Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf thermoplastische Polyurethanelastomere und daraus erzeugte Formkörper.
Die Erfindung bezieht sich insbesondere auf thermoplastische Polyurethane, die für (1) Kfz-Produktanwendungen,
(2) Vieh-Ohrenmarken, (3) Beschichtungen, (4) beschichtete Stoffe und dergleichen brauchbar sind. Diese
thermoplastischen Polyurethane werden ausgehend von einer Reaktionsmischung erhalten, die (a) Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol
mit einem Molekulargewicht von 1000 bis etwa 3000 und mit 25 bis 60 Gew.% Oxyäthylengruppen;
(b) ein Polyesterpolyol mit einem Molekulargewicht von 1000 bis etwa 3000; (c) ein Polyisocyanat;
und (d) einen niedermolekularen Polyol-Kettenverlängerer umfaßt.
Die vorliegenden Produkte basieren zusätzlich zum Poläther auf einem Polyester und ergeben unerwartet
verbesserte physikalische Eigenschaften (insbesondere eine hohe Zugfestigkeit) und sie besitzen im übrigen

eine bedeutend verbesserte Formbarkeit und Malfähigkeit bzw. Verstreichbarkeit. Die auf Mischungen von Polyester
und Polyäther basierenden erfindungsgemäßen Produkte haben überraschenderweise Zugfestigkeitseigenschaften,
die den entsprechenden Eigenschaften von Produkten auf Polyesterbasis nahekommen und in der Tat können die auf
Polyester-Polyäther basierenden erfindungsgemäßen Produkte
Zugfestigkeitseigenschaften haben, die tatsächlich besser sind als diejenigen von nur auf Polyestern basierenden
Produkten, so daß ein völlig unerwarteter, sehr überraschender synergistischer Effekt vorliegt, wie es
in den weiter unten folgenden Beispielen noch näher gezeigt werden wird.
Die vorliegende Erfindung basiert mithin auf der unerwarteten Feststellung, daß ein thermoplastisches Polyurethanelastomeres
mit einer bemerkenswerten Kombination von erwünschten Eigenschaften ausgehend von einer Reaktionsmischung
erhalten werden kann, die folgende Kompo-
20 nenten umfaßt:
(a) Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol mit einem
Molekulargewicht von 1000 bis etwa 3000 und mit 25 bis 60 Gew.% Oxyäthylengruppen;
(b) Polyesterpolyol mit einem Molekulargewicht von 1000 bis etwa 3000;
(c) Polyisocyanat; und

(d) einen niedermolekularen Polyol-Kettenverlängerer.
Die aus den vorstehenden Bestandteilen erzeugten Polyurethane besitzen eine einzigartige Kombination von
Eigenschaften wie ausgezeichnete hohe Zugfestigkeit, hohe Reißfestigkeit, hohe Dehnung, ausgezeichnete thermische
Eigenschaften (bei hohen und tiefen Temperaturen), her-

vorragende Verarbeitbarkeit, gute Formbarkeit und Verstreichbarkeit
und sie können zu vielen komplizierten Gegenständen ausgeformt werden.
Erfindungsgemäße Polyurethanthermoplaste können entweder
nach einer Präpolymertechnik oder in einem Arbeitsgang (Masterbatch-technik) hergestellt werden. Das Präpolymere
wird durch Umsetzung von organischem Polyhydroxylmaterial, das durch eine Mischung von Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol
und einem Polyesterpolyol gebildet wird, mit einem Polyisocyanat zur Bildung eines Präpolymeren
mit Isocyanatenden erhalten. Das Präpolymere wird dann mit einer äquivalenten Menge eines niedermolekularen
Polyolkettenverlängerers behandelt und zur Herbeiführung einer "Härtung" auf erhöhte Temperaturen erhitzt.
Die Herstellung "in einem Arbeitsgang" erfolgt durch gleichzeitiges Zusammenmischen von Polyhydroxylverbindungen,
Kettenverlängerer und Polyisocyanat bei mäßigen Temperaturen mit nachfolgender Härtung bei erhöhten
Temperaturen. Diese Herstellung in einem Arbeitsgang wird für die Durchführung der Erfindung bevorzugt.
Das gemäß der Erfindung angewandte Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol
(a) kann entweder ein sog. "beschlagenes" Polyol, bei welchem ein Poly(oxypropylen)-glykol
weiter mit Äthylenoxid zur Bildung von Oxyäthylengruppenblöcken an jedem Ende des Polyols umgesetzt wird
oder ein mehr zufälliges Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol
sein, bei dem Propylenoxid und Äthylenoxid als Reaktionspartner gemeinsam oder in alternierenden
Mengen angewandt werden.
Der Oxyäthylengruppengehalt des Polyols (a) kann
von 25 bis 60 % reichen, wobei die höheren Anteile für die höher_molekularen Polyole bevorzugt werden. Für ein
M (Molekulargewicht) 2000 Polyol liegt der bevorzugte

