随着向终端用户发送电视和视频节目的更新更好方式的不断发展，以及计算机化的信息系统例如因特网和相关的万维网(WWW)的并行发展，已经投入相当的努力集成多种系统以提供增强的信息和娱乐系统。例如，开发人员引进了将电视和计算机子系统结合起来的集成系统，使得可以将电视机作为WEB浏览器使用。

在本发明的实施例中，电视节目的单个图象，例如人物、物体等，以某种方式与统一资源定位器相连，使得观众可以选中图象并藉此激活连结的统一资源定位器，该统一资源定位器导向一个提供图象相关信息的WEB地点。在本发明的大多数优选实施例中，与统一资源定位器相关的图象被突出显示，例如通过特定的颜色，增强的亮度(一个光环)，或者一个外框。还可以使用其他形式的突出方式。
图1是可以用于实现本发明的置顶盒11的方框图。置顶盒11比许多实施例中实现本发明要求的更复杂并拥有更强的功能，但可以作为所使用平台的良好例子。
在盒11中，解码器/调节器13从多个信息源接收信号，例如卫星链路15，有线电视线路17以及VCR输入16。本实施例中的80486 CPU19提供管理和计算功能，并通过链路21与解码器/调节器13相连。在其他实施例中，也可能使用其他CPU。解码器/调节器13接收和解码链路15上的卫星信号，线路17上的有线电视信号和线路16上的VCR视频信号。
除了置顶盒中的CPU和解码器/调节器，还有动态图象专家组(MPEG)解码器25，用于解释以MPEG1、MPEG2或未来的格式向置顶盒提供的数据，从而提供信号以驱动电视或显示器。MPEG是视频数据的工业标准协议，在技术中广为人知。
MPEG解码器25通过链路27与CPU19相配，通过链路29与解码器/调节器13相配。MPEG解码器25通过输出线31连接到带视频内存(VRAM)的视频图形适配器(VGA)芯片或芯片组33。VGA芯片组用于通过常规的电路驱动电视屏幕或计算机显示屏。还可能使用其它类型的视频电路。
模拟电话调制解调器35与电话线37和CPU 19相连，提供与远程地点的通信，用于付费电视业务，以及诊断和下载服务。实施例中可选的ISDN接口39与数字数据光缆41和CPU 19相连，提供数字电话通信，可用于替代或加强模拟调制解调器35。还提供与光盘只读存储器(CD-ROM)驱动器43和硬盘驱动器45的可选接口。此处描述的调制解调器非常方便，是可以用于因特网访问的网络接口模块(NIM)的例子。
置顶盒11包括带有这些BIOS功能的ROM47和动态随机存取内存(DRAM)49。储存在DRAM 48中的操作代码48根据本发明的优选实施例提供功能，被CPU 19以可访问和执行的常规方式记录下来。代码48还包括一个WEB浏览器和实现根据本发明实施例的特定功能的例程，这在下文中有详细描述。WEB服务器用于访问WWW上的服务器，例如所示的与链路37相连的服务器54。服务器54代表任何可以通过与图1中系统相连的一个调制解调器拨号的WEB服务器。
对于那些熟悉计算机技术的人员来说，很明显图1中所示置顶盒11使用的通信链路显示的是数据流，并非用于指明特定连接的类型和带宽。例如，众所周知所描述类型的CPU在并行总线上，以ISA总线、EISA总线等工业标准方式中的总线控制器所控制的总线周期进行通信。还可以使用其他类型的通信链路，例如通用串行总线(USB)等。
在图1中的置顶盒中，VGA电路33的输出链路20和22用于驱动电视51和/或计算机显示器53，多个实施例中的显示在两者之一或两者上同时进行。还有一个红外线通信遥控器63提供常规的遥控功能，以及由双向按扭67和选择按扭69进行的光标控制和选择。来自遥控器63的红外通讯指向置顶盒中的接收器65。
技术中众所周知的是，用于在显示屏上显示图象的数据流传输是以可辨别帧的方式进行的。无论其数据源是储存(预记录)的数据流，还是现场传输，也无论传输是数字式还是模拟式的，这都是成立的。任何案例中的特定技术在技术上都是大家熟知的，故在此说明中无需详细描述。
