wobei X ein Wasserstoffatom oder Halogenatom bedeutet; wobei Yi ein Wasserstoff- oder Halogenatom
oder eine Alkyl-, niedere Alkoxy-, Nitro-, Hydroxyl-, Alkoxycarbonyl-, Carboxyl-, Phenyl-,
Phenylamino-, Alkenyl-, Thiocyano-, Sulfon-, Acetylamino-
oder Sulfamoyl-Gruppe ist; wobei Y2 ein Wasserstoffatom oder Halogenatom oder eine
Alkyl-, niedere Alkoxy-, Nitro- oder Hydroxyl-Gruppe ist and wobei Y3 ein Wasserstoffatom oder ein
Halogenatom oder eine Dialkylaminogruppe ist
2. Mittel nach Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet durch 5 bis 80 Gew.-% des N-Arylmaleimids bezogen auf
das Harz als filmbildendes Mittel.
3. Mittel nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Harz und das N-Arylmaleimid in einem
organischen Lösungsmittel aufgelöst oder in Wasser emulgiertsind.
4. Mittel nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es in Form einer
Beschichtung eines Fischfangnetzes vorliegt.
5. Mittel nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es in Form einer
Beschichtung eines Schiffsrumpfes oder einer anderen in Wasser befindlichen Vorrichtung vorliegt.
6. Verwendung eines Mittels nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5 zur Beschichtung von Fischfangnetzen,
Schiffsrümpfen oder im Wasser befindlichen Vorrichtungen.
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Mittel zur Inhibierung des
Anhaftens von Schaltentieren und Algen. Dieses Mittel dient zur Beschichtung von Schiffsrümpfen, Fischfangnetzen
und Apparaturen, welche mit dem Meerwasser in Berührung kommen. Solche Apparaturen sind z. B.
Bojen für die Wellenerzeugung, Wasserkonstruktionen, z. B. ein Adam-Apparat, Wasserkanäle für zu kühlendes
Wasser in der Kühlanlage einer Heizkraftanlage oder Wärmeaustauscher für petrochemische Anlagen.
Es ist bekannt, daß verschiedene Schaltiere und Algen, wie Baianus, Ostrea, Mytilus, Hydrozoa, Styela,
Bugula, Ulva, Enteromorpha, Ectocarpus od. dgl. sich an
in Wasser befindlichen Oberflächen festsetzen, z. B. an Schiffsrümpfen oder an Apparaturen, welche mit dem
Wasser in Berührung kommen oder an Konstruktionen im Wasser oder an Wasserkanälen für Kühlwasser
od. dgl. Diese Schaltiere und Algen bewirken eine Zunahme des Strömungswiderstandes und eine Abnahme
der Wärmeleitfähigkeit so daß die Funktion der Geräte beeinträchtigt wird. Im Falle eines Schiffes führt
die Herabminderung der Geschwindigkeit zu einem übermäßigen Brennstoffverbrauch. Es ist erforderlich,
zur Reinigung des Schiffsrumpfes das Schiff aus dem Wasser zu nehmen. Dieses Anheben des Schifies
verursacht erhebliche Kostea Die Kosten für die Reinigung sind erheblich. Dies sind erhebliche wirtschaftliche
Nachteile.
Bei Wasserkonstruktionen wird durch das Ansetzen von Schaltieren und Algen die Handhabung erheblich
erschwert Bei Wasserkanälen für Kühlwasser in Kondensatoren oder Wärmeaustauschern sinkt der
Wasserdurchsatz, so daß die Kühlleistung herabgesetzt ist oder die Funktion des Kühlers oder Wärmeaustauschers
beeinträchtigt wird. Der Kühler oder Wärmeaustauscher kann durch Massen von Schaltieren und Algen
beschädigt werden, welche sich von der Wandung ablösen. Auch dies verursacht erhebliche wirtschaftliche
Verluste. Zur Verhinderung dieser Schwierigkeiten durch das Anhaften von Schaltieren und Algen des
Seewassers oder Süßwassers wurden verschiedene Überzugsmittel vorgeschlagen, welche Schwermetallverbindungen
enthalten, z. B. Kupferoxide, Quecksilberoxide, zinnorganische Oxide oder organische chlorhaltige
Verbindungen und organische schwefelhaltige Verbindungen oder Arsenverbindungen, wie Phenarsazinchlorid
od. dgl.
