Description

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verbindungsstück am Ende einer Schlauchleitung zur Ausbildung einer Fluidverbindung zwischen dieser und einer anderen Leitung.
Die Notwendigkeit für die Herstellung einer sterilen, abgedichteten Verbindung zwischen zwei Schlauchleitungen ergibt sich speziell auf dem Gebiet der Blut- und Blutkomponentenhandhabung sowie auf anderen Gebieten, wo eine sterile Verbindung zwischen zwei Behältern wünschenswert ist. Bei der Behandlung oder Verarbeitung von Blut kann es sich als wünschenswert erweisen, zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt nur eine Hälfte der in einem Beutel oder dergleichen befindlichen Bluteinheit zu benutzen. In diesem Fall wird üblicherweise der nicht benutzte Teil der Bluteinheit innerhalb eines Tages nach dem Öffnen des Beutels weggeworfen, auch wenn versucht wurde, die Sterilität unter Anwendung üblicher bewährter Verfahren zur Ermöglichung eines aseptischen Zugangs zum Blutbeutel zu erhalten. Dies ist darauf zurückzuführen, daß sich ein oder zwei aus der Luft eingeschleppte Bakterien, wenn diesen eine Vermehrungszeitspanne von mehr als nur einigen Stunden zur Verfügung steht, in dem aufbewahrten Blut derart vermehren können, daß sich die Gefahr für eine Sepsis ergibt, wenn das Blut anschließend einem Patienten verabreicht wird.
Zur Vermeidung dieser Gefahr wird in der älteren DE-OS 28 45 602 ein Verbindungsstück der genannten Art vorgeschlagen, welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß es gehäuseartig ausgebildet und aus für Strahlungsenergie transparentem Material hergestellt ist und daß an einer Seite des Gehäuses ein undurchsichtiger Wandabschnitt dichtend eingefügt, insbesondere eingeschweißt, ist, welcher unter Einfluß von Strahlungsenergie derart schmelzbar ist, daß eine Öffnung entsteht. Durch die vorgeschlagene Ausbildung der Schlauchleitungen im Verbindungsbereich und die Aufbringung von Strahlungswärme an der Verbindungsstelle läßt sich eine definierte und hochgradig sterile Fluidverbindung zwischen Schlauchleitungen herstellen. Aufgrund des durch Strahlungsenergie bewirkten Schmelzvorgangs derart, daß sich unter Zusammenziehen des aufgeschmolzenen Materials eine definierte zentrale Öffnung bildet, werden etwa an den aneinanderliegenden Außenflächen der miteinander zu verbindenden Schlauchleitungen vorhandenen Bakterien von der Schmelzmasse eingeschlossen und abgetötet, zumal die Schmelztemperatur bei den vorgeschlagenen Materialien im Bereich von 220 bis 250°C liegt.
Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt nun die Aufgabe zugrunde, das in der DE-OS 28 45 602 vorgeschlagene Verbindungsstück dahingehend zu verbessern, daß bei zum Beispiel schon angeschlossenem Blutbeutel kein Blut zum undurchsichtigen Wandabschnitt gelangt, bevor nicht dieser unter Ausbildung eines Strömungsdurchgangs mit einem entsprechenden Wandabschnitt eines angekoppelten Verbindungsstücks derselben Art aufgeschmolzen ist. Dabei ist von Bedeutung, daß die Herstellung des Strömungsdurchgangs zum Verbindungsstück ohne Kontaminationsgefahr von außen her erreicht werden kann.
Diese Aufgabe wird bei dem Verbindungsstück gemäß dem Oberbegriff des Anspruches 1 durch die kennzeichnenden Merkmale des Patentanspruches 1 gelöst.
Durch die erfindungsgemäße Ausbildung des Verbindungsstücks werden also zum einen die erwähnten Vorteile der Konstruktion nach der DE-OS 28 45 602 erzielt und zum anderen die Möglichkeit geschaffen, daß bei am Verbindungsstück angeschlossener Schlauchleitung kontaminationsfrei ein Strömungsdurchgang zum Verbindungsstück bzw. zum Inneren desselben erhalten wird.