Oxyäthylengruppengehalt bei 30 bis 50 %, wobei die höheren
Anteile für die höher_molekularen Polyole bevorzugt werden. Das angewandte Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol
(a) hat wie angegeben ein Molekulargewicht von etwa 1000 bis etwa 3000.
Die bei der Polyurethanerzeugung angewandten Polyestertypen von Polyolen sind im Fachbereich gleichfalls
gut bekannt und brauchen hier nicht im einzelnen beschrieben zu werden. Es dürfte klar sein, daß sie kettenverlängerte
Polyester umfassen, die aus einem Glykol (zum Beispiel Äthylen- und/oder Propylenglykol) und einer gesättigten
Dicarbonsäure (zum Beispiel Adipinsäure) erzeugt sind. Als nichteinschränkende Beispiele sind zu
nennen: Poly(äthylenadipat)-glykol, Poly(propylenadipat)-glykol,
Poly(butylenadipat)-glykol, Poly(neopentylsebacat)-glykol usw.. Kleine Mengen an dreiwertigen Alkoholen
wie Trimethylolpropan oder Trimethyloläthan können in die Polyesterherstellung einbezogen werden. Polyesterpolyole
mit Funktionalitäten von 3 oder mehr (zum Beispiel Glyceride von 12-Hydroxy-Stearinsäure) sind ebenfalls
brauchbar. Zu geeigneten Polyesterpolyolen gehören solche, die durch Umsetzung etwa von Polyolen wie 1,4-Butandiol,
Hydrochinon-bis-(2-hydroxyäthyl)äther, Äthylenglykol,
Diäthylenglykol, Trläthylenglykol, Propylenglykol, Dipropylenglykol, 2-Methyl-2-äthyl-1,3-propandiol,
2-Äthyl-1,3-hexandiol, 1,5-Pentandiol, Thiodiglykol, 1,3-Propandiol,
1,3-Butandiol, 2,3-Butandiol, Neopentylglykol,
1,2-Dimethyl-1,2-cyclopentandiol, 1,2-Cyclohexandiol,
i^-Dimethyl-i^-cyclohexandiol, Glycerin, Trimethylolpropan,
Trimethyloläthan, 1,2,4-Butantriol, 1,2,
6-Hexantriol, Pentaerythrit, Dipentaerythrit, Tripentaerythrit, Anhydroaneaheptit, Mannit, Sorbit, Methylglucosld
und dergleichen mit solchen Dicarbonsäuren wie Adipinsäure, Bernsteinsäure, Glutarsäure, Azelainsäure,

Sebacinsäure, Malonsäure, Maleinsäure, Fumarsäure,
Phthalsäure, Isophthalsäure, Terephthalsäure, Tetrachlorphthalsäure und Hetsäure erhältlich sind; die Säureanhydride
und Säurehalogenide dieser Säuren können ebenfalls benutzt werden. Der Polyester hat ein Molekulargewicht
von etwa 1000 bis etwa 3000, vorzugsweise etwa 2000.
Für die Anwendung im Rahmen der Erfindung geeignete Polyisocyanate sind die aromatischen Diisocyanate 2,4-Tolylendiisocyanat
und Methylen-bis-(4-phenylisocyanat) sowie die aliphatischen Diisocyanate 4,4!-Diisocyanatodicyclohexylmethan
und Isophorondiisocyanat.
Die Kettenverlängerer sind typischerweise Diamine 15 oder Diole.
Das im Rahmen der Erfindung angewandte Verhältnis von (a) Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol zu
(b) Polyesterpolyol reicht von etwa 10/90 bis 90/10 (in Gewicht), wobei das bevorzugte Verhältnis von etwa
80/20 bis 40/60 reicht.
Das anwendbare Molverhältnis von Kettenverlängerer (d) zu Polyol (a) + (b) hängt von der Anwendung des PoIyols
ab und liegt üblicherweise bei 3 zu 1 bis 10 zu 1. Das zur Herstellung der flexiblen Thermoplaste angewandte
NCO/OH-Verhältnis kann von 0,95 bis 1,10 reichen, wobei 1,00 bis 1,05 bevorzugt werden.

auch nicht angewandt werden. Einige Beispiele für brauchbare Katalysatoren sind N-Methyl-morpholin, N-Äthyl-morpholin,
Triäthylamin, Triäthylendlamin, N,N1-Bis-(2-hydroxy-propyl)-2-methyl-piperazin,
Dimethyläthanolamin, tertiäre Aminoalkohole, tertiäre Esteramine, Zinn(II)-
35 octoat, Dibutylzlnndilaurat und dergleichen.

