Description
Leather adhesion and preservation oil It has been found that liquid triaryl phosphates, e.g. B. liquid tricresyl phosphates or their mixtures or the mixed esters, as they can be obtained according to patents 348 628 and 348 629 , are particularly advantageous as an adhesion oil and preservative for leather straps and other leather goods. The advantages of their use compared to the usual agents are mainly their chemical indifference and purity, the lack of any tar and sulfur content, the resistance to atmospheric oxygen, the high flame and fire point, which guarantees that the leather goods are permanently elastic and supple can be. While oils and fats containing unsaturated compounds are oxidized to adhere to the leather, it is surprising that the triaryl phosphates, whose chemical indifference is known, nevertheless adhere so firmly to the leather and penetrate it in such a way that exudation does not take place Rather, the leather is preserved in a particularly advantageous manner by the triaryl phosphate which has penetrated.