Bevorzugte konstruktive Details des erfindungsgemäß ausgebildeten Verbindungsstücks sind in den Unteransprüchen beschrieben.
Im folgenden ist ein Ausführungsbeispiel eines erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungsstücks sowie einer damit hergestellten Schlauchverbindung anhand der beigefügten Zeichnung näher erläutert.
Es zeigen:

In den Fig. 1 bis 6 sind Verbindungsstücke 60, 62 zur Herstellung einer Schlauchkupplung dargestellt, die jeweils ein transparentes bzw. für Strahlungsenergie durchlässiges, einen Innenraum 94 begrenzendes Gehäuse 64 umfassen. Ein Teil der Gehäusewandung besteht aus einem undurchsichtigen bzw. Strahlungsenergie absorbierenden Wandabschnitt 66, der längs seines Umfanges in eine entsprechende Gehäuseöffnung dichtend eingefügt und mit dieser verschweißt ist. Die Gehäuse 64 der Verbindungsstücke 60, 62 sind so zusammensetzbar, daß die Strahlungsenergie absorbierenden Wandabschnitte 66 gemäß Fig. 3 in Flächenberührung miteinander stehen und unter Herstellung einer Abdichtung fest gegeneinander gehalten werden. Wenn die miteinander verbundenen Gehäuse sodann auf die in der eingangs genannten Patentschrift beschriebene Weise mit Strahlungsenergie behandelt werden, können sich die in Flächenberührung miteinander stehenden undurchsichtigen bzw. Strahlungsenergie absorbierenden Wandabschnitte unter Bildung einer Öffnung durch sie hindurch miteinander verschmelzen.
Die Strahlungsenergie absorbierenden Wandabschnitte 66 bestehen vorzugsweise aus einem organischen thermoplastischen Material mit hohem Schmelz- oder Erweichungspunkt, so daß etwa auf den Außenflächen dieser Wandabschnitte befindliche Bakterien beim Erwärmen derselben auf Schmelz- oder Erweichungstemperatur abgetötet und in die Schmelzmasse eingekapselt werden. Insbesondere können die Wandabschnitte 66 aus einem Polycarbonat oder aus beliebigen anderen hochschmelzenden Thermoplasten hergestellt sein. Im allgemeinen enthalten sie ein Füllmaterial, wie pulverisierte Holzkohle, Aktivkohle oder Ruß, welches die Absorption von Strahlungsenergie fördert.
Die Gehäuse 64 bestehen aus einem durchsichtigen bzw. für Strahlungsenergie durchlässiges Kunststoffmaterial mit hohem Schmelzpunkt.
An Strahlungsenergie kann je nach Wunsch sichtbare Strahlung, Infrarot-, Ultraviolett- oder Hochfrequenzenergie benutzt werden. Der Ausdruck "undurchsichtig" bedeutet, daß die betreffenden Wandabschnitte einen hohen Prozentsatz der auftreffenden Strahlungsenergie zu absorbieren vermögen. Der Ausdruck "durchsichtig" bzw. "transparent" weist darauf hin, daß von dem betreffenden Werkstoff ein geringerer Prozentsatz der Strahlungsenergie absorbiert wird. Vorteilhaft wird gebündelte Infrarotstrahlungsenergie angewandt. Zur Lieferung der Strahlungsenergie können gewünschtenfalls auch Laser-Vorrichtungen eingesetzt werden.
Die Wandabschnitte 66 können durch uniaxiale oder biaxiale Orientierung oder mit radialen Spannungsmustern vorgespannt sein, um beim Aufschmelzen die Entstehung einer zentralen Öffnung zu begünstigen. Ebenso können auch nichtvorgespannte Wandabschnitte verwendet werden, bei denen sich die zentrale Öffnung durch Kohäsion bei der Schmelzverflüssigung bildet.