Im Falle von Wasserleitungen oder Wasserkanälen für Kühlwasser führt man direkt Chlor oder Formalin in
das Wasser ein, um die Vermehrung und Anhaftung von Schaltieren und Algen zu verhindern. Die bisher
bekannten Hemmittel mit Schwermetallverbindungen wie Kupferoxiden oder Quecksilberoxiden zeigen
jedoch eine geringe Stabilität bei der Lagerung, da die Schwermetallverbindung mit den Harzkomponenten
des Mittels reagiert. In verschmutzten Seewassergebieten, z. B. in Häfen, welche mit Industrieabwassern
verschmutzt werden, kommt es zur Entwicklung von Schwefelwasserstoff durch Mikroorganismen, so daß
die Schwermetallverbinden sich verfärben und zersetzen und ihre Wirksamkeit verlieren. Kupferverbindungen
und Quecksilberverbindungen sind wirksam gegen Schaltiere, wie Baianus, Ostrea, Mytilus, Hydrozoa,
Styela, Brgula od. dgl. Sie sind jedoch gegen Algen unwirksam.
Wenn das Mittel zur Beschichtung eines Substrats aus Leichtmetall, wie Aluminium oder Alumii lum-Magnesium
verwendet wird, so kommt es zu einer Abscheidung des Schwermetalls, wie Kupfer oder Quecksilber am
Substrat, wodurch die Korrosion des Substrats elektrochemisch beschleunigt wird. Dies ist ein erheblicher
Nachteil. Hemmittel, welche zinnorganische Verbindungen enthalten, wie Tributylzinnoxid, zeigen eine
geringere Wirksamkeit als Mittel auf der Basis von Kupferverbindungen oder Quecksilberverbindungen
und sie sind außerdem sehr teuer. Wenn eine große Menge der zinnorganischen Verbindung zugemischt
wird, so verschlechtern sich hierdurch die Eigenschaften und bei der Handhabung macht sich ein schlechter
Geruch lästig bemerkbar.
Hemmittel mit organischen chlorhaltigen Verbindungen oder organischen schwefelhaltigen Verbindungen
ezigen eine geringere Wirksamkeit wie die vorgenannten Hemmittel. Sie sind zwar wirksam gegen Bugula,
aber nicht gegenüber Baianus. Sie sind nur gegenüber speziellen Schaltieren und Mgen wirksam, so daß ihre
praktische Anwendung nicht vorteilhaft ist Hemmittel
mit Phenarsazinchlorid wurden ebenfalls bereits angewandt Phenarsazinchlorid ist jedoch auch für den
Menschen äußerst toxisch. Es reizt die Schleimhäute. Daher bereitet die Herstellung und Handhabung dieser
Mittel erhebliche Schwierigkeiten. Bei Zusatz von Chlor oder Formalin zu Kühlwasser, kommt es zu einer
Korrosion der Kühlgeräte. Außerdem ist die damit erzielte Wirksamkeit gegen das Anhaften von Schaltieren
und Algen nicht sehr groß.
Alle vorgenannten Mittel sind für den menschlichen Körper und für Fische toxisch, so daß ihre Anwendung
beschränkt ist
In vorliegender Beschreibung wird das Mittel zur Inhibierung der Anhaftung von Schaltieren und Algen
als Schaltier-Algen-Inhibierungsmittel bezeichnet
Es ist Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung, die genannten Nachteile der herkömmlichen Besd-ichtungsma-.sen
zur Inhibierung der Anhaftung von Schaltieren und Algen zu überwinden und ein
Schahier-Algen-Inhibierungsmittel zu schaffen, welches
gegenüber Fischen eine geringe Toxizität hat und gegenüber Säugetieren keine Toxizität hat und welches
eine große Wirksamkeit zur Inhibierung der Anhaftung von Schaltieren und Algen hat und diese auch bei
verschmutztem Meerwasser während langer Zeit beibehält
Ferner ist es Aufgabe der Erfindung, ein Schaltier-Algen-Inhibierungsmittel
zu schaffen, welches nicht zu einer elektro-chemischen Korrosion von Leichtmetallsubstraten
wie Aluminium oder Magnesium führt und welches keine Korrosion von Kühlvorrichtungen
verursacht und die Anhaftung und Vermehrung von Schaltieren und Algen inhibiert.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch ein Mittel zur Inhibierung der Anhaftung von Schaltieren
und Algen gelöst, welches ein Harz, ein Trägermedium und ein N-Arylmaleimid der folgenden allgemeinen
Formel umfaßt

N-Arylmaleimide der Formel (I), welche als Wirkstoffe
zur Inhibierung von Schaltieren und Algen verwendet werden können, werden hergestellt durch Umsetzung
eines Maleinsäureanhydrids der Formel (II) mit einem Arylamin der Formel (III) in Gegenwart oder
Abwesenheit eines Lösungsmittels bei 20 bis 100°C während 0,5 bis 2 h. Das dabei erhaltene N-Arylmale-
Reaktionsschema 1
amid (IV) wird zum Zwecke der Cyclisierung in Gegenwart eines Säurekatalysators bei 80 bis 2000C
während 1 bis 10 h dehydratisiert, ohne daß das N-Arylmaleamid (IV) vorher vom Reaktionsgemisch
abgetrennt wird. Diese Reaktionen können durch nachfolgende Formeln wiedergegeben werden.

