Description

The invention is applied to the production of foamed dimensionally stable form body, in particular for packaging purposes, and relates to a method in which a fiber / starch mixture and water is used, the starch compo nente in bulk outside or in shape by thermal means or thermal and mechanical means is destructured, the mass in a minde at least a two-part mold introduced, in which a pressure is built up in a targeted manner the mass is thermally treated in the pressurized form and then ßend the pressure in the mold is reduced, so that a foam-like structure arises.

To preserve our environment and natural resources there is increased Aspirations made of fibrous material, especially natural fibers Renewable raw materials, but also recyclable waste paper, with additives to mix water with starch and dry or thermally ver drive a shaped package, such as a packaging tray, to manufacture. Recovered paper includes both those from households as well as those incurred in the manufacturing or processing process to understand dirty paper, cardboard or cardboard waste.

One of these methods is described in DE 44 02 284 A1. This is where the old becomes shredded paper and 30 to 50% (based on the mass of the waste paper) strength added. This dough is now difficult to flow and plastically deformable and becomes a shaped body in a mold at a temperature of 150-200 ° C baked with a stable structure and a smooth surface.

Packages made in this way are relatively stable and have compact structures. The disadvantage, however, is the relatively high specific weight and the limited damping properties of the packaging material. Many use cases must therefore be ruled out.

There have therefore also been attempts to use these pulp-starch mixtures foam. Treatment in an extruder has proven successful. From the DE 40 08 862 such a method has become known in which a Ge Mixing of starch and paper fibers in an extruder by mechanical and thermal energy input is compressed, plasticized and when it emerges from the Extruder is foamed with a drop in temperature and pressure, so that Shaped bodies are created without dimensional accuracy.

From WO 95/04104 there is a method for producing a biodegradation polymer foam become known. This is thermoplastic or destructured starch and at least one biodegradable hydrophobic Polymer used. This mixture is made with a fibrous or capsule type Gen material offset, with the proportion of this material a maximum of 35%. amounts to. Then the mass is controlled in an Ex truder processed. The capillary-bound water is discharged when it exits released in the extruder and causes the mass to foam.

Through this process, packaging material, heat insulation in particular nen, insulating materials, etc. produced.

Dabei wird ebenso wie in den oben be schriebenen Lösungen Material im Extruder verarbeitet und beim Austritt aus dem Extruder geformt.DE 43 17 694 proposes a molded part made of starch foam with it to produce embedded textile fibers. There will be number of uses proposed for such a material. As in the above be written solutions material processed in the extruder and when exiting the Extruder shaped.

The disadvantage of the solutions described above is that they are not regular and reproducible geometric dimensions can be realized and that the The variety of shapes is limited. The dimensional accuracy to which the increasing scope higher demands are made (for example, in order to adapt the packaging to the To adapt the product or to guarantee the stackability of the packaging ren) cannot be adequately guaranteed with these procedures.

To avoid this, DE 42 28 779 C2 proposed a strength kesuspension together with layers of layer material, such as. B. paper, cardboard, Textile, to be brought into a mold. The starch suspension is through a suitable te temperature and pressure control foamed, dried and cured. The resulting starch foam forms a firm bond with the inlaid th layer material.

This solution has the disadvantage that the cost of producing packaging gen, such as B. packaging trays, due to the need to bring in of layer material in the mold, is very high. The variety of shapes is due to the Use of this technology is limited.

The invention is therefore based on the object of a method for manufacturing foamed, biodegradable molded body made of a fiber / starch material material to develop, through which a dimensionally stable and dimensionally stable molded body without inserting a shaping, stability-promoting carrier material can be provided.

This object is achieved in that the proportion of starch in the recipe which is 8 to 26%, further hydrocolloids with a proportion of 5 to 15% are set and a foaming agent is added in a proportion of up to 3% can be, wherein a foaming agent is used that its effect unfolds at about 80 to 140 ° C.

The embodiment of the method according to the invention can be found in the subclaims can be seen.

The advantage of the invention is that with the disclosed method Have dimensionally stable and dimensionally stable fiber foam bodies produced. The structure this shaped body is gebil by a three-dimensional fiber-starch matrix det, which includes largely homogeneously dispersed gas bubbles. Go there the neighboring fibers form stable bonds with one another, so that even with ge low density of the moldings with an optimal one for numerous applications has mechanical strength. By the method according to the invention it is possible, for the first time, the proportion of fiber in this packaging in one size to bring it to the order of magnitude where the proportion of fibrous materials is up to 70% in the Troc can amount to the components.

The field of application of biodegradable molded articles based on fiber and starch is thereby expanded considerably.

It is now also possible to use the ge for these purposes only to a limited extent short fibers under a length of 0.5 mm or fiber mixtures were also suitable to use a high proportion of such short fibers.

In the following, the method according to the invention will be based on a few examples examples are explained in more detail.

Beispiel 1example 1

Milling dust, a waste product from paper processing, is used as the pulp. The recipe of the mass is as follows:

The proportion of water depends on the type of fiber and can in the zu ge of the mixing process can be set to the required value.