Die beiden Verbindungsstücke 60, 62 weisen jeweils Spannelemente zum gegenseitigen Verspannen der Gehäuse 64 auf. Diese Spannelemente umfassen diametral angeordnete Spannarme 68 an einem ersten Ende 70 eines jeden Gehäuses 64, die eine Führung 72 zur Aufnahme eines Flansches 74 des jeweiligen anzuschließenden Verbindungsstücks bilden. An einem zweiten Ende 76 jedes Gehäuses 64 sind einander gegenüberliegende Flansche 74 ausgebildet, die zur gegenseitigen Verbindung der beiden Verbindungsstücke 60, 62 mit einer Schiebebewegung in Spanneingriff mit einer zugeordneten Führung 72 bringbar sind, so daß die beiden undurchsichtigen bzw. Strahlungsenergie absorbierenden Wandabschnitte 66 gemäß Fig. 3 flächig aneinander anliegen.
Weiterhin sind Arretier- oder Sicherungsmittel 78, 80 vorgesehen, so daß die beiden Verbindungsstücke 60, 62, wenn sie einmal zu einer Schlauchkupplung zusammengesetzt worden sind, nur mit Schwierigkeiten voneinander getrennt werden können. Dementsprechend verbleiben sie sicher in ihrem betrieblich verbundenen Zustand. Jedes Verbindungsstück 60, 62 ist mit einem angeformten Anschlußstutzen 84 versehen, dessen Achse bei der dargestellten Ausführungsform einen spitzen Winkel mit der Ebene des zugeordneten Wandabschnitts 66 bildet. Wie dargestellt, weist das äußere Ende des Stutzens 84 einen eine Strömung durch diesen verhindernden Wandteil 86 mit einer verdünnten, insbesondere ringförmigen Sollbruchstelle 88 auf. Von dem genannten Wandteil 86 steht ein stabartiges Betätigungselement 90 nach außen ab. Wenn dieses Betätigungselement 90 von Hand abgebogen wird, wird der die Strömung verhindernde Wandteil 86 unter Öffnung des Stutzens 84 aufgebrochen.
Jeder Anschlußstutzen 84 kann unter Abdichtung in das offene Ende einer biegsamen Schlauchleitung 36 a eingeführt werden, die ihrerseits mit einem verschlossenen Behälter, etwa einem Blutbeutel, verbunden ist. Durch manuellen Angriff an der Schlauchleitung 36 a und am Betätigungselement 90 können somit die die Strömung verhindernden Wandteile bzw. Verschlußwände 86 der Anschlußstutzen 84 aufgebrochen und damit die Verbindungsstücke 60, 62 nach dem Zusammensetzen zu einer Kupplung (Fig. 3) geöffnet werden.
Wenn beide Verbindungsstücke an ihren Anschlußstutzen aufbrechbare Verschlußwände 86 aufweisen, ist es häufig wünschenswert, vor der Bestrahlung einen dieser Verschlußwände bzw. Bruchverschlüsse zu öffnen. Dabei dehnt sich unter der Erwärmung bei der Bestrahlung die im geschlossenen Raum 94 innerhalb des Gehäuses 64 und des Anschlußstutzens 84 eingeschlossene Luft aus, so daß ein Druckgefälle über die Wandabschnitte 66 entsteht. Hierdurch wird das Öffnen der Wandabschnitte 66 beim Erweichen und Schmelzen derselben begünstigt, so daß eine sterile, dichte Verbindung zwischen den beiden Verbindungsstücken 60, 62 entsteht.
Gewünschtenfalls braucht nur eines der Verbindungsstücke mit der erwähnten Verschlußwand 86 und einem zugeordneten Betätigungselement 90 versehen zu sein. Beispielsweise brauchen diese Teile für einen leeren Blutbeutel nicht vorgesehen zu sein, während bei Anschluß an einen Blutbeutel zur Aufnahme von Blut von einem Spender die erwähnte Verschlußwand vorhanden sein sollte, um einen Austritt von Blut bis zum Wandabschnitt 66 während der Lagerung zu verhindern.
Das stabartige Betätigungselement 90 kann am Ende einen diametralen Schlitz 92 aufweisen. Nach dem Abbrechen des Betätigungselements 90 kann dessen geschlitztes Ende in einen verengten Abschnitt 94 der Schlauchleitung 36 a eingepreßt werden, um das Betätigungselement 90 vom aufgebrochenen Verschluß 86 wegzuhalten, so daß eine Blockierung des Durchgangs verhindert wird. Der Schlitz 92 ermöglicht in diesem Falle eine Strömung durch den verengten Schlauchabschnitt 94 hindurch, obwohl in diesem das Betätigungselement 92 verankert ist.