Auf Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol allein
basierende flexible Polyurethan-Thermoplaste besitzen gute physikalische Eigenschaften sowie eine gute Wärmebeständigkeit,
jedoch zeigt dieser Urethantyp gewisse Mangel hinsichtlich der Verarbeitbarkeit und Formbarkeit.
Insbesondere besitzen diese Polyurethane einen relativ geringen Modul und bereiten so Schwierigkeiten beim Entformen,
wenn sie im Spritzgußverfahren zu großen komplizierten Gegenständen verarbeitet werden.
Die flexiblen Polyurethan-Thermoplaste gemäß der Erfindung aus Mischungen von (a) Poly(oxypropylen)-poly
(oxyäthylen)-glykol und (b) Polyesterdiol zeigen dagegen
eine überraschend einzigartige Kombination von Eigenschaften wie ausgezeichnete Zugfestigkeit, hohe Reißfestigkeit,
hohe Dehnung, gute Hochtemperaturbeständigkeit und Niedertemperaturflexibilität, hohe Federkraft bzw. Elastizität,
ausgezeichnete Verarbeitbarkeit, gute Formbarkeit und Streichfähigkeit und die Ausgangsmaterialien sind bil-
20 lig. Erfindungsgemäße flexible Polyurethan-Thermoplaste
können glatt verarbeitet werden und sie sind leicht zu großen komplizierten Gegenständen formbar.
Die Härte der erfindungsgemäßen Elastomeren reicht von relativ weicheren Produkten von etwa 80 bis 90 Shore
A, was für Ohrenmarken, Beschichtungen usw. geeignet ist, bis zu relativ härteren Produkten von etwa AO bis 55 Shore
D mit Eignung für Kfz.-Anwendungen. (Die Härtewerte werden als Shore D gemessen, wenn auf der Shore A Skala
Werte über 90 erhalten werden; die Meßwerte werden als Shore A ausgedrückt, wenn Werte unter 20 auf der D Skala
erhalten werden.)
Für Beschichtungen und beschichtete Stoffe variiert das Molekulargewicht des Polyols üblicherweise im bereich
von 1000 bis 2000, da hier Formbarkeit und thermische

Beständigkeit nicht besonders gefragt sind.
Für Kfζ.-Anwendungen geeignete Elastomere gemäß der
Erfindung haben eine Dehnung von mehr als 300 %, eine Zugfestigkeit von zumindest 281,5 kg/cm (4000 psi) und
eine Form C Reißfestigkeit von zumindest 89,5 kg/cm (500 pli) (sowie eine Härte von AO bis 55 Shore D). E1Ur
Ohrenraarken, Beschichtungen usw. ist eine Härte von 80 bis 90 Shore A geeignet, während die anderen Eigenschaften
wie für Kfζ.-Anwendungen genannt sein können, obgleich
die Zugfestigkeit und Reißfestigkeit weniger kritisch sind.
15 Beispiel 1
Eine Mischung von 210 Teilen 2000 M Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol
mit 45 Gew.-% Äthylenoxidanteil (erhalten von Olin Corp.; EO-PPG) und 90 Teilen
2000 M Polycaprolactondiol (PCL; von Union Carbide Corp.) wurde 1 Stunde lang bei 1000C im Vakuum (etwa 3 Torr)
getrocknet. Die Polyolmischung wurde dann auf 1300C erhitzt
und unter Rühren mit 68 Teilen 1,4-Butandiol (Kettenverlängerer)
versetzt.
Zu 355 Teilen der Polyolmischung von 13O°C wurden 223 Teile 4,4!-Methylen-bis-(phenylisocynat) (MDl) hinzugegeben.
Die Reaktionsmischung wurde 20 bis 40 Sekunden lang gut gemischt und dann in eine 30,5 cm χ 30,5 cm
χ 1,3 cm offene Form gegossen und 20 Minuten lang bei 1630C gehärtet.
Das Äquivalentverhältnis von Polyolmischung/Kettenverlängerer/Diisocyanat
im endgültigen Polymeren lag bei

