背景技术
高性能聚合物型包装材料和结构的开发使得轻质、柔性膜和硬质容器,瓶子和塔板有了发展,它们保护内容物阻止所进入或外出有机物蒸气,香气,水分,氧和其它气体。目标是使垫底技术产物(underlying technologies)变透明,同时最大程度地减少这些产物对于最终消费者的财力和环境费用。对于在宽范围的贮存条件和食品下提供长久的贮藏期限稳定性的聚合物材料和包装系统仍然有相当大的需求。本发明涉及用于食品包装材料的阻隔结构,它们可用于提供延长的产品储存期限。

本发明通过使用挤出加工方法将母体、未改性的环糊精接枝到聚烯烃上来缩减材料、制造和法规方面成本和减少对环境的影响,而形成相容性的环糊精(CD)/官能化聚烯烃组合物,另外采用合成路线来合成相容的环糊精衍生物。
本发明也提供商品聚烯烃材料,它具有更大结晶度和更低表面能以便有效地改变与聚合物直接接触的化合物尤其非极性化合物(例如,链烷烃,芳族,萜烯和倍半萜烯)的分配。

本发明涉及含有侧挂于聚合物上的环糊精结构部分的新型官能化聚烯烃组合物和结构。更具体地说,本发明涉及包括官能化聚烯烃和环糊精的反应产物的一种聚烯烃,其中环糊精接枝到官能化聚烯烃上。传统的混合器能够用于该转化。对于接枝的(grafted),环糊精的官能团如羟基官能团与聚合物上的反应活性官能团反应而在环糊精和聚合物之间形成化学键。在优选的模式中,官能化聚烯烃的酸酐或环氧化物组分能够用于形成反应产物。例如,在环糊精上的伯羟基与马来酸酐结构部分在将基本上所有酸酐基团转化成半酯的条件下进行反应。完全出乎意料地发现,利用这一转化有可能使用母体环糊精来显著地改变在普通的聚烯烃聚合物中有机化合物的低分子量运输。本发明也是通过在常规配混装置中与官能化聚烯烃进行熔融接枝形成相容性环糊精/聚烯烃组合物来生产官能化聚烯烃和环糊精的反应产物的方法。
本发明尤其提供热塑性聚合物组合物,包括聚烯烃树脂和化学接枝聚烯烃树脂的共混物,该化学接枝聚烯烃树脂包括经过马来酸残基键接到聚合物的骨架碳上或经过马来酸残基键接到侧挂基团中的碳上的环糊精化合物基团;其中该环糊精化合物在环糊精环的中心孔中基本上不含化合物。
其中组合物包括大约100重量份的聚烯烃树脂和大约0.01到10重量份的化学接枝聚烯烃;其中该聚烯烃具有大约0.5到100g-10min-1,优选大约1到75g-10min-1的熔体指数和化学接枝聚烯烃是从具有0.7到200g-10min-1,优选大约1到100g-10min-1的熔体指数的聚烯烃衍生的。该聚烯烃树脂共混物中优选包括大约0.1-8wt%的环糊精化学接枝聚烯烃。
所述化学接枝聚烯烃可包括键接到马来酸酐化学接枝聚烯烃上的环糊精化合物基团,其中聚烯烃优选包括大约0.02到5wt%马来酸酐。
该环糊精化合物还可具有在环糊精的葡萄糖结构部分的-2,-3或-6位置上基本上在至少一个-OH基团上的取代基。

本发明还涉及包括被聚烯烃网幅包围的封闭容积的容器,该网幅包括聚烯烃树脂和化学接枝聚烯烃树脂的共混物,该化学接枝聚烯烃树脂包括经过马来酸残基键接到聚合物的骨架碳上或经过马来酸残基键接到侧挂基团中的碳上的环糊精化合物基团;该共混物包括约100重量份的聚烯烃树脂和大约0.01-10重量份的改性聚烯烃;其中该环糊精化合物在环糊精环的中心孔中基本上不含化合物。
本发明还包括提供一种热塑性聚合物碎片料,它包括具有低于大约10毫米的主要尺寸和15-50毫克的重量的成形聚烯烃树脂碎片料,该碎片料包括聚烯烃树脂和化学接枝聚烯烃树脂的共混物,该化学接枝聚烯烃树脂包括经过马来酸残基键接于聚合物的骨架碳上或经过马来酸残基键接于侧挂基团中的碳上的环糊精化合物基团;其中该环糊精化合物在环糊精环的中心孔中基本上不含化合物。
根据本发明,环糊精接枝的聚合物组合物可用于挤出或模塑结构如薄膜,层压材料,半刚性膜和硬质容器和纤维中。例如,这些结构能够为用于柔性食品包装材料中的密封剂层,用于硬纸盒和瓶子中的饮料接触层,用于装调味料、汤、布丁、婴儿食品和酒的瓶子和罐中的塑料密封盒和密封元件层,用于塑料油箱中的非接触层,以及用于制造供一次性尿布用的纤维、纺织品无纺织物组成的聚合物提供功能性质(functional properties)。
具体实施方式
简短地,本发明包括以共价键方式键接于CD上的聚烯烃。该CD能够与官能化聚烯烃反应。具有各种反应性官能团的聚烯烃可用于以共价键方式键接CD。一个变型是:聚烯烃的改性或官能化(其中过氧化物引发剂与各种不饱和极性单体一起使用),以便在该聚合物上以化学方式增加反应性结构部分,有重要的出乎意外的应用,当与在本发明中已知为环糊精的一组化合物相结合使用时。
环糊精(CD)是通过某些酶如环糊精二醇转移酶(CGTase)的作用所形成的α-D-葡萄糖的环状低聚物。三种环糊精(α,β,和γ)可以从市场上买到,分别由六个,七个和八个α-1,4-连接的葡萄糖单体组成。对于这些低聚糖的最稳定的三维分子构型是存在伯和仲羟基的有环形线(toroid)的较小和较大开孔的环形线。葡萄糖单体的特定的偶合将使CD成为具有特定容积的空心内部的一种刚性、截切的圆锥形分子结构。
商品聚烯烃的官能化可通过使用在现有技术中已知的溶液,熔体和固态途径来实现。该工艺以共价键方式将这些单体键接在乙烯基聚合物上或在聚烯烃聚合物(包括烯烃与其它单体的共聚物)上,如乙烯基单体,它主要构成了该烯烃部分。可用于本发明中的聚烯烃包括聚(乙烯)或PE,聚(丙烯)或PP,聚(乙烯-co-丙烯)或PEP,乙烯/丙烯酸甲酯共聚物,和乙烯/丙烯酸乙酯共聚物。该聚烯烃能够用不饱和化合物如不饱和酸酐和羧酸类进行官能改性。另外,还有乙烯-丙烯酸酯(乙基或丁基酯)-马来酸酐和乙烯-丙烯酸甲酯-甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯的三元共聚物。能够使用任何包装级的乙烯基聚合物。
官能化聚烯烃具有广泛的工业应用,如在食品工业用的多层薄膜和瓶子中的共挤出连系(tie)树脂,工程聚合物的相容剂和汽车工业用的塑料油箱连系树脂,供电缆和用于屋面构造中的填充材料所用的无卤素聚合物的柔性化和相容化。可用于本发明的官能化聚烯烃是马来酸改性聚乙烯和聚丙烯(从ATOFINA获得的OrevacTM和LotrylTM,从EQUISTAR获得的Plexar树脂,从Dupont获得的Fusabond树脂,从MANAS获得的OPTM树脂,和从Exxon/Mobil获得的EXXELORTM),官能化EP,EVA和EPDM(如乙烯-丙烯-丁二烯或,乙烯-丙烯-1,4-己二烯聚合物)乙烯-辛烯共聚物,乙烯-丙烯酸正丁酯-马来酸酐,乙烯-丙烯酸乙酯-马来酸酐三元共聚物以及乙烯-甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯的共聚物等等。该乙烯-丙烯-1,4-己二烯聚合物能够表示为:

