Abstract

技术领域

背景技术
无线局域网络(WLAN)与通用分组无线电系统/通用移动电信服务/第三代(GPRS/UMTS/3G)网络产生交互影响,以使其WLAN的目前发展而导致产生一个共同外壳中包含有两个无线电单元的产品(例如:支持802.11b+GPRS空中接口与802.11b+UMTS空中接口的卡片)。这些单元可以拆分为多个卡片,或是也可以整合在一个共同卡片中。
此后,无线发射/接收单元(WTRU)包含有但不限制于用户设备、移动工作站、固定或移动用户单元、呼叫器或任何能够在无线环境中操作的其它类型的装置。且当涉及此后,基站(BS)包含有但不限制于节点-B、位置控制器、接入点(AP)或任何能够在无线环境中操作的其它类型的接口装置。
目前,网络可能无法察觉到终端的双模式能力。除此之外,所赋予的服务可以基于在终端上的处理器功率、内存可利用性、屏幕大小、位速率等等方面的终端能力而动态改变。例如,双模式802+GPRS个人数字助理(PDA)或许能够通过GPRS或802网络接收短讯服务(SMS)或是多媒体讯息服务(MMS)。然而,这些服务的不同差异性则可能要依据无线终端所指定的内存位置而提供。多元的多媒体服务相较于在PDA上所用的而需要较大的内存大小。因此,相同的多媒体服务则可能是依靠终端能力而是通过黑色和白色或是色彩的简化集合来提供。同样的,网络辅助交递换手(handoff)的可能性也可由这些能指出具有双模式(WLAN/GPRS或是WLAN/3G)的终端来提供。因此需要指出在这些现行的GPRS/UMTS的能力的机制。
此外,在网络交互影响中,没有能够告知无线终端具有双模式无线电能力的能力,也没有依赖网络其中之一,且与其通信以察觉交互影响能力以便激活其无线终端去拥有与两网络其中任一进行通信的增强能力的能力。
实用新型内容
本实用新型的目的在于提供一种可将双模式无线发射/接收单元(WTRU)的能力报告给网络的无线通信系统。本实用新型的另一个目的在于提供一种可将网络的能力报告给双模式无线发射/接收单元(WTRU)的无线通信系统。较佳的,所述能力报告是在初始接触的程序期间发生。本实用新型的特征为包含用于激活无线终端去进行通信双模式能力的装置,且更可提供在附加程序期间中用于报告两网络的交互影响能力的装置,其中WTRU具有从交互影响能力其中之一得到服务的额外能力,而该服务是基于藉由网络将能力信息提供至该WTRU中。
根据本实用新型,提供一种无线通信系统,包含:多个无线电接入网络;短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心,其与每一个所述无线电接入网络耦合;以及至少一个双模式无线发射/接收单元,其与所述多个无线电接入网络中至少一个无线电接入网络无线地耦合,其中所述无线发射/接收单元是配置成用于将其能力报告给所述短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心。
通过本实用新型的能力报告,可达到系统资源的最佳化以及使网络辅助的交接成为可能。

具体实施方式
由本创作所解决的问题是为一种机制,其机制是为支持GPRS和WLAN两者或是3G和WLAN两者的终端能够报告其WLAN能力到其支持的GPRS/UMTS网络中。同时,本创作更可识别该机制,其是由3G网络指出通过WLAN传递的3G或分组切换域服务是可利用的。
图1显示网络的简化方块图,其中UMTS和WLAN是整合在一起的。而WTRUs 12、14和16通过个别的无线电链路(RL-1、RL-2和RL-3)与网络进行通信,更特别的是,WTRU 12是与GSM无线电接入网络(RAN)通信,WTRU 14是与2.5/3G RAN通信,以及WTRU 16是与WLAN接入点(AP)通信。当WTRU 16是膝上型轻便计算机(laptop)、个人数字助理(PDA)或是其它具有适当的卡片而可与WLAN AP进行通信的类似装置,WTRUs 12和14则可以是蜂窝式电话。
GSM RAN与移动切换中心(MSC)进行通信,其中如这技术领域已知的,GSM RAN具有与区域数据库交互影响的能力。MSC则与拜访位置缓存器(VLR)进行通信以将WTRU 12进行辨别、验证等等。MSC也与短讯服务通信闸移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心(SMS-GMSC/IW-MSC)进行通信以提供例如短讯服务(SMS)数据的服务。归属位置缓存器(HLR)是一种数据库,其在归属公用陆地移动网络内提供移动终端的呼叫和SMS数据的路由信息,同时也是作为散布到相关VLR(注意图1的VLR)或GSN(GPRS支持节点)用户用户信息的维护,且其是借着譬如局部区域和路由区域更新的附加处理和流动性管理程序来进行。
WLAN AP与分组数据通信闸/WLAN接入通信闸(PDG/WAG)进行通信。能力信息在GSN和PDG/WAG中进行交换,而譬如SMS数据服务的服务则是通信至PDG/WAG中,接着经由PDG/WAG和WLAN AP通信到WTRU 16中。基于WTRU 16的能力,SMS数据因此而被传送出。
在WTRUs 12和14各自通过其相关的RAN而与网络进行通信时,依照本创作他们提供有关其能力的信息,并包含有WLAN兼容性(compatibility)。