Dabei haben X, Y1, Y2 und Y3 die oben angegebene
Bedeutung.
Wenn die Reaktion in einem Lösungsmittel durchgeführt wird, so verwendet man vorzugsweise ein inertes
Lösungsmittel. Geeignete Lösungsmittel umfassen aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Octan, Decan,
Ligroin und Cyclohexan; aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, Äthylbenzol, Diisopropylbenzol,
Lösungsmittelnaphtha; halogenaromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Chlorbenzol, Dichlorbenzol,
Chlortoluol und Chlorisopropylbenzol; Äther, wie n-Butyläther, Diisoamyläther und Dioxan; Nitrile, wie
Acetonitril, Propionitril und Benzonitril; Ketone, wie Methyläthylketon und Methylisobutylketon.
Als Säurekatalysator kann man herkömmliche Dehydratationsmittel
verwenden. Geeignete Säurekatalysatoren umfassen Salzsäure, Schwefelsäure, Schwefeltrioxid,
Trifluoressigsäure, Trifiuormethansulfonsäure, Phosphorsäure, Essigsäureanhydrid, Thionylchlorid,
Phosphoroxychlorid und Toluolsulfonsäure. Die Menge des Säurekatalysators liegt im Bereich von 0,01 bis 0,3
Molen pro 1 Mol Maleinsäureanhydrid (II).
Geeignete Maleinsäureanhydride der Formel (II) umfassen Maleinsäureanhydrid, 2,3-Difluormaleinsäureanhydrid,
2,3-Dichiormaleinsäureanhydrid und 2,3-Dibrommaleinsäureanhydrid.
Geeignete aromatische Amine sind Anilin, Halogenanilin, Alkylanilin, niedere Alkoxyaniline, Nitroaniline,
Hydroxyaniline, Alkoxycarbonylaniline, Carboxyaniline,
Phenylaniline, Phenylaminoaniüne, Alkenylaniline, Thiocyanoaniline, Sulfonaniline, Acetylaminoaniline,
Sulfamoylaniline, Dihalogenaniline, Dialkylaniline, Di(niederalkoxy)aniline, Haiogennitroaniline, Halogenhydroxyaniline,
Alkylnitroaniline, Alkylalkoxycarbonylaniline, Nitro-niederalkoxy-aniline, Carboxylhydroxyaniline,
Trihalogenaniline, Ν,Ν-Dialkylaminodinitroaniline.
Gewöhnlich setzt man die äquimolare Menge oder mehr als die äquimolare Menge des aromatischen
Amins (III) mit dem Maleinsäureanhydrid (II) um.
Im folgenden wird die Herstellung der N-Arylmaleimide
anhand von Herstellungsbeispielen näher erläutert.
Hersiellungsbeispiel 1
In einen 500-mI-Vierhalskolben, welcher mit einem
Thermometer, einem Kühler und einem Wasserabscheider sowie einem Tropftrichter und einem Rührer
ausgerüstet ist, gibt man 150 ml Xylol und 19,6 g (0,2 Mole) Maleinsäureanhydrid werden darin aufgelöst.
