本发明的背景
索引Plus+系统的一项主要费用是存储演出信息的存储器,演出信息包括演出频道、日期、时间、长度和名称。这实际需要与实现电子节目导视(EPG)所需系统一样多的存储器。另外,可以计划记录的节目播出之前的天数受到存储器和数据带宽的限制。
本发明显著降低内存需求和实现费用。这主要期望不需要本地存储的EPG数据库来实现。
本发明的综述

此概念首先接受为在用户终端的输入端,通过(a)VCR Plus、(b)直接频道/日期/时间/长度(CDTL)输入、或(c)即时,即实时记录用户希望记录的演出的CDTL信息。在情况(a),Plus码被解码以产生CDTL信息。在情况(c),从实时时钟中读出给出记录命令的时刻,在记录命令时读出设置调谐器的频道。((在这种情况下通常没有长度信息。)在情况(a)和(b),CDTL存储在适当的存储器中(VCR中的RAM、录像带、或盒式磁带所附的芯片上等)。在情况(c),记录命令的频道和时间存储在存储器中。在情况(a)和(b),CDTL的时间分量与实时时钟的输出进行比较;当出现匹配,调谐器设置为由CDTL信息表示的频道,VCR被打开以记录用户已经选择的演出。在所有的情况下,录像带上记录的节目位置也与频道和时间信息一起存储在存储器中。在所有的情况下,日期可以替换为星期几,长度可以替换为结束时间或开始时间,长度可以替换为结束时间和长度。如果在同一天进行记录,正如其记录被程序设计的,甚至可以省略日期或星期几。另外,因为记录自动在录像带的结尾停止,则长度或结束时间对系统操作也不是关键的。
按常规的方式,例如,一天或每隔一天一次,指定时候周期的所有节目名称(和有关数据)与电视信号一起传送,例如,在VBI中。或者,数据可以在很长的时间周期内,例如24小时以分配方式发送。在后者的情况下,接收设备不得不在数据广播的时间内(例如,24小时)监视VBI数据。播出每个节目的频道和时间包含节目名称。节目名称和其它诸如节目主题的有关信息,如果期望的话,迭择性的只在已经记录或计划记录该节目的用户终端处取得。特别是,在用户终端的存储器中存储的频道和时间与和每个名称一起传送的时间和频道进行比较。当出现匹配时,所传送的名称存储在存储器中。它可以在用户终端或者和CDTL信息一起使用,或者代替存储在其中的频道和时间。结果,最终该名称与每个已记录节目的位置和录像带目录中的其它获取的信息一起存储在用户终端的存储器中。当用户希望播放已记录的节目时,该目录显示在电视监视器的屏幕上,用户用一个在on屏幕光标标记期望的节目。然后VCR将录像带传送到期望节目的开始并播放期望的节目。例如:
在时间T1,用户输入表示记录哪个节目的Plus码(或其它形式的CDTL信息);该设备产生和存储CDTL信息。
在时间T2,在记录期望节目之前或之后,出现下载对话,其中给定时间周期的所有节目名称、频道和时间与电视信号一起传送到用户;每个用户的VCR只用相应于存储在用户终端的CDTL信息的名称作标记(包括其它信息,诸如与节目有关的主题)。将这些名称存储在存储器中或用名称代替存储器中的相应CDTL信息。
T2之后,该名称将被用户用于显示目录和在用户终端选择已记录的节目。

总之,只迭择性的获取和存储已经记录的节目或将要记录的节目,而不是在指定时间周期播出的所有节目。另外,还只存储要记录节目的CDTL信息。结果是具有小存储要求的通用录像带管理能力。
当用户希望播放已记录的节目时,VCR18通过开关14b连接到监视器16。该用户将相应的盒带装入VCR18。微处理器20从存储器22中重现录像带上的节目名称并将此信息通过VCR18馈送到监视器16,用于显示为录像带的目录。当用户从屏幕上的目录选择一个名称时,微处理器20向VCR18传送录像带上选定节目的开始。
如果以前存储足够的CDTL信息,所传送的节目名称可以包含在用于所述用途从其中记录和提取节目之前传送的传统EPG数据流中。(这里并入参考1996年10月10日提交的申请号为No.08/728,614的全文,用于描述如何传送数据流。)否则,在记录节目之前和/或之后从所传送的自定义数据流中迭择性的获取名称。
在另一个实施例中,利用诸如寻呼接收机的无线接收机(未示出)接收名称信息。

Claims (4)

1.一种系统,包括:
一个输入端,接收识别电视节目广播的标识,该标识包括一个或多个频道、开始时间、结束时间、日期、星期几和长度;
视频系统录像机控制器,用于向一个或多个录像机和调谐器提供命令以根据一个输入标识记录电视节目,
索引存储器,用于存储录像带标识和录像带索引信息,该标识指示用于在视频系统录像机控制器的控制下记录的电视节目;
数据接收机,用于接收包括名称、几组电视广播标识符和多个名称以及多组电视广播标识符之间关系的数据,每组标识符包括一个或多个频道、开始时间、结束时间、日期、星期几和长度;和
其中来自数据接收机的名称存储在索引存储器中并与录像带标识和录像带索引信息有关,标识指示与名称相关。
