Abstract
Description
Die Erfindung "Segelrigg für Parallelsegel" betrifft eine Vorrichtung zur Befestigung und Ausrichtung von Segeln auf Segelbooten jeder Größe.The invention "sail rig for parallel sails" relates to a device for attachment and alignment of sails on sailboats of all sizes.
All modern sails are scraped sails (e.g. Bermuda rigg) that extend in the longitudinal direction of the Ship, one behind the other. You will be on the leading edge (Luff) attached to the mast or forestay and at the rear end (clew) with a Sheet either on the tree or loosely adjusted to the wind. For "Before the Wind" courses Depending on the angle of the wind, a spinnaker is placed.
Frame sails are no longer in use for many reasons. Inclined frames as well Latin sailing is no longer common.
A tree extended to the foresail, to which the foresail is also attached in Practical Boat Owner, No 369 October 1997 page 140 and No 339 page 79, described.
A large, overlapping headsail - a so-called genoa - can, for certain Courses that offer the advantage of a parallel sail.
The overall efficiency of a sail improves when the leading edge of the Sail is slanted, like the Polynesian crab scissor sail. This is in the yacht 22/88 described. This fact has so far been transferred to a modern rig proven difficult.
Since usual sails are always at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the ship, the is Starting point of the wind power always outside the center line of the ship. Therefore there is a moment after windward, which must be compensated with countermeasures. In the case of courses "hard on the wind" on the other hand, heeling is more pronounced, because of the no longer vertical orientation of the fuselage, the flow resistance, because the fuselage is then not optimally flowed to
With a usual Bermuda rig it is not possible to just sail against the wind (to windward) to decrease the heel.
Ships with a "swing mast" are masts that can be tilted in the wind direction has already been built with great effort.
After each course change, the sails must also be individually new again be adjusted and aligned. With some courses, the sails can at all cannot be set optimally. Especially with courses with "half wind" they can Headsails, because they are driven without a tree, are not trimmed flat enough. this will prevented by the already mentioned tree, extended to the foresail, but is here the angle of rotation is severely restricted. In addition, this invention does not offer that Advantage of the parallel sail.
With genoa and mainsail, the sails are parallel in courses "Hart am Wind", at However, the genoa has to be laboriously turned to the other side of the mast become.
In front of the wind" cannot be sailed with aerodynamic buoyancy, but rather only with resistance.
The object of the invention is:
to shift the starting point of the wind power to the mast,
make it easier to align the sails,
make the sails turnable up to 360 degrees,
to place the leading edge of the sail at an angle to the wind,
and to make the sails tiltable against the wind.
This object is achieved in that a sailing rig with an unbalanced mast 1 , Querrah 3 , two inclined racks 4 and a cross tree 5 is specified, in which the unpayed mast 1 is surrounded by a rotatable mast sleeve 2 , on which the Querrah 3 and the cross tree 5 are attached.
Further suitable embodiments of the invention are set out in the subclaims.
Parallel sails 7 can be attached to the inclined rows 4 . If the common pivot point of the two parallel sails is selected correctly, the wind force that is transmitted to the sails 7 can act on the center line of the ship, no matter in which direction the wind is sailed. This means that the propulsive force can be transferred to the ship more effectively. Less countermeasures are necessary.
The sails 7 can be optimally trimmed with the cross tree 5 , flat or bulbous, depending on the wind strength. This trim remains with every course change and does not have to be reset every time, except when the wind conditions change. In the event of a course change, and thus a change in the sail position around the unstayed mast 1 , both sails 7 move together. They can be rotated up to 360 degrees if necessary.
The leading edge of the sails 7 becomes oblique due to the inclined rows 4 , so that the effect of the crab scissors sail can be exploited.
The movable cross frame 3 makes it possible to tilt the sails 7 against the wind. This means that when the ship is heeling, the sails 7 can still be perpendicular to the wind.
The advantages mentioned make simple, safe handling of the sails 7 and faster sailing possible.
An embodiment of the device according to the invention is described below explained in more detail by drawings.
