Description

The invention relates to a protective glove, in particular for fire and disaster relief operations and for emergency services.

Conventional firefighting gloves are usually made of leather and are reinforced in the area of the ankles on the back of the glove. Although these leather gloves have pleasant wearing properties, they are not sufficiently temperature-resistant and transmit the heat relatively well to the skin. In addition, the mechanical stability of the gloves is often not sufficient. Leather does not provide sufficient protection when handling sharp-edged objects, such as broken glass. Liquid can also penetrate through leather, which is not only uncomfortable for the wearer, but can also be a health hazard if chemicals or HIV-infected blood penetrate through the gloves.

The invention has for its object to provide a glove, in particular for fire brigade use, which avoids the disadvantages mentioned above.

The object is achieved with a glove of the type mentioned at the outset, which according to the invention is characterized by an outer layer of a heat-resistant textile fiber with low thermal conductivity, an intermediate layer of a cut and puncture-resistant textile fiber and a heat-resistant inner lining with a breathable membrane that is impermeable to liquids in one direction.

This protective glove meets all the safety requirements of a firefighting glove. The outer layer is heat-resistant and, thanks to its low thermal conductivity, ensures that the heat cannot be transferred to the inside of the glove. The cut and puncture-resistant intermediate layer also allows handling with sharp-edged objects, such as broken window panes, sharp-edged sheet metal parts and the like. The unidirectional membrane on the inner lining prevents the penetration of liquids of all kinds, but does not prevent sweat in the form of water vapor from being carried away from the body. The membrane is also breathable, so that overall the glove is extremely comfortable to wear. The intermediate layer can be formed from a fleece made of para-aramid fibers, onto which a fabric made of aramid fibers is laminated as the outer glove layer. For example, the material known under the trade name "Kevlar" can be used as the nonwoven material. The outer layer can be formed, for example, from the aramid fiber fabric with the designation "Nomex". Until now, Nomex fabric was not suitable for gloves because fibers can easily detach from the fabric at the seams. However, by laminating this fabric onto a Kevlar fleece, these disadvantages can be eliminated, so that this fabric can now also be used for glove production. A membrane which is generally known under the term "Gore-Tex" and which can be laminated onto a heat-resistant material is particularly suitable for the inner lining.

To increase comfort, an insert made of an elastic loop material made of para-aramid fibers, which is silicone-coated on the outside, can be provided on the inside of the glove and on the back of the glove in the area of the ankles. The glove then adapts to all movements of the hand. The silicone coating ensures high heat resistance and poor flammability. Further advantages can be achieved in that the glove can be provided with a long cuff that also protects the forearm. For better visibility of the wearer of the glove, strips made of a light-reflecting material can also be applied to both the back of the glove and the cuff.

A preferred embodiment of a protective glove according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.

Durch diese Materialkombination erfüllt der erfindungsgemäße Handschuh sämtliche Anforderungen an einen Feuerwehrhandschuh, wie geringe Entflammbarkeit, Hitzebeständigkeit, geringe Wärmeleitfähigkeit, hohe Schnitt- und Stichfestigkeit, Wasserundurchlässigkeit und Atmungsaktivität.1 and 2 is a finger glove with a cuff 11 which extends far beyond the wrist. Strips 12 made of a light-reflecting material are sewn all round on the cuff 11. This makes the wearer of the glove more visible in the dark. On the back of the glove 10.1 is in the area of the knuckles Insert 13 made of a limited elastic material, from which the inner glove surface 10.2 is also made, is provided. The material layer sequence of the glove 10 in the area of this insert 13 and the adjacent material layer sequences are illustrated in the sectional view in FIG. 3. The glove 10 has an inner glove made of a heat-resistant material 14, which is laminated with a membrane 15 that is impermeable to liquid and breathable in one direction. The back of the glove, with the exception of the insert 13, and the cuff 11 consist of a Kevlar fleece 16 onto which a fabric made of heat-resistant Nomex fibers 17 is laminated. In the area of the ankle insert 13 and on the inside of the glove 10.2, where a higher elasticity of the material is required, the Kevlar fleece 16 is replaced by a Kevlar loop fabric 18, which is silicone-coated on the outside. This silicone coating 19 of the Kevlar loop fabric 18 ensures good heat resistance of the cut and stitch-resistant Kevlar fabric in particular. With this combination of materials, the glove according to the invention fulfills all the requirements for a firefighting glove, such as low flammability, heat resistance, low thermal conductivity, high cut and puncture resistance, water impermeability and breathability.