在一帧帧进行传输时，技术上所知的是，它用于传输两帧之间的信息。数字传输的格式允许这些数据存在，模拟电视传输在两帧之间有空行存在，这些空行用于一定空间和时间范围内的数据传输。例如，为黑白电视节目着色的信息以这种方式编码，使其成为有听力障碍者的特别字幕。在本发明的多个实施例中，辨别以帧形式发送的一个或多个实体图象以找出在帧中的位置和地区范围，并和WWW统一资源定位器链接。作为一个简化例，在为某种品牌的汽车作广告时，可以在每帧中的某处放置一个图标或标识。例如，该标识可以是该汽车品牌的特定标识，如众所周知的福特(FordTM)，雪佛莱(ChevroletTM)以及宝马(BMWTM)标识。该标识可以在广告中以技术上熟知的常规方式提供。图2A是在帧中的特定位置带有特定的区域内容的BMW标识显示的帧55的简化描述。
在此例中，BMW广告是预先录制的广告，可能会多次传输和显示，就象广告片在电视节目的间隙典型地显示一样。在广告片的录制或现存已录制广告片的编辑过程中，录制数据在帧的间隙传输，用于辨别出相邻帧内BMW标识的位置和内容，并将此标识与特定的WWW统一资源定位器链接起来，此处的通用格式为http://www.bmw.com。统一资源定位器是WWW上的定位器，表示由BMW维护的WEB服务器提供的主页，并作为储存传输广告中信息的细节库。
在本发明的可选实施例中，帧中的不同实体可以与不同的统一资源定位器相连，用于指引用户到达WEB上的不同主页或同一主页的多个数据地点。汽车本身可以被高亮显示，并与统一资源定位器及标识连接，而汽车的统一资源定位器又指向最新车型的信息，本例中可能指向http://www.vmw.com/latestmodel。
图2B显示的是数据流59，其中第一帧61和其后的第二帧65的数据被数据区域63分离，后者带有标识帧61中用于鉴别BMW标识57的位置和范围的数据。下一个数据区域67紧跟着帧59，也可以鉴别该帧中BMW标识的位置和范围，还带有与标志连接的统一资源定位器。以这种方式，每一帧都有与之相连接的带有图象位置、范围数据和连接统一资源定位器的数据区域。
在常规的接收系统中，并没有将计算机的功能和电视功能集成在一起提供，也没有使用包括统一资源定位器在内的附加数据，后者当数据处于两帧之间时透明地传输，这样的常规电视系统中只使用帧数据。然而，图1所示类型的系统中，因为计算机的功能已经与电视的功能集成，所以可以用一种特殊的方法使用帧之间的数据。
在带有CPU和内存的系统中，同时还配备了根据本发明实施例的特殊控制例程，用一种访问WEB页面的熟悉方式将BMW标识作为交互式屏幕区域处理。集成了电视电路的计算机系统在屏幕上显示光标70，光标的定位是由用户移动手持式遥控器63的按扭67实现的。在其他系统中，光标控制可以由指点装置或通过另一种方便的方式完成。
继续考察BMW广告的实例，当显示包括BMW标识57的电视帧时，观众可以激活光标(当观众操纵某个按钮67时，光标也可以自动激活)。根据本发明实施例的特定控制例程，帧之间的数据被分离出来，并在执行控制例程时用于辨别相邻帧中标识57的位置和地区范围以及链接的统一资源定位器。
如果观众对附加信息感兴趣，他/她可能会操纵光标接触标识57的区域从而激活一个选定信号，例如按下遥控器上的一个按钮69。一旦接收到由光标接触BMW标识而产生的选中信号，系统执行浏览器例程，访问WWW，并拨通以上所述在WWW上由BMW公司维护的WEB服务器(参照图1的服务器54和调制解调器35或39)。电视传输的帧之间的数据区域中的统一资源定位器与BMW标识相连接，是拨号时的WWW地址。