Das resultierende Polymere wurde dann zerschnitzelt, 2 Stunden, lang bei 1100C getrocknet und mit einer 14,2 g
Newbury^ Spritzgußmaschine bei einer Zylinder- und Düsentemperatur
von 2000C bis 2100C zu Platten von 7,6 cm χ
10,16 cm χ 2,03 mm geformt.
Elastomere B bis G wurden wie bei der Herstellung von Elastomerem A beschrieben mit unterschiedlichen Mischungen
hergestellt. Elastomere H und I wurden ähnlich hergestellt, jedoch auf der Basis einer Polyolmischung
von willkürlichem Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol
(2000 M; Gewichtsverhältnis von Oxyäthylen zu Oxypropylen = 45 : 65)5 bei dem die Reaktionspartner Propylenoxid
und Äthylenoxid gemeinsam eingeführt worden waren (R-PPG) und von Polycaprolactondiol. Physikalische
Eigenschaften dieser Polymeren sind in Tabelle 1 zusammengefaßt. Zu Vergleichszwecken enthält die Tabelle 1
auch Werte für zwei nicht-erfindungsgemäße Elastomere J
und K. Das Elastomere J basiert lediglich auf dem in den Elastomeren A bis G angewandten Polyätherglykol, während
das Elastomere K lediglich auf dem in den Elastomeren A bis G angewandten Polyesterglykol basiert.
Bekanntlich besitzen Polyurethane auf Polyesterbasis ausgezeichnete Zugfestigkeiten, während auf Äthylenoxidpolypropylenglykol
basierende Materialien bedeutend schlechtere Zugfestigkeitseigenschaften aufweisen. Wenn die beiden
Materialien jedoch im erfindungsgemäßen Sinne in unterschiedlichen Verhältnissen miteinander vermischt angewandt
werden, nähern sich die Zugfestigkeitseigenschaften denjenigen von einem auf 100 % Polyester basierenden
Material; tatsächlich sind die Zugfestigkeitseigenschaften bei einer 50/50 Mischung um 10 % höher als beim Material
auf der Basis von 100 % Polyester und man erkennt so

eine völlig unerwartete, sehr überraschende synergistische Wirkung (wie insbesondere ein Vergleich des Elastomeren
P mit dem Elastomeren K zeigt).
Die vorstehenden Daten zeigen, daß die Elastomeren gemäß der Erfindung für Kfζ.-Anwendungen brauchbar sind,
insbesondere für flexible Außenkörperteile für Automobile einschließlich von Teilen, die mit energieabsorbierenden
Stoßstangen- bzw. Stoßaufnahmesystemen zusammenhängen, wie Sichtabdeckungen, Kotflügelverlängerungen und vollständige
stirnseitige Enden, da hierfür ein Material gebraucht wird, das (1.) unter Stoßwirkung nachgiebig
sein muß und dann zur ursprünglichen Gestalt zurückkehren soll; (2) von elastomerer Natur sein soll und (3)
eine Festigkeit besitzen muß,die durch eine hohe Zugfestigkeit und hohe Reißfestigkeit charakterisiert wird.
Im Gegensatz zu Beispiel 1 werden ausgehend von einer Reaktionsmischung, die ein Polypropylenglykol ohne
Oxyäthylengruppen, ein Polyesterdiol, ein Polyisocyanat und einen niedermolekularen Polyol-Kettenverlängerer
aufweist, keine befriedigenden Ergebnisse erzielt. Nach dem Ausgießen einer solchen Reaktionsmischung in eine
offene Form findet man, daß das resultierende Polymere wegen seiner zu schlechten physikalischen Eigenschaften
nicht spritzgießbar ist - woraus die Bedeutung der Anwesenheit von Oxyäthylengruppen im PPG-Polyol der Mischung
hervorgeht, wenn ein flexibles thermoplastisches Polyurethan mit hervorragenden physikalischen Eigenschaften,
ausgezeichneter Verarbeitbarkeit, guter Formbarkeit usw. erzielt werden soll. Um dies zu zeigen, wurde eine
Mischung von 150 Teilen 2000 M PPG und 150 Teilen 2000 M Polycaprolactondiol im Vakuum getrocknet. Die Polyolmischung
wurde dann auf 1300C erhitzt und unter Rühren mit
48,3 Teilen 1,4-Butandiol versetzt. Zu 320 Teilen der
Polyolmischung von 1450C wurden 165 Teile 4,4'-Methylen-

bis-(phenylisocyanat) hinzugegeben. Die Reaktionsmischung
wurde 1 Minute lang gut durchmischt und in eine 30,5 cm χ 30,5 cm χ 1,27 cm offene Form gegossen und 1 Stunde lang
bei 162,80C gehärtet. Das Polymere war nicht spritzgießbar.
Im übrigen erwies sich das gehärtete Polymere bei der Prüfung als von käsiger Beschaffenheit und es konnten
keine bedeutsamen physikalischen Eigenschaften beobachtet werden.
10 Beispiel 2
Eine Mischung von 36Ο Teilen 2000 M Polycaprolactondiol
(von der Union Carbide Corp.) und 240 Teilen eines 2000 M Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykols mit
45 Gew.% Äthylenoxidanteil wurde 1 Stunde lang im Vakuum
(etwa 3 Torr) bei 1000C getrocknet. Danach wurden 96,5
Teile 1,4-Butandiol hinzugegeben.

