Abstract

A vehicle silencer is described. The silencer includes (2) a substantially hollow bullet (54) extending into the silencer chamber, having a plurality of holes formed in it. The said bullet provides gas communication from the chamber to the outlet (6) and reduces noise level and/or changes noise characteristics over a given rpm range.
The bullet is, preferably, in the form of a sheathed inwardly extending outlet tube (50).
A cavity between the sheath and the outlet tube also assists noise reduction and/or changes noise characteristics of the silencer.
