Water treatment to stabilize hardness at high temps. - by adding an organic polymer contg. carboxyl and hydroxyl gps.
DE 2522637 A1
Resumen
Water treatment consists of stabilising the hardness by adding, at pH 5-9, a sub-stoichiometric amt. of an organic nitrogen-free and phosphorus-free polymer (I) with a main chain consisting mainly of C-C bonds and contg. COOH or carboxylate gps. and OH gps. in a ratio of between 2 and 9 and having a degree of polymsn. of 3-600, alone or in combination with a polymer (II) having unsatd. C-C bonds and carboxyl gps., and having a mol.wt. of 1 X 105-15X106, in amts. of 0.1-15 p.p.m., esp. 1.5-5 p.p.m., calcd. as 100% substance, to water at 90 degrees C and at a max. of 500 p.p.m. to water at 90-130 Degrees C. Gives good stabilisation of hardness in water at high temps., and gives improved results under these conditions compared with prior art complexing agents such as condensed inorganic phosphates, EDTA, etc., and gives longer stabilisation of hardness at elevated temps. than known polyacrylate water treatment agents.