700 Teile der Polyolmischung von 1450C wurden dann
mit 338 Teilen 4,4f-Methylen-bis-(phenylisocyanat) versetzt.
Die Mischung wurde 0,5 bis 1,0 Minuten lang gut durchmischt und dann in eine 30,5 cm χ 30,5 cm χ 1,27 cm
offene Form gegossen und 1 Stunde lang bei 1630C gehärtet.
Das Verhältnis der Äquivalente von Polyolmischung/Kettenverlängerer/Diisocyanat im endgültigen Polymeren lag bei
1/3,5/4,5.
Die physikalischen Eigenschaften dieses Polymeren sind weiter unten zusammengefaßt, und zwar vor und nach
500stündiger Alterung durch Bewitterung und sie werden mit den Eigenschaften eines im Handel erhältlichen Polyurethanmaterials
auf der Basis von Polycaprolacton als
einzigem Makropolyol (Pellethane ^ 2102-80A von Upjohn Co.)
verglichen, das für Vieh-Ohrenmarken brauchbar ist. Der

Vergleich läßt erkennen, daß das erfindungsgemäße Produkt zumindest vergleichbar mit dem handelsüblichen Material
oder besser ist, wobei jedoch die Kosten niedriger sind.

Die Reaktionsmischung wurde 20 Sekunden lang gemischt und 1 Stunde lang bei 165°C gehärtet.

Das Verhältnis der Äquivalente von Polyolmischung/ Kettenverlängerer/Diisocyanat im endgültigen Polymeren
lag bei 1/3/4.
Die physikalischen Eigenschaften des Polymeren sind in der nachfolgenden Tabelle wiedergegeben; solche Polymeren
finden für Beschichtungszwecke Anwendung.

Claims (5)
- Patentansprüche( 1/ Thermoplastisches Polyurethanelastomeres, gekennzeichnet durch ein Reaktionsprodukt von:(a) Poly(oxypropylen)-poly(oxyäthylen)-glykol mit einem Molekulargewicht von 1000 bis 3000 und mit einem Gewichtsanteil von 25 bis 60 % Oxyäthylengruppen;(b) Polyesterpolyol mit einem Molekulargewicht von 1000 bis 3000;(c) Polyisocyanat aus der durch 2,4-Tolylendiisocyanat, Methylen-bis-(4-phenylisocyanat), 4,4'-Diisocyanatodicyclohexylmethan und Isophorondiisocyanat ge-25 bildeten Gruppe; und(d) einem niedermolekularen Polyol-Kettenverlängerer, wobei das Verhältnis von (a) zu (b) bei 10/90 bis 90/10 (in Gewicht), das Molverhältnis von (d) zu(a) + (b) bei 3:1 bis 10:1 und das NCO/OH Äquivalentverhältnis bei 0,95:1 bis 1,10:1 liegt und das Elastomere eine Härte von 80 Shore A bis 55 Shore D, eine Dehnung von mehr als 300 %, eine Zugfestigkeit von zumindest 281,5 kg/cm und eine Form C Reißfe-35 stigkeit von zumindest 89,5 kg/cm hat.V 809882/0676 ORIGINAL INSPECTEDDeutsche Bank (München) Kto. 51/61070 Dresdner Bank (München) Kto. 3939 844 Postscheck (München) Klo 670-43-804B 8962
- 2. Elastomer nach Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet durch eine Härte von 40 bis 55 Shore D.
- 3. Elastomeres nach Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet durch eine Härte von 80 bis 90 Shore A.
- 4. Thermoplastisches Polyurethanelastomeres nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Molekulargewicht von (a) bei 2000 und der Oxyäthylengruppengehalt10 bei 30 bis 50 % liegt, (b) durch Polycaprolactondiolmit einem Molekulargewicht von 2000, (c) durch Methylenbls-(4-phenylisocyanat) und (d) durch 1,4-Butandiol gebildet wird, wobei das Verhältnis von (a) zu (b) bei 80/20 bis 40/60 (in Gewicht) und das NCO/OH Äquivalent-15 verhältnis bei 1,00:1 bis 1,05:1 liegt.
