Definitions
- the invention relates to an anti-theft tag, consisting of a carrier film for an electromagnetic security element and a record carrier glued onto the security element.
- Theft protection labels of the type described in the introduction are known, for example, from the subsequently published DE 42 23 394 A1. If an article provided with an anti-theft tag - which contains a soft magnetic metal strip as an electromagnetic security element - is carried through a security area delimited by a transmitting and a receiving antenna without the label having been deactivated beforehand by a seller, the securing element is also carried by the transmitting antenna radiated by an alternating electromagnetic field, so that the soft magnetic metal strip is remagnetized with the frequency of this field. As a result, the label in turn emits an alternating electromagnetic field, which is received by the receiver antenna and triggers a theft alarm.
- Conventional labels have a recording medium made of conventional or temperature-sensitive paper, which is usually so translucent that the securing element, ie the metal strip, arranged under the recording medium is easily recognizable.
- a potential Shoplifters can thus easily identify this label as an anti-theft label, either by refraining from stealing the item with the anti-theft label and instead choosing an item without such a label, or by removing the label from the item before unlawfully stolen.
- the label fulfill the function for which it is intended, namely to protect the goods offered in the shop from theft.
- the object of the present invention is to provide an anti-theft label which is not recognizable as such and which looks like a conventional paper label.
- the recording medium is provided on the side facing the security element with a layer which has such low transparency for light waves in the visible range that the security element is not recognizable.
- the main idea is to provide the recording medium on its side facing the security element with a non-transparent layer in order to prevent the security element from being recognizable to the customer.
- this layer is selected such that in the relevant wavelength range of visible light there is a sufficiently strong attenuation by absorption (extinction) or reflection.
- absorption absorption
- reflection also includes scattering of the light in any direction, such as is caused by opaque layers.
- the advantage of the invention consists primarily in the fact that potential shoplifters in particular receive no indication that the label is designed as an anti-theft label. Therefore, you will not think of removing it from the sales facility prior to unlawful removal of an item; the theft is detected by the control devices installed at the exit. Furthermore, the anti-theft tag can be produced inexpensively, since only a relatively thin additional layer has to be applied.
- an opaque color layer can be used as a layer of low transparency. It is inexpensive and unproblematic to produce and causes the light to be scattered by reflection, but also absorbs a not inconsiderable proportion.
- the carrier film with a layer of low transparency, because in this case the labels can also be used to label transparent articles, without them being recognized as anti-theft labels.
- a continuous, narrow strip of soft magnetic metal can be used as a security element: the activated anti-theft security label is used a security gate with transmitter and receiver antennas is worn, and if it is illuminated by an alternating electromagnetic field, the soft magnetic metal strip is remagnetized with the frequency of the alternating field. This causes the metal strip to emit an alternating electromagnetic field that is received by the receiver antenna. After an evaluation of the received signal, theft alarm may be given.
- the strip can also be covered with hard magnetic metal pieces positioned at a distance from one another. If the goods with the anti-theft tag are paid for, the tag is deactivated.
- the label is exposed to such a strong DC magnetic field that the hard magnetic metal tape pieces are magnetized and, due to their magnetic properties, maintain this magnetization state after the DC field is switched off.
- the magnetized metal strip pieces drive the soft magnetic metal strip into magnetic saturation, so that it can no longer be remagnetized by an external magnetic alternating field.
- the anti-theft tag no longer reacts when worn through the security gate and can therefore no longer trigger the theft alarm.
- the layer of low transparency and / or the layer applied to the carrier film consists of diamagnetic or paramagnetic metal, since the metal tape pieces in the known anti-theft labels cause bulges of the label which are not only visible but also palpable are.
- a layer of metal covering the metal strip pieces has such a stiffness that this bulging of the label is avoided, so that a shoplifter also Scanning the label does not indicate that this is an anti-theft label.
- the flat surface of the recording medium caused thereby also has the advantage that the label can be printed without errors, without the contrast of the printing ink being stronger on the bulging areas of the recording medium than on the adjacent areas; there is a complete print image.
- a bulge of the record carrier would cause individual elements of the printhead to lie on the bulge of the bulge when printing on the record carrier and produce a sharp-contoured print image here, whereas the elements hardly come into contact with the areas of the record carrier lying on both sides of the bulge and therefore there is no or leave only weak markings.
- the metal be dia- or paramagnetic, because such materials can only be so weakly magnetized that the label does not trigger a false alarm when it passes through the security area.
- Aluminum can be used here as the metal layer, which gives the recording medium the required rigidity, but which is nevertheless relatively inexpensive.
- a soft magnetic thin film layer applied on the carrier film is recommended as a securing element.
- the layer of low transparency can be dispensed with as a metal layer, since the thin film layer on the label does not produce any tell-tale bulges like the narrow metal strip. This is particularly true when the hard magnetic metal tape pieces required to deactivate the label are replaced by a hard magnetic metal foil which, for example, consists of nickel.
- the layer of low transparency in this embodiment is made of non-conductive and thus non-shielding material.
- the record carrier is designed like a box, the recognition of the label as an anti-theft label is further complicated. Because of their rigidity, labels of this type are particularly suitable for attachment to textiles or the like. through plastic threads.
- the anti-theft label shown in section in Fig. 1 consists of a carrier tape 1, which is made of a conventional paper with a weight of 67 g / m2 and which is coated on the side facing the other layers of the label with silicone. Silicone has the property of having a relatively low adhesive effect on pressure sensitive adhesives. In the present label, this has the advantage that the carrier tape 1 can easily move from one side to the other Pressure sensitive adhesive coated carrier film 2 is removable, which is formed in the embodiment of FIG. 1 as a transparent polyester film and coated on the side facing the security element, ie the metal strip 4, with aluminum (vapor-coated or sputtered) and in the manufacture of the anti-theft label on the carrier tape 1 is glued.
- the carrier film 2 is glued to a recording medium 6, which consists of temperature-sensitive paper and is provided with a layer 5 of low transparency on the side facing the carrier film 2.
- layer 5 is a gray, opaque color layer.
- FIG. 2 If the top view of the label shown in FIG. 1 is viewed and the individual layers that make up the label are partially cut open, the view of the anti-theft tag according to the invention shown in FIG. 2 results.
- the carrier tape 1 the spaced apart, hard magnetic metal tape pieces 3, the soft magnetic metal strips 4 underneath and the recording medium 6 coated with a color layer 5.
- the carrier film 2 made of transparent polyester, which lies between the Metal strip pieces 3 and the carrier strip 1 is only indicated by means of a break line 2 '.
Abstract
