述那样,本发明可以通过只对机织织物带16的两个侧边中的一个侧边提供侧向边缘的方式实施,要么将一根或多根纵向纱线26从两个侧边中的一个上去掉或以这样的方式编织织物带16,即沿其两个侧边中的一个侧边提供一个侧向边缘。沿其两个侧边中的一个侧边具有一个侧向边缘的机织织物带16是螺旋地编织的使得该侧向边缘位于织物带的毗邻匝的侧边的上面或下面。换句话说,本发明是按上面所述进行实施的,除了略去了第二侧向边缘36。螺旋状连续接缝20的特征是在织物带16的第一和第二侧边30,32之间的对接接头和通过在织物带16的一个匝上的侧向边缘盖在织物带16的毗邻匝上或垫在其下的方式形成的搭接接头的组合接头。
最后应该理解到,虽然在上面描述的方法中,织物带16的后面的匝的侧向边缘34盖在先前卷绕的匝的第二侧边32上,但是熟悉现有技术的人可以采用不同的方式而不脱离由所附权利要求书所限定的本发明的范围。例如,织物带16后面卷绕的匝可以处在先前卷绕的匝的第二侧边下面,其结果是使侧向边缘34位于先前的匝的第二侧边32下面。如果织物带16在这种情况下包括第一和第二侧向边缘34,36两者,则第二侧向边缘36因此将设置在下一匝的第一侧边30的上面。

Claims (24)

1.一种用于制造造纸机织物的方法,该方法包括下列步骤:
a)用纵向纱线和横向纱线制造一个机织织物带,所述机织织物带具有一个第一侧边,一个第二侧边和在所述第一和第二侧边之间横向测量的限定一个机织织物带带体的预定宽度,所述机织织物带还具有一个沿着所述第一侧边并且超出该侧边延伸的第一侧向边缘,所述第一侧向边缘是所述横向纱线的线端;
b)把所述织物带螺旋地卷绕成多个匝,其中所述在所述机织织物带带体的某个匝中的所述第一侧边靠压在所述机织织物带带体的一个毗邻匝的所述第二侧边上,借此,在所述机织织物带的一个匝中的所述第一侧向边缘盖在其毗邻匝中的所述机织织物带的上面或垫在其下面,从而形成分开所述机织织物带的毗邻匝的螺旋状连续接缝;
c)提供一个超声波设备,该设备具有一个用于将超声波能量传递到所述螺旋状连续接缝上的电极臂;
d)提供一个砧座,所述电极臂将所述螺旋状连续接缝的一部分压靠在该砧座上;
e)在所述电极臂和所述砧座之间对所述螺旋状连续接缝的所述部分进行挤压;
f)致动所述电极臂以便将超声波能量传递给所述螺旋状连续接缝的所述部分上;
g)将所述螺旋状连续接缝相对于所述电极臂和所述砧座纵向移动以便通过将所述第一侧向边缘粘接到其毗邻匝中的所述机织织物带上的方式合上所述螺旋状连续接缝。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:所述制造机织织物带的步骤包括从其一个侧边上去掉至少一个纵向纱线以便沿所述第一侧边提供所述第一侧向边缘的步骤。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:所述机织织物带还具有一个沿所述第二侧边延伸到该侧边之外的第二侧向边缘,所述第二侧向边缘还是所述横向纱线的线端。
4.如权利要求3所述的方法,其特征在于:所述制造机织织物带的步骤还包括从其侧边上去掉至少一根纵向纱线以便沿所述第二侧向边缘提供所述第二侧向边缘的步骤。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:所述机织织物带是单层编织形式。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:所述机织织物带是多层编织形式。
7.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:所述纵向纱线和所述横向纱线是用合成聚合树脂制成的。
8.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:螺旋地卷绕所述织物带的步骤是通过将所述织物带螺旋地卷绕到至少两个平行辊上的方式进行的。
9.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:该方法还包括在所述制造所述织物带的步骤后对所述机织织物带进行热定形的步骤。
10.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于:该方法还包括修整所述造纸机织物以便给所述造纸机织物提供相互平行并且平行于其机器方向并且形成所述织物的宽度的侧边。

13.一种造纸机织物,该织物包括用纵向纱线和横向纱线编织成的织物带,所述织物带具有由一个机织织物带带体分开的一个第一侧边和一个第二侧边,所述第一侧边具有一个由延伸到所述第一侧边外的所述横向纱线的线端形成的第一侧向边缘,所述织物带以多个连续的匝螺旋地卷绕,其中在所述织物带带体的匝中的所述第一侧边靠压在其毗邻匝中的所述第二侧边上,借此形成将所述织物带的毗邻匝分开的螺旋状连续接缝,所述螺旋状连续接缝通过以超声波的方式将所述第一侧向边缘沿在其毗邻匝中的所述第二侧边粘接到所述织物带上的方式合上,借此提供一个环状的造纸机织物,该造纸机织物具有一个机器方向,一个机器横向方向,一个内表面和一个外表面。
14.如权利要求13所述的造纸机织物,其特征在于:所述织物带的所述第二侧边具有一个由所述延伸到所述第二侧边外的横向纱线的线端形成的第二侧向边缘,其中所述第二侧向边缘是通过超声波方式沿其毗邻匝中的所述第一侧边粘接到所述织物带上。