一旦观众激活了本发明的系统，就建立了与BMW的WEB服务器的连接，然后可以用多种方式之一进行处理。在一个实施例中，电视显示被挂起，从BMW服务器上下载的WEB主页显示出来。优选地，电视继续显示，下载的WEB页面显示在图2C中所示的窗口71中覆盖电视显示。以这种方式，可以扩大或缩小窗口71，将其移动到屏幕上并应观众要求关闭。同样，与附加信息或相关WEB页面连接的交互式区域可以用光标70和选择按钮69激活，似乎顶层窗口中的WEB页面就是通过常规的WEB浏览器在计算机显示器上显示的一个页面。此功能包括通过滚动条等滚动的能力，就象WWW上的WEB页面提供的功能那样。在多个实施例中，由于显示器的尺寸限制，我们并不将WEB页面放入一个显示窗口中，而是以某个最小尺寸维护WEB页面，如果窗口太小，不能显示所有的WEB页面，可以提供技术上众所周知的扫描和移动功能访问整个页面。
图2C的窗口71中显示的BMW WEB页面是为电视观众提供WWW访问丰富信息的入口，但是在原来的电视广告中不提供。例如，这些信息可能包括可用的颜色(带例子)，正文样式(带图片)，性能数据，详细的价格结构，可用的销售和租赁条款，可进行演示驾驶和会晤公司代表的最近地点等等。如果系统的装备足够，甚至可以下载演示录象并为观众播放。进一步，更重要的是可以获得预先填好的定购单。购买销售商产品的过程中毫不费力并且是用户/购买者友好的。
除了可以访问这些附加信息外，因特网链接的双向功能还允许观众通过访问WEB页面，填写输入域向服务器发送信息，当然首先要求观众使用的系统有文本输入能力，例如至少要有一个最小的键盘。
BMW汽车广告的例子只不过是本发明领域中的一个特例。在实施例的变化中，与统一资源定位器连接的图象域可能是一幅汽车的图象，而不是BMW的标识。活动图象区域在电视广告中也可以移动，帧间的数据可以跟踪屏幕的位置和范围，所以光标的移动可以实时随动态图象调整。
除了跟踪和调整动态图象，还可以用某种方式突出显示动态图象，指示用户点击动态图象可访问更多信息。采用的方式可以是在屏幕上以某种方式加上轮廓，调整亮度和/或对比度，色彩变化，以上技术的组合或其他技术。
用这种方式可以根据本发明的实施例，将电视传输中的任何图象与动态统一资源定位器链接，从而访问与图象有关的附加信息。
在最小的实施例中，一个统一资源定位器可能如上所述与帧间的区域相连，一旦点击该图象，就会在屏幕上显示统一资源定位器的文本信息，便于观众记忆或拷贝。还可将该统一资源定位器下载到存储设备中，便于日后打印出来或在浏览时使用。
本发明的应用和实施例举不胜举。BMW广告的连接只是一个商业应用，人们可以想出许多此类商业广告的应用。
例如其他实施例里，在电视节目而不是广告中，男女演员可能与指向WEB页面的统一资源定位器相连，该页面上有同一演员主演的其他电影或节目的信息，个人经历信息以及可用性和对其他作品的喜好(对于代理人等而言)。在政治方面，问题的定位，将要到来的团结和停战等都可以从带有根据本发明的活动区域的政治站点获得。在体育事件方面，可以提供某些运动员的信息，以及关于比赛日程、即将到来的比赛、纪录、加时赛的可能性等信息。体育组织还可以提供本季度票价等信息，甚至能通过因特网链接卖票。
图3A是描述与数据流链接的设备所采用步骤的流程图。该数据流含有与本发明的实施例连接的动态统一资源定位器。
在步骤83处，接收数据流，它与图象帧数据分离的数据区中带有实体数据和一个或多个动态统一资源定位器。一个或多个统一资源定位器通过标签与图象实体链接。可以将统一资源定位器在图象之前发送并将其存储在高速缓存内。那么，一旦同时要显示多幅图象，将给实体分配更大的带宽，而统一资源定位器数据的带宽则相应减少。
在步骤85处，帧间数据被分离出来并提供给CPU接收平台上(参见图1)的计算机部件，执行根据本发明实施例的动态统一资源定位器控制例程。由接收交互系统的常规电视部件在步骤89处从帧数据中提供普通的电视图片。