表4其显示在改良型态中的网络能力IE,其中在现有和新的IE的项目(1)中,亦即经由专用信道的系统管理能力是相同的。而项目(2)列出在现有和新的IE中,亦即经由GPRS信道的系统管理能力是相同的。在现有IE的项目(3)中,以及在项目(6)中的新的信息组件,通用多重-八字节编码字符集(UCS),USC2十六位编码支持,则是相同的。
而在现有IE的项目(4)与新的IE的项目(7)中,亦即补充服务(SS)筛选指示器,是相同的。在局部服务地区的支持(SoLSA)能力,现有IE的项目(5)与新的IE的项目(8)中,是相同的。

表5A1到表5A2与表5B显示在较多细目中的MS RA能力。在表5A1到表5A2中,四个二进制的接入技术类型代表用来接入的技术类型。高斯最小频移键控(GMSK)是提供有良好频谱效率的频移键控一种形式。8PSK是一种改良技术,其中载体存在于八个状态其中之一。表5B显示字段与二进制位以识别出一些能力,例如,一个三位字段是用在识别WLAN 802 RA技术,其中该技术是由二进制位的特定组合而识别出的。请注意WLAN802.11b技术的不支持是以“000”表示,而在WLAN 802.11b技术的支持时是以“001”等等诸如此类的方式表示。而在其它的例子中,当不支持时,CDMA2000RA技术能力是“0”,反之,在支持时则是“1”。
双模式WTRU通过其UMTS(或是GPRS)网络提供WLAN能力报告,并取决于该双模式WTRU是否具有WLAN/UMTS或是WLAN/GPRS能力。
如图2所示,当WTRU是为电源激活,其首先将藉由UMTS信道进行通信,并执行一非接入层(NAS)“附加”程序,随的其UMTS/WLAN能力即与该网络进行交换,如图2所示。
根据实施结果,如果可能,用户可选择去继续与UMTS网络进行通信、手动切换到通过WLAN信道或是在WLAN网络上进行自动交递换手。
本创作因此在WTRU和网络与网络和WTRU之间导入两个新的IE到现有的GPRS/UMTS能力讯息。无线电接入能力信息组件(RAC IE)被改良以告知网络有关WTRU卡片的双模式能力,亦即GPRS+WLAN或是UMTS/WLAN。无线电接入能力(RAC)携带WLAN能力的所有层面,而该WLAN能力包含有终端类型(例如PDA、简易膝上型计算机、电话等)、内存大小、屏幕大小、处理功率、技术版本(如802.11、802.15、802.16等诸如此类)、服务特性数据(譬如仅SMS文字或是文字和动画)、MMS、IMS、位置、组播广播媒体服务(MBMS)以及其类似者。WLAN能力更新程序无须改良现有“附加”程序,网络能力则被改良以告知双模式WTRU关于WLAN交互关是能力的存在与可通过WLAN网络所提供的服务的不同类型。

Claims (8)
1.一种无线通信系统,其特征在于,包含:
多个无线电接入网络;
短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心,其与每一个所述无线电接入网络耦合;以及
至少一个双模式无线发射/接收单元,其与所述多个无线电接入网络中至少一个无线电接入网络无线地耦合,其中所述无线发射/接收单元是配置成用于将其能力报告给所述短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心。
2.如权利要求1所述的无线通信系统,其特征在于,所述至少一个双模式无线发射/接收单元是与所述多个无线电接入网络中至少一个无线电接入网络无线地耦合,其中,所述无线发射/接收单元是配置成用于将其能力以ATTACH信息而报告给所述短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心。
3.如权利要求1所述的无线通信系统,其中所述多个无线电接入网络中的一个无线电接入网络是一种全球移动通信系统无线电接入网络,还包括:
移动切换中心,所述移动切换中心与所述全球移动通信系统无线电接入网络以及所述短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心耦合;以及
拜访位置缓存器,所述拜访位置缓存器与所述移动切换中心耦合;
其中,与所述全球移动通信系统无线电接入网络耦合的一个无线发射/接收单元通过所述移动切换中心而将能力报告给所述短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心。
4.如权利要求3所述的无线通信系统,其中所述全球移动通信系统无线电接入网络是配置成将全球移动通信系统无线电接入网络能力报告给所述至少一个双模式无线发射/接收单元。
5.如权利要求1所述的无线通信系统,其中所述多个无线电接入网络中的一个无线电接入网络是一种通用无线电服务无线电接入网络,还包括:
通用无线电服务支持节点,所述通用无线电服务支持节点与所述通用无线电服务无线电接入网络以及所述短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心耦合,其中,与所述通用无线电服务无线电接入网络耦合的一个无线发射/接收单元通过所述支持节点以报告能力。
6.如权利要求5所述的无线通信系统,其中所述通用无线电服务无线电接入网络是配置成将通用无线电服务无线电接入网络能力报告给所述至少一个双模式无线发射/接收单元。
7.如权利要求1所述的无线通信系统,其中所述多个无线电接入网络中的一个无线电接入网络是一种无线局域网络,还包括:
无线局域网络接入点;
分组数据网关/无线局域网络接入网关,其与所述无线局域网络接入点以及所述短消息服务网关移动切换中心/交互影响移动切换中心耦合;
其中,与所述无线局域网络接入点耦合的一个无线发射/接收单元通过所述分组数据网关/无线局域网络接入网关以报告能力。
8.如权利要求7所述的无线通信系统,其中所述无线局域网络是配置成将无线局域网络能力报告给所述至少一个双模式无线发射/接收单元。
