Abstract

An ear insert (5) of the behind-the-ear hearing aid (1) comprises an ear adaptor (7, 8) adapted to the contour of the inner auditory canal and a module shell (10) which can be inserted therein. The module shell (10) is closed in itself and contains arbitrary electrical and/or electromechanical components, for example a receiver (11) and a microphone (12). After insertion, the ear insert (5) largely disappears in the inner auditory canal and, as a result, is virtually invisible. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a behind-the-ear hearing device according to the preamble of claim 1.

A "behind-the-ear" hearing aid (BTE device) of the type mentioned at the outset is known from the advertising brochure "Hearing system" from Philips, in 1984, in which the earmold and the insertable plug-in part of the ear insert are relatively large in volume and thus both Insertion in the auditory canal is clearly visible to the outside.

A similar embodiment of a BTE device with a plug-in part for an earmold is known from DE-OS-35 02 178. Here too, the plug-in part is too large and clearly visible. A BTE device with outsourced acoustic transducers, but which is designed without a plug-in part, is still known from DE-OS 14 12 977.

The object of the present invention is to construct a behind-the-ear hearing device in which at least the earmold is no longer or hardly visible, and the end face of the plug-in part (module shell) is only slightly visible.

The object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

While in the hearing system of the prior art the plug-in part connected to the housing has essentially a cuboid shape, so that the recess in the earmold must also be cuboid-shaped, in the subject matter of the present invention the plug-in part (closed module shell) is already shaped in such a way that it is in a certain Measures to contour the inner ear canal of the patient ear is adapted. The remaining space between the actual contour of the inner auditory canal and the contour of the plug-in part is now only filled by an earmold, which is already substantially adapted to the contour of the inner auditory canal both in the outer contour and in the inner contour. In contrast to the hearing system of the prior art, the ear mold according to the invention takes up considerably less space than the plug-in part (module shell) which can be inserted into the recess of the ear mold. This has the advantage that both the earmold and the recess in the earmold and the plug-in part that can be inserted into the recess can also be optimally small, since they are optimally adapted to the contour of the inner auditory canal. After insertion, both the earmold and plug-in part (module shell) disappear much better in the inner auditory canal than in the prior art. While practically nothing of the inserted earmold can be seen anymore, the plug-in part only shows the end face of the plug-in part that is tiny compared to the previously tiny, smooth end of the inner auditory canal.

An in-the-ear hearing device which consists of a thin shell with an insertable, self-contained module shell, the inner contour of the thin shell essentially corresponding to the outer contour of the module shell, is e.g. previously known from DE-GM 85 18 681. In addition, as mentioned, this hearing aid is a complete in-the-ear modular device and not, as in the present invention, an ear insert with outsourced components, such as e.g. A behind-the-ear hearing aid.

Further advantages and details of the invention emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing and in conjunction with the subclaims.

  • 2 shows the ear insert to be assembled from the earmold and plug-in part (module shell) in an exploded view (module shell shown transparently) and
  • Figure 3 is a cerumen protection cap in plan view.

Außerdem umfaßt das Hörgerät 1 einen Traghaken 3, einen Schlauch 4 und einen am Ende des Schlauches 4 angeschlossenen Ohreinsatz 5.FIG. 1 shows a hearing aid 1 to be worn behind the ear, in the housing 2 of which hearing aid components, such as Microphone, amplifier, battery, etc. are arranged. In addition, the hearing aid 1 comprises a carrying hook 3, a tube 4 and an ear insert 5 connected to the end of the tube 4.

The hearing aid 1 is hung behind the ear 6 of the hearing impaired person by means of the hook 3. The ear insert 5 matched to the contour of the auditory canal is largely located in the inner auditory canal of the ear 6 and is therefore hardly visible. The hose 4 is designed either as an acoustic or electrical connection between the housing 2 and the ear insert 5.

It comprises an outer shell 7 with otoplastic 8, a cerumen protection cap 9 and a module shell 10, which contains hearing device components 11 (earpiece), 12 (microphone) and 13 (contact strip), and a socket 14 having. The module shell 10 also comprises a cover 15 with a flap 16 arranged thereon, a sound inlet opening 17 acoustically connected to the microphone 12 and a sound outlet 18 connected to the receiver 11.

Überschale 7 samt vernetzter Otoplastikbeschichtung 8 bilden das Ohrpaßstück 7, 8.The upper shell 7 is formed as a thin shell with an open end face 7 '. The inner and the outer wall essentially have the contour of the inner auditory canal, the outer shell 7 being dimensioned such that it can largely be inserted into the inner auditory canal of the ear to be supplied. Since ear canal shapes can be very different, it may be necessary to coat the outer shell 7 with some otoplastic material 8 in order to finally adapt it to the given ear canal shape. The otoplastic material is applied in such a way that it crosslinks with the outer shell 7 and that it is practically invisible from the end face side. The outer shell 7 together with the cross-linked otoplastic coating 8 form the earmold 7, 8.

The shape and size of the module shell 10 corresponds to the interior of the cover shell 7. When the module shell 10 is inserted into the cover shell 7, the socket 14 is inserted through a corresponding opening 19. The connector 14, which has a thread, protrudes somewhat at this end facing the inner ear from the earmold. A suitable screw cap 9 with an internal thread is screwed onto the outstanding part of the connector 14. The screw cap 9 has sieve-like openings 20 on its end face (see FIG. 3). At the same time, it serves as cerumen protection.

At the opposite end of the earmold 7, 8, a cover 15 closes the open end face 7 'of the module shell 10 substantially flush with the earmold 7, 8. The pivotable flap 16, which is used as an aid for inserting and removing the ear insert 5 into and out of the inner auditory canal, lies in an adapted recess 21 in the cover 15 and is therefore designed to be as inconspicuous as possible.

As already mentioned, the interior of the module shell 10 contains a small number of electrical and / or electromechanical components of the hearing device 1. The resulting space saving in the housing 2 allows either additional new components to be installed in the hearing device or the housing 2 to be smaller overall can be designed.

Eventuell kann auch noch eine Batterie (z.B. zusätzlich zu einer Batterie im Gehäuse) eingebaut sein.FIG. 2 thus shows, for example, a module shell 10 in which a receiver 11, a microphone 12 and a contact strip 13 are arranged. The microphone 12 receives sound signals via the sound inlet opening 17 and converts them into electrical signals. The electrical signals are passed through electrical lines 22, which are connected to the contact strip 13 and run through the hose 4, into the housing 2 for amplification and further processing. The output signals of the housing 2 are in turn passed through lines 22 in the hose 4 back into the ear insert 5. There they are in handset 11 converted into acoustic signals which are passed through sound outlet 18 into the hearing impaired person's ear. Instead of these three components, only two or only a single one, for example only the receiver (outsourced receiver), can be installed. A battery may also be installed (eg in addition to a battery in the housing).

Access to the components in the module shell 10 is possible by opening the cover 15. The lid preferably comprises 15 snap closures (not visible). In this case, the lid 15 would be completely removed from the shell 10 when opened. A hinge connection between cover 15 and shell 10 is, however, also possible.