Fig. 1 zeigt den kompletten Aufbau des Riggs in einer isometrischen Ansicht, Fig. 1 shows the complete structure of the rig in an isometric view,
Fig. 2 den kompletten Aufbau des Riggs in der Seitenansicht und Fig. 2 shows the complete structure of the rig in side view
Fig. 3 shows the complete structure of the rig in plan view.
The unpayed mast 1 is completely surrounded by the rotatable mast sleeve 2 in the drawing. The Querrah 3 is horizontally attached to the rotatable mast sleeve 2 . At the ends of the Querrah 3 the left and right of the rotatable mast sleeve 2, the two inclined frames ( 4 ) are attached.
Since the inclined frames 4 always move together with the sails 7 , the sails 7 can never be in a bent position with respect to the mast and thus worsen the inflow of the sails 7 .
At the lower part of the inclined rows 4 , the cross tree 5 holds them in position. Two sails 7 are drawn in parallel on the rig. They are attached to the slanting frames 4 and the cross tree 5 .
Fig. 6 zeigt eine Seitenansicht, Fig. 7 eine Draufsicht. The cross tree 5 is connected to the rotatable mast sleeve 2 by a special fitting 8 . The connection by means of the special fitting 8 is shown in detail in FIGS. 6 and 7. FIG. 6 shows a side view, FIG. 7 shows a top view. The cross tree holder 13 is firmly connected to the rotatable mast sleeve 2 . The special fitting 8 is attached to the cross tree holder 13 and secured with an end plate 14 , but the cross tree holder 13 is axially rotatable. The cross tree 5 can thus be tilted about an axis perpendicular to the rotatable mast sleeve 2 . This is necessary so that the sails 7 can be tilted into the wind.
FIGS. 4 and 5 show in detail how the Querrah 3 can be displaced to incline the sail 7 through the inventive device. Fig. 5 shows the sails 7 in an upright position, parallel to the unstayed mast 1 , Fig. 4 shows the sails 7 in a position inclined to the wind. The connection of the Querrah 3 with the inclined rows 4 is fixed, the Querrah 3 on the rotatable mast sleeve 2, however, can be moved to the left and right so that the sails 7 with the inclined rows 4 can be inclined into the wind. The parallel sails 7 can thus be inclined towards windward. This creates a buoyancy component that makes the ship less heeling, which reduces water resistance and makes the sails more effective. The less heeling occurs, the less resistance the ship will move through the water.
The rotatable mast sleeve 2 can have a ring gear 9 and a gear 10 on the lower part. As a result, the entire rig, consisting of a rotatable mast sleeve 2 , transverse frame 3 , inclined frame 4 and cross tree 5 , can be rotated up to 360 °. This is possible because both sails 7 are balanced and therefore little force acts on the ring gear 9 and the gear 10 . In Figs. 10 and 11 of the ring gear 9 and the transmission 10 is shown in detail. It can be seen how the ring gear 9 can be attached above the deck 11 . The drive of the transmission 10 is shown with a hand crank 12 , a chain drive, a rack or other mechanical transmissions are also conceivable. An electrical adjustment device is also possible. The ring gear 9 can be driven from the cockpit or from any other desired location.
Patent necks are no longer possible because the tree cannot move uncontrollably. Nonetheless, the quick lifting of the sails 7 is improved in the event of danger, since both sails 7 can be operated with one hand. It is possible to brake with wind power and, if necessary, even sail backwards, making the "man over board" maneuver very easy and contributing to safety. It is possible to cross with aerodynamic lift even in aft wind.
On long stretches that are to be sailed with aft wind, it is still possible to sail with resistance. The two sails are spread to the left and right. FIGS. 8 and 9 show how the sails are know 7 swung with the erfindunsgemäßen device when required in butterfly position. On the cross tree 5 two spreading trees 6 are attached. In the rest position, the spreading trees 6 are lashed onto the cross tree 5 . If necessary, the attachment can be loosened and the spreading trees 6 can be swung out. Fig. 8 shows a view of the rig with pivoted-Spreizbäumen. 6 This constellation is shown in plan view in FIG. 9. If the sails 7 are spread to the left and right, the sail surface is at an angle to the aft wind, creating a kite effect. Due to the sloping frame, the sail pressure point has moved forward when the sails are spread. As a result, the entire rig becomes a self-steering system for courses before the wind.
