Nach den neuen Vorschriften des Verbandes Deutscher Elektrotechniker sind die Steckstifte für Anschlufsdosen, Verbindungsstöpsel und dergl. in dem Sinne unverwechselbar zu machen, dafs sie den zugehörigen Verbrauchskörper nur an die zugewiesene, entsprechend gesicherte Anschlufsdose anzuschliefsen gestatten, und dafs dabei gleichzeitig die Stromrichtung im Verbrauchskörper unverändert bleibt. Mit derartig eingerichteten Steckstiften soll auch die vorübergehende Berührung falscher Dosencontacte ausgeschlossen sein, damit nicht etwa bei dem Versuche, eine nicht passende Anschlufsdose zu stöpseln, durch die Steckstifte eines Verbrauchskörpers gröfserer Stromstärke Sicherungen für geringere Stromstärken zwecklos zur Explosion gebracht werden. Bei den jetzt hauptsächlich in Frage kommenden Steckkupplungen mit nicht concentrischen, parallelen Steckstiften lassen sich die genannten Bedingungen ganz oder theilweise erfüllen durch Anordnung der Steckstifte in verschiedenem Abstande von einander, nach Befinden im Zusammenhange mit anderen Mafsnahmen. Dieser Stellung mufs auch die Stellung des Stiftes S₁ im Stöpsel g entsprechen, um den Stöpsel in die Anschlufsdose einführen zu können.