在步骤91处，处理帧间区域中的数据增强显示识别出的实体，增强显示的过程在步骤93执行。步骤95处观众提供指点式输入在屏幕上激活和操纵光标。步骤97处处理输入，步骤99处观众将光标移动到突出显示的实体图象区域。步骤101处观众激活选择设备，步骤103处理该输入，步骤105处选定突出显示的实体。该选定初始化由接收和显示系统中的计算机部件进行的WEB访问。
在步骤107处，初始化网络接口模块(NIM)并完成拨号工作，从而为接收设备提供因特网访问功能。NIM可以是模拟或数字调制解调器，线缆调制解调器，卫星调制解调器，某种计算机网卡，例如10bt,100bt，令牌环或其他某种访问因特网的方式。
步骤109处提供因特网上的与突出显示的实体连接的动态统一资源定位器，并下载相关的WEB页面。在步骤111显示WEB页面，可以显示在显示器上或作为窗口显示在显示器上。步骤113表示观众会对页面采取的进一步行动，如选定相关信息，跳转至WWW上的连接地址，一般以技术熟练的人员某种或所有众所周知的方式与WEB页面交互。步骤115处观众通过选择熟悉的关闭框或使用某种其他输入技巧使WEB显示失活。
以上的描述主要与用于电视显示的预录制的节目相关，例如广告、用于延迟和重放的节目等。在这些材料中，可以通过一帧帧地添加帧之间需要的少量字节的信息，从而将相邻帧中的一幅或多幅帧与统一资源定位器连接起来，进行编辑工作。完成这些编辑工作的方法对于那些对于熟练掌握电视和数据传输技术的人员是显而易见的。可以在VCR和CD-ROM媒体中使用类似的技术。已知的录制和传播方法及进行动态图象显示的动态图象都可用。例如，MPEG数据格式包括内含此类数据的方法。
图3B描述的是根据本发明实施例准备与动态统一资源定位器进行电视传输的通用步骤的流程图。在步骤73处，如上例中的BMW标识的实体在要播放的场景中被识别出来，与动态统一资源定位器相连。
在步骤75处，辨别出的实体与统一资源定位器相连。在大多数情况下，该统一资源定位器表示一个被维护用于提供附加信息的WEB页面，该信息与辨别出的实体有关或以更通用的方式与电视播放连接起来。
在步骤77处，鉴别出相对于帧几何性质的播放帧的位置，以及多数情况下的辨识实体的区域范围。
步骤79处定义辨别出实体的位置和地区范围的数据，以及与该实体相连的统一资源定位器，然后记录在与图象数据分离的数据区域中，用于播放数据流中的显示帧。分离数据区与帧相连。
在步骤81处对所有的帧重复第1-4步，其中实体与动态统一资源定位器相连。大多数情况下，在相当多的帧中会重复一个实体，以便观众有时间反应和选择动态实体。在一个简单节目或播放中，多个实体可能因此与单个或多个统一资源定位器相连。
任何实体都是可用的，还有许多可能性。例如，可以选择人、物体或手工艺品、增加的图表或图象。在许多情况下，要辨别和与统一资源定位器相连的实体实际上是同一区域中用于表示统一资源定位器的附加数据加入到场景中的。同样在许多实施例中，将单个(或单点)位置鉴别为实体，将与实体连接的环形或方形区域之类的通用区域辨别为观众可以选择初始化动态统一资源定位器的区域。
本发明并不局限于预录制和编辑过的图象数据。在体育事件等的现场直播中，可以用特定的技术提供本发明的特长。在现场直播时，内含与图象连接的统一资源定位器的帧间数据必须相当实时地或以最小延时插入。这意味着带有摄象机和相关图象及数据处理设备的传输设备必须有一种方法知道图象上的哪一个物体或人是与统一资源定位器相连的，然后设备产生需要一帧帧插入的数据。
为了实现动态统一资源定位器的实时现场播放，与统一资源定位器相连的物体只需装备有能够告知分离的图象设备其连接和位置事实的设备。在一个实施例中，这种设备具体为播放器，例如红外传输器或无线信标播放器。以上所述的播放设备在向成象设备传输图象时完成两个重要的任务。第一是位置方面的，所以成象设备可以在用于此类信息的帧间区域内插入位置和地区范围数据。第二个是统一资源定位器本身。在多个实施例中，可以自动插入统一资源定位器，因为统一资源定位器对于事件是常见的，对于物体或人则并非如此。在其他实施例中，针对被跟踪物体或人特别加入统一资源定位器。在实时现场转播时，上述技术，即识别点位置和插入标准地区范围，是一种方便的方法。