5C Sodann tropft man eine Lösung von 25,5 g (0,2 Mole)
4-Chloranilin in 100 ml Xylol bei Zimmertemperatur unter Rühren in die Lösung. Es erfolgt eine exotherme
Reaktion. Die Umsetzung wird unter Rühren bei 60 bis 68° C während 2 h, gerechnet von der Zugabe,
durchgeführt Sodann gibt man 1,0 g (0,0097 Mole) Schwefelsäure zu dem Reaktionsgemisch und die
Reaktion wird unter Rühren bei 135 bis 138° C während
4 h unter azeotroper Destillation weitergeführt Nach der Umsetzung wird das Xylol abdestilliert und das
Reaktionsgemisch wird in 500 ml Wasser gegossen. Der Niederschlag wird abfiltriert Das Produkt wird aus
Äthanol umkristallisiert Man erhält 36,5 g N-(4-Chlorphenyl)maleimid
mit einem Schmelzpunkt von 109 bis 1100C (Ausbeute 88,1%).

Schaltier-Algen-Inhibierungsmittel können in Form
von Besc^ichtungsmassen, wie Lacken, Farben, Lösungen
oder Emulsionen angewandt werden. Ein oder mehrere N-Arylmaleimide (I) können mit geeigneten
fümbüdenden Massen vermischt werden, wobei man eine Beschichtungsmasse für die Inhibierung der
Adhäsion von Schaltieren und Algen erhält Solche Farben eignen sich zum Anstreichen von Schiffsrümpfen
und von Wasserkonstruktionen sowie für den Anstrich der Innenwandungen von Apparaturen, durch
welche Kühlwasser strömt. Hierdurch wird das Absetzen von Schaltieren und Algen an der beschichteten
Oberfläche vollständig verhindert Als filmbildende Substanzen kommen Lacke, synthetische Harze und
synthetische Kautschuke in Frage. Man kann auch geeignete Pigmente und Füllstoffe zumischen.
Die N-Arylmaleimide (I) werden gewöhnlich in Mengen von 5 bis 80 Gew.-% und vo. zugsweise 10 bis
50 Gew.-% der filmbildenden Masse einverleibt Um das Anhaften und Wachsen von Schaltieren und Algen in
den Leitungen des Kühlwassers zu verhindern, kann man das N-Arylmaleimid in Form einer Emulsion
zusetzen. Zur Aufrechterhaltung der inhibierenden Wirkung während einer langen Zeit ist es jedoch
erforderlich, die Innenwandung mit einer Farbe oder einem Lack zu beschichten.
Wenn das N-Arylmaleimid zur Behandlung von Fischfangnetzen verwendet wird, so wird das N-Arylmaleimid
und ein Harz in einem organischen Lösungsmittel aufgelöst, wobei man eine Harzlösung erhält. Die
Fischfangnetze werden sodann in diese Lösung eingetaucht und anschließend getrocknet. Zur Herstellung
einer solchen Lösung wird das N-Arylmaleimid (I) in Mengen von 1 bis 10 Gew.-% und vorzugsweise 1 bis
6 Gew.-% einverleibt und das Harz wird in Mengen von 5 bis 15 Gew.-% und vorzugsweise 7 bis 12 Gew.-%
einverleibt, bezogen auf das organische Lösungsmittel. In dem genannten Konzentrationsbereich des N-Arylmaleimids
(I) kommen im wesentlichen keine unterschiedlichen Effekte zustande. Als Harz für die
Herstellung der Lösung eignen sich Vinylchloridharze, Phenolharze, Alkydharze, chlorierter Kautschuk od. dgl.
Als organische Lösungsmittel eignen sich Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, Chloroform od. dgl. Wenn das Harz nicht
ohne weiteres löslich ist, so kann man 5 bis 15 Vol.-% Dimethylformamid, Dimethylacetamid, Dimethylsulfoxid
od. dgl. dem organischen Lösungsmittel zumischen. Die Materialien, aus denen die mit dem erfindungsgemäßen
Schaltier-Algen-Inhibierungsmitte] zu behandelnden
Fischernetze bestehen können, unterliegen keinen Beschränkungen. Die Fischfangnetze können aus
Naturfasern, Polyvinylchlorid, Polyvinylalkohol, Polyvinylidenchlorid, Polyfluoräthylen, Polyamid, Polyäthylen,
Polypropylen, Polystyrol, Polyacrylnitril od. dgl. bestehen.
Die Wirksamkeit der N-Arylmaleimide (I) gemäß vorliegender Erfindung zur Inhibierung der Anhaftung
von Schaltieren und Algen soll im folgenden anhand von Versuchen demonstriert werden. Es werden verschiedene
Erzeugnisse mit Massen, welche N-Arylmaleimid (I) enthalten, beschichtet.