本发明的具有侧挂CD结构部分的烯烃(聚合物)组合物能够使用常规加工技术被挤塑、层压或模塑加工成各种有用的膜,片,密封衬里和盖,结构或成形体。
本发明的组合物可通过使用反应性挤出方法将干燥环糊精或它的衍生物(<0.10%水分)、官能化聚烯烃和任选第二种聚烯烃在某温度下加入到挤出机中,该温度使得在熔融聚合物和环糊精被输送穿过该挤出机时该环糊精与官能化聚烯烃反应而形成含有例如酯基的反应产物(以共价键方式将环糊精键接于聚烯烃上)来制备。官能化聚烯烃与非官能化聚烯烃的比率能够为具体的应用和转化方法来调节。本发明涉及环糊精和接枝连接剂(即酸酐,环氧化物等)的化学计量反应产物,导致尤其适合作为母料的改性聚合物,该母料随后能够用一种或多种非官能化热塑性聚合物和热塑性弹性体按照一(1)份的母料组合物与十(10)至二十(20)份的非官能化聚合物的重量比来稀释。换句话说,聚合物和母料的共混物,或官能化聚合物,在共混之后能够含有大约0.01到10wt%的CD官能化聚合物,在某些应用中聚合物能够含有大约0.02到8wt%的官能化材料,大约0.02到5wt%的官能化材料的或大约0.02到2wt%的官能化材料。马来酸,富马酸或马来酸酐官能化材料用于将CD键接到该聚烯烃上。熔融接枝的化学计量比是以克-摩尔(克-公式-重量来计算,其中一(1)克-摩尔的CD(α,β或γ)等同于一(1)克-摩尔该接枝的酸酐,缩水甘油基和羧酸结构部分。

本发明的组合物能够通过在塑料加工技术中已知用于将颗粒物共混到聚合物中的普通共混或配混工艺中的任何一种来加工。本发明的CD接枝工艺是在能够将该工艺的组分熔化和均匀地混合以产生共价键键接的CD的任何普通的批次式混合器,双螺杆或单螺杆挤出机中进行。该接枝反应可方便地在本发明的挤出机或混合器中进行。优选的双螺杆配混机是以用于在线添加剂配混和任选的脱挥发分的多个机筒段来构型设计。进料器,优选重力给料机,用于将官能化聚烯烃供应到该挤出机的第一个机筒段中。第二个添加剂给料机,重力或体积型,用于在分散用途的机筒段的上游进给干燥环糊精。必须注意在配混过程中防止大气湿气被CD吸收。双螺杆的配混机装有两个捏合段。该捏合区段是沿着螺杆来间隔分布,要求第一个捏合段熔化树脂和混合它,和第二捏合段允许有树脂的最小剪切的分散性混合。在第一机筒段中的输送区段具有递增元件螺距(increasing element pitch),随后有分散用途的螺杆元件。在分散区段之后,短的区段用于输送该熔体但没有提高温度,和再次后面有在组合物离开配混机之前的分配性混合元件。另外地,该环糊精能够与来自重力给料机的官能化树脂粒料一起被计量加入到第一机筒段中。在这种情况下,这些机筒段可以缩减和这些分散用途的混合机筒元件向前移动。该树脂可以在任一构型中通过在该树脂被泵出通过该线条模头之前的下游机筒段中抽真空来脱除挥发分。该熔融聚合物线条运行到水浴和两个空气吹洗段,之后进入线条切粒机。配混步骤的目标是最大程度地减少水分引入,同时确保环糊精的一致进料,同时在官能化树脂中有良好的分散。
在本发明中,在制备官能化聚烯烃/CD母料时,使用具有减少的或低的水分含量的环糊精材料是重要的。当生产母料组合物时,它能够在水浴中吸收一些水和因此需要在用于转化工艺中之前在热空气流化床,空气烘箱或真空干燥炉中加以干燥。下游工艺,以及应用,决定母料的残留水含量。在该母料被配混之后,CD水分含量能够加以变化以完成本发明的各种方面。
令人吃惊地,由归属于新的粘结材料(virgin matrix material)的官能化聚烯烃/CD母料组成的材料的阻隔性能没有优化,如果使用干燥环糊精材料。环糊精水分的不存在导致在全部热塑性树脂中所固有的残留杂质的更大络合。一些水分在环糊精中的存在能够减少在配混和转化加工步骤中的络合。在母料中0.5%和2%之间的环糊精水分含量一般最大程度地减少或基本上防止残留树脂杂质络合。此外,环糊精水分的这些含量没有不利地影响聚合物形态或引起其它不利的阻隔影响,如基质针孔,微观的空隙,等等。在环糊精中一些水分的存在没有阻止或减少随着扩散渗透剂(permeants)所引起的包合络合物形成。
以化学方式将CD分子接枝在官能化聚烯烃聚合物上可以经济地生产以CD孔隙大小(α,β,γ)为基础的具有可预先确定的性能的阻隔体或选择性阻隔结构,不论该CD是未改性的还是改性的,和在成品聚合物中接枝CD的浓度。这些独特的性能包括减少在聚合物中所固有的低分子量杂质的运输,改进聚合物的内在有机物蒸气阻隔性能,改变聚合物的表面能和因此改变在界面上的极性和非极性有机物分配,和提高聚合物结晶度(重要的聚合物特性,特别在烯烃聚合物中)。这些性能改进显著地为商购日用树脂附加价值。这些改进带来了用现有技术(US专利5,492,947,5,603,974,5,837,339和5,928,745)中已知的、也实现减少的迁移和获得阻隔性能的相容性环糊精衍生物(使CD材料与热塑性聚合物相容的侧挂结构部分或取代基)无法达到的附加利益。本发明的新型CD接枝聚合物具有附加利益,这些包括在聚合物的表面能,提高的聚合物结晶度,显著更低的实施费用,更少的法规性安全考虑以及,在一些情况下,更“绿色”环境/社会可依赖的阻隔性聚合物中的重大变化。
对于本发明,相容性CD是指该CD材料含有能够与酸酐或环氧化物官能化聚烯烃反应的至少一个侧基。另外,该CD材料能够均匀地分散到熔化官能化聚烯烃中,能够存在聚合物中但没有聚烯烃的内在阻隔性能的下降,和能够保留着捕获或络合扩散渗透剂或聚合物迁移剂杂质的能力,并能够改变聚合物的表面能,有机分子分配和改进聚合物结晶度。
我们已经发现,聚烯烃不相容的CD,像未改性的α,β和γ-CD能够分散到官能化聚烯烃中,以共价键方式键接于官能化聚烯烃上形成相容性组合物,在配混过程中或在随后的转化步骤中没有未改性CD的微观粒子或分解。此外,通过挤出物的目测检查,我们已经发现,具有以共价键方式键接的未改性CD的官能化聚烯烃不会引起熔体破裂。最后,通过光学显微术检查的截切聚烯烃挤出物显示不含CD聚结物。
环糊精
环糊精是由通过α(1→4)连接方式所连接的至少六个吡喃葡萄糖单元组成的环状低聚糖。虽然具有至多十二个葡萄糖残基的环糊精是已知的,但是已经使用了具有6、7和8个残基的三种最常用的同系物(α-环糊精,β-环糊精和γ-环糊精)。
环糊精是通过高度选择性的酶催化合成法来生产的。它们由在donut形环中排列的六,七,或八个葡萄糖单体组成,它们分别表示为α,β,和γ环糊精(分别参见图1A,1B和1C)。葡萄糖单体的特定的偶合将使环糊精成为具有特定容积的空心内部的一种刚性、截切的圆锥形分子结构。这一内部空腔-它是亲脂性的,即对烃类物有吸引力,当与外部相比时-是环糊精的关键结构特征,提供络合分子(例如,芳族烃,醇,卤化物和卤化氢,羧酸类和它们的酯,等等.)的能力。络合的分子必须满足至少部分地嵌入环糊精内部空腔中而形成包合络合物的尺寸标准。

