Abstract

A logic and control unit (LCU) (24) is set so that it functions the various subsystems (28, 30, 34, 38, 40, 42, 43, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 76 ), in the electrophotographic marking process. The LCU (24) determines a charge efficiency between a first charging station (28) and a photoconductive element (18), generates a reference voltage on the photoconductive element (18), the reference voltage corresponding to the charge efficiency, operates a first subsystem (28, 28a, 28b, 30) in a non-printing operation to generate a first resulting voltage on the photoconductive element (18) and transfers the photoconductive element (18) to a fixed sensor (50) for measuring the first resulting voltage.