Schaltier-Algen-Inhibierungstest
(1) Herstellung der Probenplatte und Testverfahren
Es wird jeweils eine Stahlplatte (300x 100 χ 1 mm)
mil einem Primer einmal vorbeschichiet und danach zweimal mit einer Schiffsanstrichfarbe beschichtet. Jede
Platte wird sodann mit den erhaltenen Mitteln :-, (Anstrichmittel Nr. 1 unter Verwendung verschiedener
N-Arylmaleimide) mit einem Pinsel beschichtet, und zwar insgesamt zweimal, jede Probe wird in einen
Holzrahmen eingesetzt und von einem Floß aus in Meerwasser bis zu einer Tiefe von 1,5 m eingetaucht.
(2) Ergebnisse
Die in das Meerwasser eingetauchten Proben werden nach 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 und 12 Monaten entnommen. Das
Verhältnis der mit Schaltieren und Algen besetzten Fläche zur Gesamtfläche der Probe ist in Tabelle 3
angegeben (Prozent). Das Verhältnis der mit Schaltieren besetzten Fläche zur Gesamtfläche der Probe und
das Verhältnis der mit Algen besetzten Fläche zur Gesamtfläche der Probe ist ebenfalls angegeben (in
Prozent).

Schaltier-Algen-lnhibierung bei Fischfangnetzen
(Versuch Nr. 1)
(1) Herstellung des Mittels
Die Verbindung Nr. 1, nämlich N-Phenylmaleimid,
wird gleichförmig mit den folgenden Komponenten vermischt, wobei eine Harzlösung erhalten wird.

(2) Behandlung des Fischfangnetzes
Das Fischfangnetz wird mit der Harzlösung 2-(l) in so gleicher Weise behandelt wie die Behandlung des
Fischfangnetzes 1-(2).
(2) Behandlung des Fischfangnetzes
Ein Fischfangnetz mit 11 Knoten (Stichweite:
3,03 cm), hergestellt aus Polyamidfasern (Toray Co. Ltd.) wird in die Harzlösung (1) eingetaucht und während 12 h
an Luft getrocknet.
Schaltier-Algen-Inhibierungsversuchfur
Fischfangnetze (Versuch Nr. 2)
(1) Herstellung des Mittels
Die Verbindung Nr. 3, nämlich N-(3-Chlorphenyl)-maleimid
wird gleichförmig mit den folgenden Komponenten verm'scht, wobei eine Harzlösung erhalten wird.
Prüfung der behandelten Fischfangnetze (Versuch Nr. 3)
Die Schaltier-Algen-Inhibierungstests werden unter
Verwendung verschiedenster Fischfangnetze durchgeführt, welche mit verschiedene N-Arylmaleimide enthaltenden
Harzlösungen behandelt wurden, und zwar gemäß Versuch Nr. 1.
(1) Testverfahren
Es wird jeweils eine Probe mit den Abmessungen 50 χ 50 cm aus den behandelten Fischfangnetzen geschnitten
und in einen Stahlrahmen mit den Abmessungen 60 χ 60 cm eingespannt und von einem Floß aus in
einer Tiefe von 1,5 m in Meerwasser eingetaucht.

(2) Ergebnisse
Die Proben werden nach 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 und 6 Monaten aus dem Meer gezogen. Die Proben werden auf
anhaftende Schaltiere und Algen, wie Hydrozoa, Styela, Bugula, Ulva, Enteromorpha, Ectocarpus od. dgl. untersucht
und die Zunahme des Gewichts der Netze wird gemessen. Die Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle 4 zusammengestellt.
Die Ergebnisse werden folgendermaßen bewertet:
— keine Anhaftung
± einzelne Flecken
eine geringe Anhaftung über die gesamte Oberfläche
eine größere Anhaftung auf der gesamten Oberfläche
große Mengen haften an dem Netz an und verstopfen einzelne Maschen.
Das Verhältnis der Gewichtszunahme des Netzes ist in nachfolgender Tabelle 4 (in Prozent) angegeben,
bezogen auf das Ausgangsgewicht des Netzes. Das Gewicht wurde 1 h nach dem Herausziehen des Netzes
aus dem Meer festgestellt.

1. Mittel zur Inhibierung der Anhaftung von Schaltieren und Algen mit einem Harz, einem
Trägermedium und einen Wirkstoff, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß der Wirkstoff ein N-Arylmaleimid der folgenden allgemeinen Formel
ist