Xanthan gum is used here as the hydrocolloid. Using Xanthan in the amount according to the invention is the optimal flowability of the Mass adjusted in the form, which with the high fiber content only with starch ke not feasible, would be.

The example provides for the use of a chemical foaming agent. However, it is not essential to the success of the method according to the invention required, since physical loosening by water vapor also works. The addition of the foaming agent results in a foam with a lower density and more homogeneous gas bubble distribution and gas bubble size than through water Steam loosening achieved alone.

Azodicarbonamide is used as the foaming agent in the example. Essential is that the substance used develops its effect at around 95 to 120 ° C.

The potato starch suspension is made with the xanthan gum, the fiber and the Foaming agent mixed together, resulting in a mass with a gel-like consistency Leads, so that a soft, plastically easy to shape dough is created in which no free water leaks when exposed to stresses such as pressure or shear will.

The mass is now divided into a multi-part (in the exemplary embodiment it is a two-part) mold introduced, the temperature of which is about 180-190 ° C. That The volume of the mass introduced is approx. 80% of the volume of the hollow space mes the shape. This cavity is designed so that the wall thickness of the ge shaped packaging container is about 10 mm. The shape is ver with channels see that a throttled outflow of the resulting water vapor he possible. The cross-sections and the distribution of the channels are chosen so that that an even and targeted removal of the water vapor from the circumference of the shaped body is possible.

In the first baking phase, the upper part of the mold is closed without locking gel, and a time (depending on the mass and distribution of the processing good shape) in this position. During this time, the swelling takes place and degradation of the crystalline order of strength and the formation of bin formations within the crowd. After the swelling maximum of the strength far is reached, the form is locked. With this measure, the The duration of the gelatinization process of the starch is specifically extended to ensure stable pro to obtain products with a low level of glass fragility. The 2nd baking phase is used Foaming and solidification of the product and takes about 1 to 5 minutes (again depending on the mass of the product in the mold). Included it comes to the escape of the free and partially capillary water and its evaporation. The resulting water vapor and the from Gases released from foaming agents can only escape slowly, so that pressure builds up inside the mold. This pressure arises through appropriately dimensioned exhaust steam ducts, the escaping water Steam and throttle the gases so that the relaxation takes place with a delay. The steam and gases escape through the exhaust ducts for as long as until the mold is pressureless and the moisture transport from the product is farthest going to a standstill.

At the end of this phase, the mold is opened and the product is removed from the mold.

During the process described above, similar to Mas, form gas bubbles emerge from a cooking extruder in the structure, so that in the He The result is a product with fine to coarse pores, depending on how the process is carried out. the The surface of the product is smooth and dimensionally accurate.

Beispiel 2Example 2

Cellulose fibers, which are obtained from wood fibers, serve as fiber materials. The recipe is as follows:

The potato starch and the water are fed separately to an extruder. in the The process part of the extruder is suspended in the water and the starch ke by the mechanical-thermal stress at a temperature of destructured approx. 70-85 ° C. A starch cone forms in which the water is fully bound. In the following zones, the resulting Starch paste intimately ver with the fibers to form a homogeneous fiber mass mixes.

But it is also possible to have all components of the recipe at the same time and already mixed with each other to feed the extruder.

The fibers now form the disperse phase within the mass and swell only until they have reached a state of equilibrium. It arises a highly viscous plastic mass, the degree of gelatinization due to the ther mixing and mechanical process parameters in the extruder continues to increase.

After the strength in the mass has reached the optimum gelatinization, pas The mass is in a degassing zone, where moisture is released in a controlled manner and cooling takes place.

Die weitere Verfahrensführung ge schieht analog dem Beispiel 1.At the exit of the extruder a two-part heated mold is arranged, in wel che the so processed mass is introduced, so that it is about 80% of the hollow the space of the form. After filling, the mold is closed and so a pressure built up inside the mold. The further procedure ge works analogously to example 1.

In this process, the extruder is used exclusively for preparation the mass, i.e. the mixture of the ingredients of the recipe and the structure ration of the starch component. The molding and foaming of the products, such as it is known from the prior art, is not realized by the extruder sated.

Beispiel 3Example 3

A fiber mixture of natural fibers is used as the fiber material. In particular, the flax short fiber, a by-product or waste product from long fiber production or processing, has proven itself. The composition of the mass is as follows:

FlachkurzfaserFlat short fiber 19,0%19.0% Kartoffelstärke (nativ)Potato starch (native) 9,0%9.0% CarboxylmethylcelluloseCarboxymethyl cellulose 3,0%3.0% SchäumungsmittelFoaming agent 0,7%0.7% Wasserwater 68,3%68.3%

Die Bestandteile werden analog dem Beispiel 1 verarbeitet. The components are processed analogously to Example 1.

The mass is placed in a mold that is transparent to microwave radiation have to be. Molds made of thermally resistant glass are preferred. But it is also possible, ceramic materials or microwave-resistant plastics to use fe.

Die weitere Verfahrensführung erfolgt analog dem Beispiel 1.This shape is now out of a microwave radiation of about 2500 MHz puts. The further procedure is carried out analogously to Example 1.

Another embodiment of the invention consists in a form of ther mixed resistant glass to expose the mass to infrared radiation.
