Abstract

A joint between the ends of conveyor belts (2, 3) is described which allows greater transfer of loads between the load bearing layer in each belt (2, 3) and ensures a shorter overall joint. Normal loads are transferred by conventional finger spliced (5) ends in each belt (2, 3) while higher loads are resisted by a stitched cord (7) or fabric, the filaments of which pass thorugh holes arranged in rows (4) in the load bearing layer of each belt (2, 3). USE/ADVANTAGE - The joint design is suitable for conveyor belts mfrd in rubber, PVC etc and gives improved strength to finer spliced joints yet is shorter. (Dwg.1/1)

Description

The invention relates to a connection system for conveying belts made of rubber, PVC or the like, the connecting effect predominantly turned on when connecting brought adhesives and train transmission elements achieved becomes.

Which come into play when making the connections the variants are so-called finger splices with tissue covering in lengths of up to several meters for insert straps, or Connections with butted or overlapped tension members with possibly inserted intermediate tension beam for two and multi-layer belts. All connections have in common that they are only a fraction of the belt fatigue strength pass. The connection failure due to overuse starts very well with connections made correctly often at the outer ends of the link and always wanders further into the connection. In addition, they are often finger splice connections several meters long because of their Length difficult to manufacture and require large ones Vulcanizing equipment, which is a considerable effort has the consequence.

The invention has for its object the known To improve the finger splice connection in such a way that the Connection with a significantly shorter version at least is equally resilient.

The solution to the problem is that the additional pulling force introduced into the connection transmission elements the ends of the traction transmission elements are mechanically connected to the belt tension member. Thus the critical point of the connection becomes like this assured that it can transmit additional forces and thus a shorter connection is possible.

In a further development of the invention, the tensile force is transmitted a single cord in corresponding dimensions nation and in the required density, which instead of the covering fabric is sewn over the fingers or a covering fabric applied on both sides, the single warp threads are sewn into the tension member.

The sewing is advantageously carried out so that in one According to the distance from the finger feet, thin holes in the Belt body are introduced through which the tensile Threads of the additional fabric chain are guided. The holes are advantageously arranged in several lines, so that the tension member cross section of the belt is not too much is weakened. The other connecting elements can as with conventional finger splices.

The traction is transmitted in the invention Connection with normal loading of the connection as with known finger splice. At high load on the connection becomes a part of the forces over the covering threads or covering fabric on the form-fitting implementation of the threads introduced into the belt body through the belt core. Here is the high metal hook for the system according to the invention strength of the conveyor belts used today of great  Benefit, the large distance of the cord feed-through hole from the finger base in combination with the high hook strength combing the cords almost completely.

Another benefit of carrying the cover fabric threads through the belt core is that partial failures of the conventional Connecting part through the safer power transmission partial additional burdens transferred much better can be.

The invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing.

The selected embodiment is the version in which a cord ( 1 ) is sewn via the connection ( 7 ). The two belt ends 2 , 3 are already fingered ( 5 ), and in this embodiment each are drilled in two rows ( 4 ). Between the cord 1 and the belt body and between the fingers is an adhesive system ( 6 ), which ensures a force transmission between the finger area and cord even outside the holes.

In this embodiment, the finger length is 300 mm and the total connection length 500 mm, it is So with relatively little effort and small device producible.

The entire connection area is the same as the previous one System covered with a cover plate.
