Da insbesondere in der Magnetresonanztomographie kleine Mengen angewendet werden und die Zuleitungen zum Patienten aufgrund der Magnetbohrung lang sind, ist ein Nachspülen z. B. mit physiologischer Kochsalzlösung erforderlich. Die Durchflußinjektoren auf der Basis einer Schlauchrollenpumpe beinhalten die Gefahr, daß beim leeren Kontrastmittelgefäß versehentlich Luft in den Patientenkreislauf gelangen könnte, mit der Folge einer fatalen Embolie.
