Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a galvanizing device for Plate-shaped to be treated in the horizontal pass Workpieces, especially circuit boards, with at least an upper one arranged above the continuous path Anode and at least one below the continuous path arranged lower anode.
Such an electroplating device is from the DE-A 32 36 545 known. The one described there The plate-shaped workpieces become hori guided through an electrolyte bath. The feed of the plate-shaped workpieces are driven Contact wheels arranged on one side in the bathroom and at the same time the cathodic contacting of the Take over workpieces. On the against the contact wheels overlying side is for guiding and holding the Workpieces have a special sliding attachment in the bathroom arranges. With the anodes arranged in the electrolyte bath are soluble anode rods that run across Continuous path aligned and both above and are arranged below the continuous path.
But it will also be another technique for building of the anodes, in which both the upper Anodes as well as the lower anodes by titanium baskets which are the soluble anode material in the form of Balls included. A replacement of those in the titanium baskets Ordered balls will be much easier viewed as replacing the possibly uncomfortable arranged anode rods. Due to the symmetrical arrangement the anode rods or the titanium baskets to both Sides of the continuous path should be as equal as possible moderate layer thickness distribution of the Workpieces of deposited metal can be reached. Especially in the galvanic treatment of lei terplatten are the spread of the layer thickness, the Layer thickness distribution over the plate surface and the layer thickness distribution in the bores of size ter meaning.
The invention has for its object in a gal Vanisiereinrichtung of the type mentioned the Scatter the layer thickness and reduce the layer further improve thickness distribution.
This object is achieved by a soluble top anode with on a screen or grid-shaped carrier arranged, soluble anodes material and an insoluble lower anode.
The invention is based on the knowledge that the Using soluble anode rods the distance between anode and workpiece inevitably with the Ver need to change the anode material. In contrast this happens when using anode baskets or The same only for the lower anode, since the upper anode the soluble anode material always in constant distance to the continuous work pieces on the sieve or grid-shaped basket bottom lies. If you combine such an upper anode with an insoluble bottom anode, so with regard to on the control of the layer thickness and the layer thicknesses optimal distribution on the surface of the workpieces Conditions reached.
Another advantage of the combination according to the invention of upper soluble anode and lower insoluble anode consists in the soluble in the upper anode Anode material easily refilled or replaced can be, while the lower and much more difficult easily accessible anode insoluble and therefore maintenance-free is.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention between the sieve or lattice-shaped carrier and the soluble anode material arranged a fleece. One of the like fleece, the electrolyte exchange is only insignificant hindered, prevents the remains of the used anode material and the passage itself possibly forming anode sludge.
Furthermore, it is advantageous if the screen or grid shaped carrier is designed as a basket. Through one of the The Ano can then be designed as an anode basket the material may also be spread out in several layers will.
It is also useful if the sieve or lattice The carrier is made of titanium. Titan has been with others Ren plating equipment as material for anodes baskets have proven to be excellent because they cannot be solved.
According to a further particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the lower anode has a screen or lattice-like structure. This will make the electro ly exchange favors and if necessary an inflow to the plant pieces by arranged below the lower anode Allows surge nozzles.
If the lower anode is made of platinum-plated titanium, he says gives itself to a small compared to pure platinum Cost a very small contact resistance.
With regard to an even distribution of layer thickness it has proven to be particularly advantageous sets when the top anode and the bottom anode at least approximately parallel to the continuous path of the plant pieces are aligned.
Another improvement in the layer thickness distribution can also be achieved in that the width of the upper anode and the lower anode at least approximately corresponds to the width of the workpieces to be treated.
Es zeigtAn embodiment of the invention is in the drawing shown and will be described in more detail below ben. It shows

Fig. 1 shows the basic principle of a modular continuous-flow system for through-contacting and electroplating of printed circuit boards. The printed circuit boards labeled Lp are entered into an inlet Ef , then pass through modules M 1 to M 5 arranged one after the other in order to then leave the continuous system again via an outlet labeled Af in the direction of the pipe Pf 1 .
The entire continuous system consists of three types of basic modules. In Fig. 1 with the modules M 1 to M 5 only some of the modules actually used in practice are shown.
Each of the modules M 1 to M 5 consists of a drip pan Aw , a treatment cell Bz , the transport system for the circuit boards Lp and a reservoir Vb for the treatment liquid used in each case.
Die Einstellung der je weils gewünschten Durchflußmenge erfolgt dabei über ein in der Steigleitung Sl angeordnetes Ventil V.Each drip pan Aw is arranged on a base frame G and closed to the outside by a cover D. The associated treatment cell Bz with the required transport rollers Tp and squeeze rollers Aq provided on the inlet and outlet side is then arranged in the collecting trough Aw . The collected in the collecting trough Aw treatment liquid is returned to the supply tank arranged underneath Vb via a drain line Al. The treatment liquid is pumped up into the treatment cell Bz via a submersible pump Tp arranged in the mobile reservoir Vb and a riser S1 . The setting of the desired flow rate is done via a valve V arranged in the riser S1 .
