Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Profilsohle aus weichelastischem Kunststoff oder Gummi, die in ihrem von einem Kleberand umgebenen Mittelteil beiderseits eine Vielzahl mit kleinem Abstand gleichmäßig verteilter Ausnehmungen aufweist, die jeweils langgestreckte tunnelartige und mit ihren Längsachsen quer zur Sohle nebeneinanderliegende Hohlräume mit gewölbeartig gekrümmten Wänden bilden. Profilsohlen sind bereits in vielfacher Ausführung vorgeschlagen worden und setzen sich gegenüber glatten Sohlen immer mehr durch. Für ihre Formgebung waren bisher vor allem zwei Gesichtspunkte maßgebend, nämlich einerseits die Erzeugung einer besonders günstigen »Griffigkeit« der Sohle an der Lauffläche und andererseits in neuerer Zeit auch die Unterstützung einer möglichst angenehmen und fußgerechten Form der Sohlenoberseite. Die Griffigkeit der Sohlenunterseite versuchte man dabei in der Regel dadurch zu erreichen, daß man dem Profil an der Lauffläche die Form einer Vielzahl von Stollen gab, die sich — ähnlich Reifenprofilen — mehr oder weniger in den Boden hineindrücken und dadurch die ratschfeste Auflage der Sohle bewirken sollen. In einem bekannten Falle werden die Stollen durch eine Vielzahl in Querrichtung der Sohle verlaufender nutförmiger Ausnehmungen geschaffen, die in Längsrichtung der Sohle mit kurzem Abstand aufeinanderfolgen und zwischen sich die rippenförmigen Stollen bilden. Hierdurch wird eine bessere Selbstreinigung der Sohle von in die Ausnehmungen eingedrungenem Erdreich, Schnee od. dgl. geschaffen.