由此类电视摄像机成象的人或物体，有多种方便的方法可以提供包含动态统一资源定位器的必要信息。红外和无线信标只是其中的两种。在许多实施例中，可以在运动员衣服上使用成象设备可以读取的条形码。在其他实施例中，可以使用另外的转播技巧，如X光或UHF传输。任何远距离传输信息的方法都可使用。
精通本行业的人无需脱离本发明的精神实质和范围，即可实现本发明的多种变化。例如，图1所示设备的多种表现形式都适合实现本发明。但并非图1中所有的部件对本发明都必不可少，在许多实施例中只需要某些选定的部件。例如，所示的CD-ROM驱动器和硬盘驱动器在多数实施例中并不需要，只是在某些实施例中可能用到。
另外，尽管已经使用某种方法进行远程电视转播主要作为所述实施例中的例子，无论是现场直播还是预先录制好的，本发明还包括其他提供显示电视信号和对动态统一资源定位器集成反应的方法。例如，通过储存在一个硬盘驱动器上或者图1中所示的CD-ROM驱动器播放的CD-ROM盘上的的信号，可以VCR中使用的录像带上提供带有统一资源定位器的电视节目。本发明的范围足以包括涵盖任何提供电视显示的方法，该信号与动态统一资源定位器集成，从而允许用户通过与电视显示帧中突出显示的实体进行交互，进而浏览因特网WWW。
进一步来说，有多种方式提供此设备需要的控制例程的功能，如分离出帧间数据以及完成对动态统一资源定位器的浏览。计算机技术中熟知的是，可以用多种方式写出控制例程来实现特定功能。代码提供给设备的并非独特的特定序列代码，而是功能。
此处所述本发明的多个实施例有大量潜在的应用。每种应用都应被认为是本发明的一个新实施例，而非新发明。
另外，与电视节目同时显示的WEB页面显示的多种格式可以证明本发明的广度。

Claims (36)

1．在显示器上进行显示的变化信号，包括：
包含显示用单帧图象信息的第一区域；及
与第一区域分离的第二区域，包括将显示中的实体与因特网统一资源定位器连接起来的信息，该实体显示由第一区域中的信息提供。
2．根据权利要求1所述的变化信号，其中所述第二区域还包括将可视实体与单帧显示中特定位置连接起来的信息。
3．根据权利要求1所述的变化信号，其中还包括第一区域中的模拟电视信号。
4．根据权利要求1所述的变化信号，其中还包括第一区域中的数字电视信号。
5．根据权利要求1所述的变化信号，其中还包括第二区域中用于在显示器上可视地突出显示可视实体的信息。
6．根据权利要求5所述的变化信号，其中对可视实体的突出显示通过改变对比度和亮度之一或同时改变两者实现。
7．根据权利要求5所述的变化信号，其中对可视实体的突出显示还包括改变可视实体位置的色彩信号。
8．用于电视传输和电视节目显示的系统包括：
提供一个区域中带有图象帧数据的数据流的来源和分离区域中的动态因特网统一资源定位器，该统一资源定位器与图象帧数据提供的显示中的图象实体相连；以及
用于在显示器、带有因特网浏览器的接收器及显示设备上接收和显示图象帧数据的接收和显示设备；
其中接收器将统一资源定位器从与包含图象数据帧的区域不同的区域中分离出来，激活因特网浏览器，访问与统一资源定位器连接的WWW主页，并在显示器上显示主页。
9．根据权利要求8所述的系统，其中所述统一资源定位器与图象数据帧显示的帧中的图象实体连接。
10．根据权利要求8所述的系统，其中所述显示的多个实体与统一资源定位器连接。

19．根据权利要求18所述的设备，其中所述统一资源定位器与显示的特定实体图象相连。

33．访问与视频显示的图象实体连接的附加信息的方法包括：