该CD的内部空腔尺寸(即,α,β,γ)必须加以考虑而且官能团改性必须适合于除了形成具有目标设定的挥发分或杂质的包合络合物之外,还改变所想望的本体聚合物和表面聚合物特性。为了实现特定的结果,一个以上的空腔和官能团是必需的。
根据本发明,该环糊精是基本上不含包合络合物的化合物。对于本发明,该术语“基本上不含包合络合物”是指在本体聚合物中该含量的分散CD材料含有具有CD的较大级分,在环糊精环的中心孔中不含聚合物污染物(参见图.1A)。中心孔用作渗透剂的结合位置。一旦使用,中心孔能够获得渗透剂或其它包含化合物,但在制造过程中能够发生一些络合。当残余聚合物杂质和降解物质变成在CD包合络合物中的包含化合物时,该络合能够发生。
CD分子具有可用于与官能化聚烯烃反应的在葡萄糖结构部分的六位置上的伯羟基,和在两个和三个位置中的仲羟基。因为CD分子的几何结构,和环取代基的化学性质,全部羟基在反应性上不相等。然而,对于小心和有效的反应条件,干燥CD分子能够经过反应而获得接枝CD。如果需要,具有所选择的取代基的,即仅仅在伯羟基上取代的或仅仅在一个或两个仲羟基上有选择地取代的CD也可以接枝。具有两个不同的取代基或三个不同的取代基的衍生化分子的直接合成也是可能的。这些取代基能够在无规的位置上或指向特定的羟基。此外,CD醇衍生物(例如,羟乙基和羟丙基)和氨基衍生物能够反应制备接枝CD。
生产与聚烯烃树脂有相容性的接枝CD聚烯烃材料的优选的制备方案包括在CD分子的伯或仲羟基上的反应。这指,CD的羟基官能团与官能化聚烯烃的酸酐或环氧化物组分反应而形成反应产物。在CD分子的环上伯或仲羟基上的酯或醚键的形成包括众所周知的反应。此外,不是全部的可利用羟基被衍生基团取代的CD能够接枝一个或多个的剩余的可利用的羟基。环糊精分子的伯OH基团能够比仲羟基更容易地反应。然而,该分子能够在几乎任何位置上被取代以形成有用的组成。大致地,我们已经发现,各种各样的侧挂取代基结构部分能够在该分子上使用。这些衍生化环糊精分子能够包括烷基化环糊精,烃基-氨基环糊精,以及其它。该取代基结构部分必须包括为衍生化物质提供相容性的区域(region)。
具有含侧挂的热塑性聚合物的结构部分的环糊精的氨基和其它叠氮基衍生物能够用于本发明的片,膜或容器。该磺酰基衍生化环糊精分子可用于通过磺酸基被叠氮(N3 -1)离子的亲核取代,从磺酰基取代的环糊精分子产生该氨基衍生物。该叠氮基衍生物随后通过还原被转化成取代的氨基化合物。该衍生物能够在对称取代的胺基中制造(有两个或更多个氨基或叠氮基对称地位于环糊精骨架上的那些衍生物或作为对称取代的胺或叠氮衍生化环糊精分子)。由于产生含氮基团的亲核取代反应,在6-碳原子上的伯羟基是适合于含氮基团的引入的最合适位置。能够用于本发明中的含氮基团的例子包括乙酰基(-NHAc),烷基氨基,其中包括甲基氨基,乙基氨基,丁基氨基,异丁基氨基,异丙基氨基,己基氨基,和其它烷基氨基取代基。该氨基或烷基氨基取代基能够进一步与其它化合物反应,与氮原子反应以进一步使胺基衍生化。其它可能的含氮取代基包括二烷基氨基如二甲基氨基,二乙基氨基,哌啶基和哌嗪基。
该环糊精分子能够被杂环核取代,后者包括侧挂的咪唑基,组氨酸,咪唑基,吡啶基(pyridino)和取代的吡啶基。
环糊精衍生物能够用含硫的官能团来改性以便将相容化取代基引入到环糊精之上。以巯基化学为基础的含硫基团能够用于使环糊精衍生化。此类含硫的基团包括羟乙基硫基(-S-CH2CH2OH),咪唑基甲基硫基,氨基烷基硫基和其它。
应用和用途
长期建立的食品包装概念在延长食品的贮藏期限上的能力上受限制。本发明的创新的食品包装概念与包装内的环境有影响并且通过改变它们的性能作出响应来维持、调节或改进特定的包装顶部空间气氛或最大程度减少由“拨顶(scalping)”(即,挥发性组分被聚合物包装材料从食品中吸收)对包装材料引起的食品香料损失,从而有利于产品质量和延长贮藏期限。今天用于控制包装顶部空间氧的那些技术中的最著名一种是氧清除剂。
多层或复合包装材料,包括山形盖顶纸盒在内,依赖于主要塑料层,后者为结构中的其它材料增加强度、阻隔性,和增加密封性。例如,山形盖顶牛奶和果汁硬纸盒特定地作为液体不能透过的容器公开于美国专利5,816,487,5,508,075,5,616,353,6,193,827和6,372,317中。尽管这些熟悉的山形盖顶硬纸盒已经广泛在全美国用于包装果汁,但它们仍然面临一些问题。最内部聚烯烃食品接触或密封剂层将低分子量挥发性有机芳香和风味化合物从食品中拨出到聚合物中,以吸附机理为基础,已经和继续是相当大的关注和考虑的主题。吸附可以导致与产品质量有关的芳香和风味挥发分的损失。用环糊精改性的酸酐官能化聚合物有效地解决了与差的有机物阻隔性能,表面疏水性,和在普通聚烯烃的共混物上食品香料拨顶有关的问题。这里所描述的本发明特别可用于从具有热封的食品接触内表面的层压结构构造的容器,该表面使得在产品的储存期限内在其中所含的果汁中有突出的风味保留性能。
在适当设计的食品包装中,聚合物应该吸收最低量的临界的调味料,同时满足全部其它性能要求。由于吸收到包装聚合物中所引起的风味损失一般被推测有害于产品质量。相反,果汁工业已经设计液体包装来利用吸收损失的优点通过抽提除去异味前体。本发明涉及包装食品接触聚合物层,由果汁实例来说明,从包装的食品中选择性地除去不希望有的异味,而同时最大程度地减少重要的调味料化合物的损失的用途。该食品包装接触层能够由用环糊精改性的酸酐官能化聚合物组成,从而有效地解决与差的有机芳香/风味阻隔,所不希望有的食品香料拨顶,以及由包装食品的脂质氧化、脂质水解和蛋白质/氨基酸分裂所产生的臭味/芳香从食品包装材料内部的除去有关的问题。这些活性包装聚合物改进与普通的聚烯烃相比是显著的并能够显著地改进在产品的储存期限内的食品味道。
包装用层压材料已经多年用于包装食品。普遍公知的和使用的容器是纸板型的结构,它涂有各种阻隔和密封剂材料。用于本发明的食品包装的接触层是热可封的,因比提供有用的阻隔结构将贮存材料转化成需要热封的硬纸盒和类似的食品保留包装材料。本发明的阻隔结构特别可用于包装橙汁和类似的相橘属产品。用环糊精改性的酸酐官能化聚合物导致普通聚烯烃聚合物的改进的界面相互作用,如改变分配系数,由于疏水性所引起的聚合物溶解度系数,更大的结晶度,和提供选择性清除功能。
随着塑料工业已经成熟,它已经开发了很多专业食品包装应用。很多的单层和多层结构可用于贮存液体或固体,食品或非食品。继续对高性能、增加价值的包装材料有需求,该材料能够维持或改进具体的内部包装环境以确保所改进的质量,安全和储存期限,同时也从逐渐地变薄的和透明的膜实现这一目的。目前的低氧阻隔性包装方法没有消除由贮存的食品或包装材料所产生的所有劣化化学反应,因此所不希望有的化学副产品如气味和串味继续以痕量产生,和这些有效地保留在包装件的顶部空间中,被产品再吸收而降低产物风味质量和减少储存期限。当这些化合物的比率(比例)或总浓度偏离太远时,它们都引起食品异味。
低和中等水分含量食品包括大部分的贮存稳定性食品,如谷物,脆点心,小甜点,含盐小吃,等等。它们含有脂肪,蛋白质,淀粉和经历许多劣化化学反应。最重要的化学变化与水解反应,酶促作用,氧化反应(尤其改变许多含脂质的食品的风味的脂质氧化),和非酶催性褐变有关。从这些反应产生的化合物将在它们的化学及物理特性上广泛地变化。它们在它们对风味的影响上不同。一些导致舒服的芳香而其它会产生臭的气味和风味,常常在食品的贮存中引起主要的问题。因此除去全部这些化合物将引起风味褪化或除去一些和不除去其它则引起风味不平衡-坏的味觉食品。
在早餐谷类食品中,例如,使用升高的温度和低湿度的加速储存期限研究将产生许多劣化化合物。环糊精能够最大程度地减少,除了醛类以外,挥发性化学品家族化合物(即芳族烃,链烷烃,烯烃和酮)的顶部空间积聚,这些化合物不能由传统的抗氧化剂,和氧和醛类清除剂所除去。环糊精能够捕获由在挤塑过程中密封剂聚合物的氧化所产生的并已知有害于风味质量的氢过氧化物和其它化合物。此外,接枝CD/聚烯烃能够有选择地将特定的所不需要的异味化合物从包围该贮存食品的顶部空间中分配到密封剂聚合物层中,但不显著地影响优选的令人想望的风味和因此防止风味褪化。该CD孔是已知在包装的食品中引起风味缺陷的许多不希望有的气味的有效捕获阱。
大部分的所收获的新鲜水果,植物和插瓶花因为在包装材料顶部空间中增多量的乙烯气体所引起的损坏而损失。阻止水果、植物和鲜花品质的成熟的一个途径是减少所产生的乙烯气体。LDPE膜的乙烯吸收能力能够通过具有由官能化LDPE和环糊精组成的薄的接触内层来改进。环糊精接枝聚合物能够在多层结构中用作食品接触层,通过减少在包围产品的顶部空间中的乙烯气体和维持合适的湿度(一般大于80%RH),以使得不发生所不希望有的枯萎和皱缩,来延长产品储存期限。如果该产物被密封在非渗透性的膜中,则顶部空间O2含量将降低至低水平,其中发生厌氧呼吸而形成所不希望有的气味和风味化合物如乙醇,乙醛和有机酸。将环糊精接枝在聚烯烃之上的优点是,高浓度的CD可用于该LDPE表层以改进来自顶部空间的乙烯气体和其它器官感觉到的前体的分配,但不降低对水分和气体的内在的烯烃阻隔性能。
饮料密封件和塑料螺帽密封壳一般含有一种或多种下列热塑性材料:低密度聚乙烯和线性低密度聚乙烯(LDPE和LLDPE),高密度聚乙烯(HDPE),聚丙烯(PP),乙烯-乙酸乙烯共聚物(EVA),聚氯乙烯(PVC)和聚偏氯乙烯(PVDC)。高阻隔性衬里材料通常是一种配混组合物,它含有热塑性塑料(典型地烯烃聚合物)和分散到该热塑性塑料中的弹性体材料(典型地丁基橡胶,丁苯橡胶或丙烯酸橡胶)以形成热塑性塑料弹性体材料组合物。这些热塑性塑料组合物制造成成形体,这使得它们可以用作直立的小袋,金属、玻璃或塑料的罐或瓶的密封元件。用于密封碳酸软饮料、充碳酸气的水等的螺帽塑料密封壳体含有二组分体系,后者包括PP螺帽壳体和通常从LDPE和EVA生产的单层衬里以提供正密封。非充碳酸气的饮料(例如静水)的密封壳体是作为用作螺帽和衬里的单构件从PP制造。密封壳体和衬里组成含有多种附加的性能添加剂-润滑剂,抗静电剂,增塑剂,热稳定剂,抗氧化剂和颜料。一种添加剂,尤其,称作erucamide的通用聚合物润滑剂,改进熔体流动性能和通过减少释放扭矩来减少衬里和壳体对瓶子的粘附。添加剂,在聚合物的表面上起作用,是传统上迁移性的和随时间推移而发生迁移。容器的聚合物壳体和衬里的表面能够变成对残余臭氧的臭氧解敏感的化学品前体的来源。
臭氧化作用通常在全世界范围内用于将瓶子贮存的饮用水消毒。残余臭氧,典型地ppb水平,在装瓶之后保留在水中。臭氧与不饱和化合物反应形成不稳定的有机臭氧化物,它快速地分解成氧化合物,如醛类,酮类,和过氧化物类,快速地与氧化剂或还原剂反应。不饱和化学品键接在芥酰胺和油酰胺中,它迁移到密封聚合物的表面循环和迁移到在表面上暴露的较少程度不饱和的烯烃单体和低聚物中,产生了常常描述为“塑料”味的器官感觉缺陷。该塑料异味能够与低的人阈值器官感觉性化合物,尤其C1-30醛类如己醛,庚醛,辛醛,壬醛和癸醛的十亿分之一(ppb)水平的存在有关。残留的器官感觉性挥发分,它们通过臭氧或通过衬里或密封盒的热氧化或光致氧化从化学品氧化产生,能够通过将官能化聚烯烃/CD组合物分散于衬里或密封盒组成中来有效地络合,以防止它们迁移到饮料中。本发明涉及用于容纳食物,饮料或药物的容器衬层和壳体组成,它含有接枝环糊精以减少异味和气味器官感觉到的迁移剂和进入渗透剂,因此改进所贮存产物的味道。
在本发明中使用的纤维可以是现有技术中已知的任何聚烯烃纤维。用于本发明中的线状纤维是包括官能化聚烯烃和接枝CD和聚烯烃的组合物,它用于由无纺方式构造由一种或多种重叠或互联纤维组成的无纺网幅。该纤维能够是通过纺丝熔体或熔体喷射工艺生产的长丝形式。现有技术中已知的任何无纺的聚烯烃纤维可用于本发明中。无纺的网幅可用于构造绷带,一次性尿布和失禁用品,它们具有改进的气味控制体系以减少或消除由体液如血,小便,经血等引起的恶臭。官能化聚烯烃和接枝CD均匀地被分配在整个纤维中以使恶臭化合物吸收到纤维中和然后扩散到纤维的芯部中,在其中它们被遍布纤维的CD络合或有效地捕获,以防止它们的嗅觉察觉。从官能化聚烯烃和接枝CD产生的无纺网幅都改变纤维湿润性和有效地吸收恶臭和减低嗅觉察觉。
目前,该五层共挤出燃料箱是北美的事实上的工业标准。共挤出的罐被设计满足严厉的蒸发性燃料标准并由通过连系层所结合的HDPE内层和聚酰亚胺(尼龙)或乙烯-乙烯醇(EVOH)共聚物的阻隔层组成。该连系层是通过HDPE与马来酸的共聚合或接合聚合所形成的粘合用树脂,并具有粘附于聚乙烯链聚合物上的官能团。附加的连系层被“回用料(regrind)”的层和HDPE的外层所结合。该“回用料(regrind)”层的使用为六层箱壁增加了附加层。本发明能够通过将接枝了CD的官能化HDPE添加到燃料箱的HDPE外层组合物中减少汽油气渗透,来基本上改进在商品的热塑性塑料燃料箱中的阻隔性能。
本发明涉及一种方法,由该方法生产出改进的酸酐官能化聚合物,最显著地,接枝了马来酸酐的聚烯烃。为了改性,酸酐官能化聚合物通过与CD在能够将全部(当需要时)或一部分的酸酐基团转化成相应半酯的条件下进行反应来改性。尽管已知将二羧酸的二酯和半酯或它们的酸酐,如马来酸或马来酸酐,接枝到各种聚合物底物之上,但是通过将CD接枝到官能化聚烯烃上所获得的聚烯烃聚合物组合物在结晶度上显示出显著增长和改进普通的聚烯烃聚合物的界面相互作用,如变化的分配系数,因疏水性所引起的表面能,改进聚合物阻隔性,和提供选择性清除功能。环糊精接枝的聚合物可用于各种结构和类型的食品包装材料中以延长产品储存期限,用于纤维中以减少恶臭和在各种应用中用作有机渗透剂的阻隔层。

