Claims (6)

  1. Use of a pointed tool having
    - a cylindrical shank (10) on the circumference of which is provided at least one recess (13),

    for puncturing a venting opening in the wall (4) of a paint cup for a paint spray gun, the recess (13) forming a venting channel when after the puncturing of the venting opening the pointed tool (6) is inserted so far into the latter that the recess (13) is level with the region (4a) of the container wall (4) surrounding the venting opening.
  2. Use of a pointed tool according to claim 1, characterised in that the recess (13) extends in the longitudinal direction of the shank (10) over a height corresponding to roughly half the length of the shank.
  3. Use of a pointed tool according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that two circumferential latching edges (15, 16) arranged a distance from one another are provided on the circumference of the shank.