Verbindungsstück am Ende einer Schlauchleitung zur Ausbildung einer Fluidverbindung zwischen dieser und einer anderen Leitung, wobei das Verbindungsstück (60, 62) gehäuseartig ausgebildet und aus für Strahlungsenergie durchlässigem Material hergestellt ist, und wobei an einer Seite des Gehäuses (64) ein Strahlungsenergie absorbierender Wandabschnitt (66) dichtend eingefügt, insbesondere eingeschweißt ist, welcher unter Einfluß von Strahlungsenergie derart schmelzbar ist, daß eine Öffnung entsteht, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß in das Innere (94) des Gehäuses (64) ein Anschlußstutzen (84) mit einem eine Strömung durch diesen verhindernden Wandteil (86) mündet, welches durch ein an diesem angeordnetes stabartiges Betätigungselement (90) unter Herstellung eines Strömungsdurchganges aufbrechbar ist.
2. Verbindungsstück nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß jeder Strahlungsenergie absorbierende Wandabschnitt (66) einen spitzen Winkel mit der Achse des betreffenden, jeweils durch den in das Gehäuseinnere (94) mündenden Anschlußstutzen (84) definierten Strömungsdurchganges festlegt.
3. Verbindungsstücke nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Achse des jedem Gehäuse zugeordneten Anschlußstutzens parallel zur Ebene des undurchsichtigen Wandabschnitts verläuft.

Verbindungsstück nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß am Gehäuse (64) Spannmittel zum Zusammenkuppeln von zwei jeweils am Ende einer Schlauchleitung (36 a) angeordneten Verbindungsstücken (60, 62) vorgesehen sind, daß die Spannmittel jeweils eine Führung festlegende Spannarme (68) sowie in die durch die Spannarme festgelegten Führungen eingeführbare Flansche (74) umfassen, wobei die Spannarme (68) jeweils an einem Ende (70) jedes Gehäuses (64) und die Flansche (74) jeweils am anderen Ende (76) jedes Gehäuses (64) angeordnet sind, derart, daß die Flansche (74) jedes Gehäuses (64) mit einer Schiebebewegung in Eingriff mit der Führung (72) der Spannarme (68) des jeweils anderen Gehäuses einrastbar sind, um die beiden Gehäuse (64) mit den in Flächenberührung miteinander stehenden, Strahlungsenergie absorbierenden Wandabschnitten (66) in abgedichtetem Einrastzustand zu halten.
5. Verbindungsstück nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Flansche (74) und die von den Spannarmen (68) gebildeten Führungen (72) in einer Ebene liegen, die parallel zur Ebene der flächig aneinander liegenden, Strahlungsenergie absorbierenden Wandabschnitte (66) verläuft.
6. Verbindungsstück nach Anspruch 4 oder 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß je zwei einander gegenüberstehende Spannarme (68) eines Verbindungsstückes (60, 62) zur Festlegung einer Flanschführung (72) vorgesehen sind.
7. Verbindungsstück nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Flansche (74) jeweils zwei gradlinige Flanschkanten umfassen.
8. Verbindungsstück nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß zumindest ein Teil des jedem Gehäuse (64) zugeordnetem Anschlußstutzens (84) unter Abdichtung in das offene Ende einer biegsamen Schlauchleitung (36 a) einführbar ist, derart, daß auch das stabartige Betätigungselement (90) umschlossen wird, wobei durch entsprechende Handhabung der Schlauchleitung (36 a), nämlich Abbiegen derselben, im Bereich des stabartigen Betätigungselements (90) das die Strömung verhindernde Wandteil (86) unter Herstellung eines Strömungsdurchganges aufbrechbar ist.
9. Verbindungsstück nach einem oder mehreren der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das aufbrechbare Wandteil (86) um das stabartige Betätigungselement (90) herum eine ringförmige Sollbruchstelle (88) aufweist.