实验部分
本发明的其它实施方案将显示,以化学方式将环糊精分子接枝到官能化聚烯烃聚合物上将产生具有独特性能的可预先设计的阻隔体,这些性能包括减少低分子量化合物的质量运输,改变聚合物的表面能,进行极性/非极性有机化合物分配和提高聚合物结晶度。
上文讨论说明了本发明的各种组合物和在用于山形盖顶硬纸盒和瓶子,塑料接密封盒和密封元件的饮料接触层中和在用于软质薄膜的密封剂层中的应用。下列实施例和数据进一步举例说明本发明。
相容性试验
定性样品制备。
五种聚烯烃样品与和不与未改性α-CD和β-CD配混并使用光学显微分析方法在视觉上检查CD相容性。含有化学计算重量载量α-CD和β-CD(2.78wt%和3.20wt%)的两个试片通过使用布拉本德塑性纪录仪混料罐(BrabenderPlasticorder Mixing Bowl)被配混成乙烯-马来酸酐共聚物/LDPE共混物(Plexar175,Equistar Chemicals L.P.)。布拉本德混料罐由在数字8形的罐中的两个计数旋转式轧辊刀组成。含有用于Plexar样品中的相同重量负荷的α-CD和β-CD的两个附加试件与LDPE(NA-204,Equistar Chemicals L.P.),即用于Plexar共混物中的相同LDPE,进行配混。和,最后,NA-204 LDPE树脂的第五个对照样品也在布拉本德塑性纪录仪混料罐上配混,但没有CD。全部树脂在配混之前在真空(<0.1”的Hg)下于85℃干燥2小时,同时α-CD和β-CD环糊精在循环空气烘箱中于105℃干燥30分钟。

