Abstract

The invention concerns a nitrite-free wet dressing agent for preventing the contamination of rollers and corrosion of the rolled sheet, the dressing agent containing a carboxylic acid and an amine, characterized in that the nitrite-free aqueous wet dressing agent consists of at least 2-20 % by wt of a monovalent with 6-20 C-atoms or a divalent with 4-12 C-atoms aliphatic and/or aromatic and/or arylaliphatic carboxylic acid, 0-10 % by wt of boric acid, 0.1-10 % by wt of an N-acylated derivative of N-methylglycine of the general formula (I) in which R = a saturated or unsaturated C11-C19 alkyl group and M = H, Li, Na, K, ammonium or alkanolammonium, 0-5 % by wt of a water-hardness-complexing agent, 0-0.5 % by wt of a perfuming agent, an amine which forms a salt with said carboxylic acid in aqueous solution and which is added in a quantity such that the pH-value is between 8 and 11, the remainder consisting of water. The invention also concerns a process for finishing steel strip, using this aqueous wet dressing agent.

Description

The invention relates to nitrite-free aqueous wet dressing agents for Prevention of roller contamination and corrosion of the re-rolled (trained) sheet metal, as well as a method for re-rolling Of steel strip using this agent.

After cold rolling steel strip in the presence of rolling oil emulsions the thickness obtained is reduced and hard as rolled Annealed sheet metal to give it a certain softness. The desired processing properties around this soft sheet to lend, it must then be re-rolled. This process step serves to generate a defined one Roughness on the sheet surface, improving the Flatness and the suppression of the formation of flow figures of storage.

The wet dressing agent used is intended to deposit dirt prevent the so-called tapering on the rollers and provide some lubrication. Another essential  The requirement is that the wrapped in the tape when rolled up still existing aqueous solution no corrosion or discoloration of the sheet.

Bisher verwendete Naßdressiermittel enthalten meist anorganisches Nitrit, vielfach in Kombination mit Alkanolaminen, wie z. B. Mono-, Di- oder Triethanolamin.Wet dressing agents used up to now mostly contain inorganic Nitrite, often in combination with alkanolamines, such as e.g. B. mono-, di- or triethanolamine.

Die korrosionsinhibierende Wirkung wird hierbei im wesentlichen dem Natriumnitrit zugeschrieben.WO 81/00 579 describes a mixture of inorganic nitrite, the Sodium salt of benzoic acid, sodium carbonate and optionally a glycol. The corrosion-inhibiting effect is here essentially attributed to sodium nitrite.

JP-1 09 780 beschreibt ein Naßdressiermittel aus einer substituierten Benzoesäure, einem primären Amin und einer Carbonsäure.JP-1 09 780 describes a wet dressing agent made from a substituted one Benzoic acid, a primary amine and a carboxylic acid.

A mixture containing alkanolamine is known from JP-0 46 719, which does not contain sodium nitrite.

The wet dressing agent, which is described in JP 57 151 700 is described. An essential part is here a partial ester or salt of a dicarboxylic acid with an oxyalkylated Amine.

So it is nitrite-containing, but amine-free or nitrite-free, but amine-containing mixtures, the latter often from alkanolamine salts of aromatic or aliphatic mono- and dicarboxylic acids and their derivatives.

For reasons of environmental protection and occupational hygiene agents containing nitrite undesirable. Are particularly critical here however combinations of nitrite and amines due to the danger nitrosamine formation. Because the wet dessant to use be sprayed onto the metal sheet, which is in the Distribute the surrounding air in the form of a fine mist  (Aerosol formation), they can be inhaled by the operating personnel will.

The nitrite-free solutions, however, are not able to Adequate corrosion protection is provided on wet wound tapes to guarantee.

The task arises from the circumstances described to provide nitrite-free wet dressing which, with regard to its corrosion-inhibiting effect during storage of strip steel is not inferior to the nitrite-containing mixtures. At the same time, the roller should avoid contamination or deposits be kept free. The mixtures obtained should also physiologically harmless and for use in one process be suitable for rolling steel strip.