As already mentioned, a continuous system consists of three types of basic modules. The spray modules have the task of preventing the introduction of treatment liquids into the subsequent baths. For this purpose, nozzle sticks are arranged in the collecting trough above and below the continuous path. The amounts of detergent in the upper and lower nozzle systems can be regulated separately using valves. The squeeze rollers Aq already mentioned, which are arranged in pairs on the inlet side and outlet side, prevent the washing-up liquid and treatment liquid from mixing. Further details on such spray modules can be found, for example, in DE-C 30 11 061.
The chemical types are the second type of basic module to name action modules, for example for the electroless copper plating on the plate surfaces and in the via holes are used. Here a flood register ensures an even through flooding through all via holes and one uniform flow onto the entire plate surface.
Finally, as a third type of basic module, galvanizing modules are used, which are to be explained below with reference to the galvanizing device shown in FIGS . 2 and 3.
Fig. 2). Die Höhe des Wehres Wh definiert somit den Pegelstand der Elektrolytlösung El in der Behandlungszelle Bz.In Fig. 2, the basic principle of an electroplating device according to the Invention is shown. The drip pan Aw is provided with a drain connection As , via which the electrolyte solution El collected is guided in the direction of arrow Pf 2 into the associated storage container Vb (cf. FIG. 2). In the treatment cell Bz arranged inside the collecting pan Aw , a side wall is designed as a weir Wh , over which the electrolyte solution El flows in the direction of the arrow Pf 3 . The height of the weir Wh thus defines the level of the electrolyte solution El in the treatment cell Bz .
The individual to be electroplated printed circuit boards Lp are cathodically contacted on both sides and is guided on a horizontal passage path through the electrolyte solution El. In a short distance above the throughput path of the circuit boards Lp a horizontally oriented upper anode Ao is arranged, which comprises a basket Kb and arranged therein in a layer or in several layers Anodenma consists TERIAL Am. The bottom of the basket Kb, which is made entirely of titanium, is made of expanded metal and forms a support Tr for the anode material Am which is slightly permeable to the electrolytic solution El . Between this carrier Tr and the anode material, a nonwoven Vl is arranged, for example, is made of polypropylene and residual retains the anode material Am and any applicable anode mud. In the present case, the anode material Am is copper balls, which are often also referred to as Cu pellets. It can easily be seen that copper balls of this type can be easily replaced or refilled after opening the cover D (see FIG. 1).
At a short distance below the path of the circuit board Lp is also a horizontally aligned lower anode Au is arranged, which is designed as an expanded metal screen and consists of platinized titanium. The lower anode Au is therefore an insoluble anode, the distance to the path of the printed circuit boards Lp remains constant. The design as an expanded metal screen prevents the electrolyte exchange and the flow of the electrolyte solution El from being impeded.
Fig. 3 zeigt in einer teilweisen aufgebrochenen perspek tivischen Darstellung weitere Einzelheiten der Galvani sierung. Fig. 3 shows in a partially broken perspective representation further details of the electroplating. It can be seen that the two end walls of the collecting trough Aw are provided at the level of the continuous path with slots Sz , which allow the passage of Lei terplatten Lp . The interior between the lid D (see FIG. 1) and the collecting trough Aw is provided on one side with a suction Ag , which is connected to a central suction device for generating a negative pressure in this space. Below the suction Ag a drivable in the direction of arrow Pf 4 and arranged in the longitudinal direction drive shaft Aw can be seen, which drives the transport rollers Tr and the lower squeeze rollers Aq via correspondingly arranged bevel gears Kr .
Fig. 1) hochgepumpten Elektrolytlösung El (vgl. The supply of the electrolyte solution El pumped up from the storage container Vb (cf. FIG. 1) (cf. FIG. 2) takes place via a supply nozzle Zs merging into the treatment cell Bz , as indicated by the arrow Pf 5 . The supply of the electrolytic solution El is dimensioned such that through the through holes Dk of the printed circuit boards Lp there is an upward flow and indicated by the arrows Pf 6 . This distinctive flow ensures high-quality galvanic reinforcement of the vias. The electrolytic solution El then flows through the upper anode Ao and partly flows in the direction of the arrows Pf 3 over the weir Wh into the collecting pan Aw .
The cathodic contacting of the circuit boards Lp is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 by sliding contacts Sk arranged on both sides, which are protected by seals, not shown, from access to the electrolyte solution. More suitable than such sliding contacts Sk are contacting terminals running in the direction of passage, which grip the printed circuit boards Lp on both sides and possibly also drive the printed circuit boards Lp in the area of the treatment cell Bz .
In the above-described electroplating device, the width of the upper anode Ao and the lower anode Au was chosen so that it approximately corresponds to the width of the printed circuit boards Lp to be galvanized or the width of a panel with several printed circuit boards. The distances between the upper anode Ao and the printed circuit boards Lp and between the lower anode Au and the printed circuit boards Lp should be as small as possible. Due to the combination of soluble upper anode Ao and insoluble lower anode Au , the respective distances can be less than 10 mm, for example. The upper anode Ao and the lower anode Au are controlled via separate rectifiers, so that the galvanizing conditions on the top and bottom of the plate can be influenced separately. Furthermore, it has proven advantageous to provide a plurality of upper anodes Ao arranged one behind the other and a plurality of lower anodes Au likewise arranged one behind the other in the direction of passage. Through these measures, lower values can be set for the incoming current than for the actual electroplating current.