摄影程序。
使用带有照相机(Polaroid Type 57胶卷)的立体显微镜,在10.6倍放大率下。光照是塑料表面的以相对于水平面的大约45°入射的卤素聚光灯。纸的黑色试件(Polaroid胶卷鞘内部)用作背衬,以控制杂散光。该相片通过使用缺省亮度和对比度设定(即没有调节)进行扫描,并另存为JPEG′s。因为该相片在对比度上是非常平直(flat)的,全部图像通过使用GIMP调节该相同量:“-115”为亮度和“+65”为对比度。在全部照片中的黑暗人工痕迹是在显微镜光学器件上的粉尘。
该显微镜检查用于视觉上检查在聚乙烯树脂和环糊精之间的相容性。结果显示,被配混到LDPE树脂中并模塑加工成薄的半透明的试件的α和β环糊精化合物两者都在聚合物基质中产生可由显微镜检查观察到的聚结物和颗粒(图3和4)。对于α和β环糊精根据化学计算重量被配混到酸酐官能化LDPE树脂中和模塑加工成薄的半透明的试件所获得的显微镜观察结果表明没有产生显微镜可观察到的聚结物和颗粒(图4和5)。该官能化聚烯烃/CD材料显示与LDPE树脂相同的透明度(图2)。
聚烯烃结晶度和表面能试验
聚烯烃结晶度。
结晶度影响聚合物的基本物理性能。结晶度由差示扫描量热法(DSC)测量,来定量与聚合物的熔化(熔融)有关的热量。含有化学计算重量荷载β-CD的样品在布拉本德塑性纪录仪混合罐中进行配混并由DSC在-20℃到160℃的温度范围内进行分析。全部的样品进行从室温到160℃的初始热处理以便为全部样品赋予相同的热历史。在热处理之后,样品然后经历控制冷却程序160℃到-20℃,接着经历控制加热程序-20℃到160℃。通过将峰以下的面积(J/g)积分,测定第二熔融热,ΔHm,和冷结晶,ΔHc。该百分比结晶度是从下列方程式确定:

两种LDPE树脂(NA 204和NA 214,Equistar Chemicals,L.P.)和三种马来酸酐官能化树脂(Plexar树脂PX 175,PX 5125,PX 1856和PX 1857,EquistarChemicals,L.P.)和四种与化学计算重量荷载的β-CD(分别3.2wt%,3.2wt%,4.6wt%和23wt%)配混的Plexar树脂利用DSC进行分析。全部样品经历相同加工条件(热历史)以消除加工影响。百分结晶度结果示于表1中。
结果清楚地显示,β-CD接枝马来酸酐官能化LDPE具有比没有CD的配混马来酸酐官能化LDPE大得多的结晶度。
由动力接触角测定表面能。
各种化合物的吸附和分配系数与分子结构高度相关。PE对于非极性的风味化合物,例如苎烯,香叶烯,蒎烯和巴伦西亚桔烯具有非常高的亲合性。因为饮料是含水的,遇到一种情形,其中非极性的风味化合物,更可混溶于PE中,优先地从该饮料吸收。我们猜测,通过将CD接枝到官能化聚烯烃来改变聚合物的表面能,表面极性提高,据此降低平衡分配系数和提高非极性的风味保留率。为了实现这一目的,该接触食品层应该有选择地从包装的食品中分配不希望有的异风味,同时最大程度地减少重要的调味料化合物的损失。
环糊精接枝的聚烯烃的表面通过使用Wilhelmy滑行技术的变化形式来测量。在这一试验方法中,具有已知的表面张力的液体用于测定未表征的材料的接触角。该技术测量被施加于所要表征的材料上的力量,外推到接触的力矩,该接触角是使用下列方程式从力(F),表面张力(γ),和接触的周边长(p)求得:

两种LDPE树脂(NA 204和NA 214,Equistar Chemicals,L.P.)和三种马来酸酐官能化树脂(Plexar树脂PX 175,PX 5125和PX 1856,Equistar Chemicals,L.P.)。与化学计算重量荷载α-CD和β-CD(2.78wt%和3.2wt%)配混的三种Plexar树脂被分析动力接触角。全部样品经历相同模塑加工条件,以消除对于表面条件,即污染物和织构的加工影响。试验样品试件4.45cm×1.59cm×0.10cm的大面积是“平均化的”。样品是在装有50gmf负载传感器的Instron设备中进行试验。被试验的样品被下降到+18Mohm水(极性液体)和试剂等级甲苯(非极性的)的烧杯中和然后取出。所使用的液体体积在试验过程中保持在24℃±的大约200mL。Instron十字头前进速度是2mm/min.和前进的程度是12mm。输入到EXCEL中的数据文件用于接触角的数据分析和计算。三个一组的结果是求平均值的结果,示于表1中。
结果显示,当在水中试验时,CD接枝聚烯烃的接触角的下降,与没有CD的相同官能化聚烯烃相比。接触角的下降显示CD接枝聚烯烃的表面能的变化使得该材料稍增加亲水性。另外,当样品在甲苯中试验时,CD接枝聚烯烃的表面张力,与没有CD的相同官能化聚烯烃相比,显示了下降,表明较少疏水性的表面。

实施例I
被包装接触材料的选择性的风味化合物吸附继续是一个问题,尤其在与LDPE接触式包装的饮料中。非极性化合物对于LDPE具有很高的亲合性。分配到PE中的各种芳香/风味化合物的分配系数与它们的分子结构高度相关并大大地受到聚合物类型,结晶度以及溶质的结构,和溶质的链长度和极性的影响。商品的单一强度“不来自浓缩液型(not-from-concentrate)”橙汁用于测量分配在CD接枝LDPE和没有CD接枝的LDPE中的风味化合物。
材料。
两种乙烯-马来酸酐共聚物/LDPE共混物(Plexar 5125和Plexar 175,Equistar Chemicals,L.P.)通过使用布拉本德塑性纪录仪混料罐(BrabenderPlasticorder Mixing Bowl)与化学计算重量荷载的未改性的β-CD(3.20wt%)进行配混。LDPE树脂的第三个对照样品也在布拉本德塑性纪录仪混料罐上配混,但没有CD。全部树脂在使用之前在真空(<0.1”的Hg)下于85℃干燥2小时,同时β-CD环糊精在循环空气烘箱中于105℃干燥30分钟。

该CD接枝LDPE和对照LDPE试件被放置于装有单一强度“不来自浓缩液型(not from concentrate)”商购橙汁和模塑加工的聚合物试件(4.45cm×1.59cm×0.10cm)的带有磨口玻璃塞的密封式300-ml玻璃瓶中。填充的和用塞子密封的瓶子被清除任何顶部空间并在室温下在黑暗中保持8天。CD接枝的试件,与从用于对比的参考聚合物制得的试件一起,和与试件接触的橙汁,然后在试验期间的结尾被分析橙汁风味化合物。
分析方法。
吸收到聚合物试件中的橙汁挥发分和挥发分类的提取通过使用75μmcarboxen-PDMS纤维(Supelco),由固相微抽提(microextraction)来进行。将橙汁的等分试样(25ml)放置于具有塑料螺帽和涂有Teflon的隔膜的40-mL玻璃小管中,升温至40℃和温和混合。样品在纤维的插入之前被平衡处置5分钟和然后在整个35min吸收时间中保持在40℃下。该纤维从顶部空间中取出并注入到装有火焰电离检测器的高分辨率的气相色谱仪中。使用装有30m×0.25mm id DB5毛细管柱(J & W Scientific)的HP 5890GC。操作条件是:柱在32℃下保持3分钟,然后以6℃/分钟的速度提高到200℃,氦载气线性速度是29cm/秒。以不分批(splitless)的模式进行分析。未知风味的峰面积经过积分来定量分析浓度,和未知的风味浓度是从覆盖样品的浓度范围的四点标准校正来计算的。试样浓器是以ppm(μg/g-重量/重量)报道。该风味浓度是从校正曲线斜率或响应因子(RF)计算。
化合物浓度ppm=(峰面积×RF)÷样品Wt.
对于试验风味化合物和橙汁-聚合物接触试件体系计算该分配系数(Ke)。Ke值使用下列方程式来测定:

其中[Cj]eq是在平衡状况下风味化合物在果汁中的浓度和[Cp]eq是在平衡状况下风味化合物在聚合物中的浓度,两者以(μg/g)计,由分析测定。分配系数(Ke)示于表2中。Ke越小,风味化合物对聚合物的亲合性越低,而越大的系数反映了更有利的分配入聚合物中。

两种乙烯-马来酸酐共聚物/LDPE共混物通过使用布拉本德塑性纪录仪混料罐(Brabender Plasticorder Mixing Bowl)与化学计算重量荷载的未改性的β-CD(3.20wt%)进行配混而形成母料。密封盒衬里组合物的第三种对照样品也在布拉本德塑性纪录仪混料罐上配混,但没有CD。全部树脂在使用之前在真空(<0.1”的Hg)下于85℃干燥2小时,同时β-CD环糊精在循环空气烘箱中于105℃干燥30分钟。下列母料组合物进行配混。

β环糊精配混在低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)和乙烯-马来酸酐共聚物/LDPE共混物(EMA/LDPE)母料中。

实验室试样制备。
粒状Polyliner 461和CD接枝聚烯烃母料是按重量混合的干燥共混物批料。干混的材料在真空烘箱中在<0.1-mmHg压力下在85℃下干燥两小时,从两材料中除去任何残余水。
布拉本德熔融罐用于配混该CD接枝母料和密封盒衬里组合物混合物。没有CD接枝掺合物的预干燥(pre-dried)树脂的双份41-克各批料能够运动而从该熔融罐中冲洗出来。熔融罐温度被设定在130℃。对于设定在80下的桨叶的rpm,41克的试验材料组合物被滴入该罐中。该材料经30秒时间被加入到罐中。在5分钟的加工之后,螺杆速度降低至0和熔化树脂被取出并收集在铝箔上。在启动下一轮之前,该罐和辊桨叶彻底地清洗。
配混的衬里试验材料然后碾磨成用于器官感觉到的树脂挥发分试验中的具有~20μm厚度的刮屑(shavings)。
分析方法。
在布拉本德制备的试样中的醛类使得在密闭(confinement)过程中在升高的温度下从树脂中释气到管形瓶的顶部空间中。在密闭期间从顶部空间取出的空气的等分试样通过使用火焰电离检测的静态顶部空间气相色谱法来分析。
将碾磨刮屑的0.25+/-0.002g样品放入到22-ml小玻璃瓶中。该管形瓶立即使用有Teflon面层的丁基橡胶隔膜和铝皱缩顶盖来封盖。通过在85℃下加热该管形瓶达24小时,挥发分从样品解吸到顶部空间中。该管形瓶被转移到附装于装有火焰电离检测器(FID)和计算机化数据收集装置的Hewlett Packard ModelHP-5880 II GC上的加热(85℃)顶部空间取样器(Hewlett Packard model 19395A)中。J&W Scientific毛细管柱(DB-5,30m×0.25mm ID.,1.0μm膜),氢载气流速设定在20∶1的分流比。HRGC用于测量在管形瓶的顶部空间中的乙醛浓度。醛类峰面积经过积分来定量分析浓度,和然后从覆盖样品的浓度范围的四点标准校正来计算该浓度。试样浓器是以ppm(μg/g-重量/重量)报道。醛类浓度是从对于各醛类被分析物所制备的校正曲线斜率或响应因子(RF)计算。

残留醛试验结果。
当在有限空间中加热时,密封盒试验组合物产生十亿分之一和低于十亿分之一含量的C4-C10醛类。含有CD接枝聚乙烯的组合物基本上降低醛类浓度。总C4-C10脂族醛对于0.50wt%和0.60wt%α-CD接枝组合物分别地降低38%和44%。β-CD接枝组合物的相关wt%载量分别将总醛类减少31%和22%。

样品制备。
产生臭氧的实验室系统包括将纯氧从原料气(5.5升/分钟)中通入到电晕放电臭氧发生器中以产生高纯度臭氧。连续臭氧监测器记录该臭氧发生器输出额。臭氧被吸收到水中,得到了在给定体积的水中较高含量的溶解臭氧气体(大约800ppb臭氧)。含水的臭氧适合于用于试验密封元件材料。
该试验包括含有在表5中提供的组合物的衬里材料试件,它们暴露于已用800ppb臭氧灭菌的水中并在装有475ml的臭氧处理过的DI水,带有含铝面层的衬里的金属螺帽的一些500mL玻璃瓶中贮存。4.45cm×1.59cm×0.10cm试件被称量加入到瓶子口中。瓶子被存储,在它们的侧边上臭氧处理过的水与试件在40℃下直接接触七天。
分析方法。

在啤酒,水和酒中引起臭味和异味的强烈陈腐性串味已经追查到被称作三氯茴香醚(TCA)的环境污染物。TCA的来源已经追查到装运的容器,木制的垫衬,牛皮纸袋和硬纸板箱。TCA是通过真菌的甲基化作用从用于木材防腐的氯苯酚形成。低至5-10ppt的TCA的浓度已经在水溶液被受到训练的评判小组所检测到(detected)和20-30ppt被未受训练的评判小组所检测到。
有机物蒸气传输。
能够解释跨越阻隔体的渗透,其中在时间(t0)时的薄膜最初被脱除渗透剂蒸气。在薄膜的上游面上渗透剂压力p2被提高,在表面层中达到浓度c2。扩散是渗透剂如何快速地在薄膜中运行跨越该浓度梯度和达到稳态所需要的时间的量度。下游压力,p1,尽管可以测量,在短的时间中相对于上游压力p2是可以忽略的。渗透该膜的蒸汽的量在一旦达到稳态之后随时间线性地提高。在长的时间中,上游压力p2将等于下游压力p1。说明性的过渡曲线(transition profile)提供于图8中。

有机物蒸气渗透的分析方法
该渗透方法包括使用静态浓度梯度来测量有机分子传输穿过聚合物包装结构的实验技术。用电子俘获检测(ECD)操作的高分辨率气相色谱法(HRGC)用于测量累积的下游渗透剂浓度。
装置。
盘片样品(0.10cm厚度×1.27cm直径和称得重量为128mg)在密闭体积蒸气渗透设备(参见图7)中进行试验。实验用的铝测量池具有被所要研究的盘片(有效盘片面积=5.3cm2)分隔的两个腔室(即,池)并在两端用涂有Teflon面层的丁基橡胶隔膜和铝皱缩顶盖来封盖。
将试验盘片放入上池中;该池通过使用O形环来组装以便牢固地密封该试验盘片和螺旋式拧动以便将上下池拖曳到一起。接着,上池用有Teflon面层的丁基橡胶隔膜和铝皱缩顶盖来封盖。制备两个渗透标准试样。该渗透剂标准含有2,4,6-三氯茴香醚。该渗透剂分散在去离子水/表面活性剂混合物中。渗透剂水/表面活性剂混合物被注入到下池中,提供在t0时的浓度p2,如表8中所示。在下池中TCA浓度p2是通过使用气体定律以十亿分之一-nL/L(体积/体积)-表达。然后,下池立即用有Teflon面层的丁基橡胶隔膜和铝皱缩顶盖来封盖。
通过将在甲醇中制备的浓度为50mg/mL的TCA贮备溶液稀释在1%曲力通(Triton)×100水溶液中来配制TCA的标准浓度。制备该稀释液,要求该稀释的贮备液的5μl添加为该试验20mL顶部空间管形瓶中提供质量(pg)。下列SPMEGC/ECD仪器条件用于该TCA分析。

三氯茴香醚
用ECD操作的HRGC用于测量在上游池中在时间t1/2的累积三氯茴香醚浓度的变化。说明性的密闭体积静态渗透曲线被提供于图8中。在6小时的末尾,通过固相微萃取(SPME)从上池中收集样品并通过HRGC/ECD进行分析。从校正标准物测定三氯茴香醚浓度并使用气体定律以pL/L或万亿分之几(parts pertrillion)(体积/体积)测量。制备试验池并以一式三份来分析。表8含有在t=0时在下池中TCA的浓度p2,以及在两个荷载下在对照样品和三乙酰基γ环糊精(TA-γ-CD)样品中,在时间t1/2或6-小时在上池中TCA的浓度p1。

含有CD接枝材料的密封盒组合物基本上减少TCA质量转移。TCA质量转移分别地在混有0.40wt%和0.50wt%γ-CD接枝LDPE的衬里组合物中减少18.6%和34.6%。在0.50wt%下的γ-CD接枝LDPE使TCA质量转移减少28.8%。TCA减少与CD异构体(α,β或γ)和浓度两者有关。
膜材料对于水蒸汽传输或阻隔性能的试验
实施例V
对于特定的包装应用或包装设计,重要的是减少水分转移,因为其含量的敏感性或由于环境理由而减少薄膜厚度。高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)膜通常与含袋的盒相结合用于食品包装应用中以包装谷物,脆点心和小吃食品。在柔性聚烯烃结构中的防潮层起着重要的作用以防止这些产品被水分进入,水分能够导致感觉变化如脆度的陈化和损失,这会缩短产品储存期限。改进的水蒸汽阻隔组合物能够包括热塑性网幅,后者包括聚烯烃聚合物和含有侧挂环糊精分子的分散的官能化聚烯烃。
母料。
乙烯-马来酸酐共聚物(熔体指数7.4g/10min和马来酸酐官能度为0.86wt%)与化学计算重量载量(5.0wt%)的未改性β-CD一起使用顺转式配混用挤出机(Warner Pfleiderer Corporation ZSK-30mm)来进行配混。它的构型设计是,乙烯-马来酸酐(EMA)共聚物和β-CD的上游进料段,接着是混合段,HDPE的进料段,有熔体密封的另一个混合段,接着是真空区段和最后输送区段和线材口模。EMA共聚物在95℃下,在<0.1英寸的Hg的压力下干燥6小时。环糊精在105℃下,在<0.1英寸的Hg的压力下干燥28小时。重量损失进料器用于供给全部原料。该环糊精保持在氮气层中以防止吸湿。该进料段是在环境温度(即)大约22℃下,第一渗混区段是150℃,和另一个区段是设定在125℃。在口模的熔体温度是204℃。该挤出机是在300rpm,和最大扭矩的61%下操作。生产额是22.7千克/每小时。该β-CD是以1.18千克/每小时进给,该EMA是以10.18千克/每小时进给,和HDPE是以11.37千克/每小时进给。该环糊精还含有3.1% Dynamar 5929和各自0.38%的Irganox 1010和Irgaphos 168的混合物。EMA共聚物和HDPE(Petrothene LM6007)是从Equistar获得;Irganox和Irgaphos抗氧化剂是从Ciba SpecialtyChemicals Corporation获得;Dynamar润滑剂是从3M Company获得,和β环糊精是从Wacker Biochem Corporation获得。
薄膜制备。
HDPE(LM 6007)和该母料配制料通过吹塑薄膜挤出方法转化成三种膜。在Killion实验室规模吹膜流水线上吹膜。该挤出机装有在122rpm下以3.6千克/小时的输出额操作的25mm直径(24∶1L/D比率)螺杆并在两种不同的速度下拖曳而产生1.4和2.2密耳的两种不同的薄膜厚度。该挤出机是用仅仅作为对照物的原始HDPE,和用母料配制料来进行溢流进料(flood feed)操作,该母料配制料通过机械翻滚方法预先与原始HDPE树脂共混而提供0.50wt%和0.35wt%的两种最终CD重量组成。
吹膜流水线环形膜口模具有31.75-mm直径和在211℃下操作。挤出的聚合物管鼓泡具有适合于两种膜厚度的14.6cm直径。两个-挤出机区段是分别在226℃和227℃下操作。
聚合物熔体温度是227℃。该挤出机到膜口模(film die)接头是在227℃下操作。
水蒸气传输。
渗透穿过聚合物的水蒸汽与其它蒸气差不多相同。含有侧挂环糊精分子的官能化聚烯烃的功效是由用于测定水蒸气传输速率的已出版ASTM方法(E 96和F 1249)测定,该速率被指定为在试验的相对湿度和温度条件下,水蒸汽在稳态下流过单位面积的时间速率。被接受的单位是克/每天/每平方米(g/(天.m2)或克/每天/每百平方英寸(g/(天.100in2)。进行该试验,直至达到稳态为止。双份水蒸汽传输速率(WVTR)试验结果被提供于表9和10中。ASTM方法F 1249用于获得在表9中的WVTR试验结果,和在表10中的WVTR试验结果是根据ASTM方法E96,程序B-水方法,在23℃下获得。下面的表包括了使用ASTM方法F 1249,对照高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)膜的水蒸汽传输速率(WVTR)和在HDPE膜中β-CD接枝聚乙烯的比较。

在前面的表中的结果显示了与没有接枝CD的相同HDPE(LM 6007)对照物相比,在HDPE(LM 6007)中CD接枝聚烯烃(0.35%和0.50%CD)的WVTR的显著减低。通过使用ASTM试验方法F 1249,在本发明的CD接枝膜中的改进的水蒸汽阻隔率是与对照HDPE相比的大约15%。
下面的数据显示了使用ASTM方法E 96,程序B-水方法,在23℃下,对照高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)膜的水蒸汽传输速率(WVTR)和在HDPE膜中β-CD接枝聚乙烯的比较。

Claims (14)
1.热塑性聚合物组合物,包括聚烯烃树脂和化学接枝聚烯烃树脂的共混物,该化学接枝聚烯烃树脂包括经过马来酸残基键接到聚合物的骨架碳上或经过马来酸残基键接到侧挂基团中的碳上的环糊精化合物基团;其中该环糊精化合物在环糊精环的中心孔中不含化合物。
2.权利要求1的热塑性聚合物组合物,其中组合物包括100重量份的聚烯烃树脂和0.01到10重量份的化学接枝聚烯烃;其中该聚烯烃具有0.5到100g-10min-1的熔体指数和化学接枝聚烯烃是从具有0.7到200g-10min-1的熔体指数的聚烯烃衍生的。
3.权利要求1的热塑性聚合物组合物,其中聚烯烃具有1到75g-10min-1的熔体指数和化学接枝聚烯烃是从具有1到100g-10min-1的熔体指数的聚烯烃衍生的。
4.权利要求1的热塑性聚合物组合物,其中化学接枝聚烯烃包括键接到马来酸酐化学接枝聚烯烃上的环糊精化合物基团,其中聚烯烃包括0.02到5wt%马来酸酐。
5.权利要求1的热塑性聚合物组合物,其中环糊精化合物具有在环糊精的葡萄糖结构部分的-2,-3或-6位置上在至少一个-OH基团上的取代基。
6.权利要求1的热塑性聚合物组合物,其中该聚烯烃树脂共混物包括0.1-8wt%的环糊精化学接枝聚烯烃。
7.包括具有低于10毫米的主要尺寸和20-50毫克的重量的成形聚烯烃树脂颗粒物的碎片料,该碎片料包括聚烯烃树脂和化学接枝聚烯烃树脂的共混物,该化学接枝聚烯烃树脂包括经过马来酸残基键接到聚合物的骨架碳上或经过马来酸残基键接到侧挂基团中的碳上的环糊精化合物基团;该碎片料包括100重量份的聚烯烃树脂和0.01-10重量份的化学接枝聚烯烃;其中该环糊精化合物在环糊精环的中心孔中不含化合物。
8.包括被聚烯烃网幅包围的封闭容积的容器,该网幅包括聚烯烃树脂和化学接枝聚烯烃树脂的共混物,该化学接枝聚烯烃树脂包括经过马来酸残基键接到聚合物的骨架碳上或经过马来酸残基键接到侧挂基团中的碳上的环糊精化合物基团;该共混物包括100重量份的聚烯烃树脂和0.01-10重量份的化学接枝聚烯烃;其中该环糊精化合物在环糊精环的中心孔中不含化合物。
9.权利要求8的容器,其中该聚烯烃包括具有0.5-100g-10min-1的熔体指数的聚烯烃。
10.包括聚烯烃树脂和化学接枝聚烯烃树脂的共混物的膜,该化学接枝聚烯烃树脂包括经过马来酸残基键接到聚合物的骨架碳上或经过马来酸残基键接到侧挂基团中的碳上的环糊精化合物基团;该膜包括100重量份的聚烯烃树脂和0.01-10重量份的化学接枝聚烯烃;其中该环糊精化合物在环糊精环的中心孔中不含化合物。
11.权利要求10的膜,其中该聚烯烃具有0.5-100g-10min-1的熔体指数。

14.权利要求13的热塑性聚合物组合物,其中化学接枝聚烯烃包括键接于马来酸酐化学接枝聚烯烃上的环糊精化合物基团,其中聚烯烃包括0.02-5wt%马来酸酐和其中该聚烯烃具有1到75g-10min-1的熔体指数和化学接枝聚烯烃是从具有1到100g-10min-1的熔体指数的聚烯烃衍生的。
