Abstract
A riding device includes one or more cranks rotatably attached to a base, and a rider support supported on a carrier and movable relative to the base for supporting a rider, the carrier has a front end pivotally coupled to the base with a link and an arm and a rear end coupled to the cranks for moving cyclically relative to the base and for allowing the carrier to be moved in an elliptical action relative to the base by the crank device, and the rider support is supported on the carrier and moved in concert with the rider support for supporting the rider, and an actuating device may be used for actuating the carrier and the rider support to move relative to the base in an elliptical action.
Description
- The invention relates to a rodeo or riding device.
- Typical riding or rodeo devices comprise a drive mechanism having a crank arm coupled to a rider support to simulate the bucking and/or spinning motions of a rodeo animal attempting to unseat its rider.
- However, the drive mechanism is solidly coupled to the rider support with the crank arm such that the rider support may not be moved relative to the crank arm and the drive mechanism in an elliptical action and in different moving stroke.
- The invention is to provide a rodeo or riding device including a rider support supported on a carrier which is movable relative to a base by the user or by an actuating device in an elliptical action.
-
-
FIGS. 1 ,2 are perspective views of a riding device; -
FIGS. 3 ,4 are partial exploded views of the riding device; and -
FIGS. 5 ,6 are side plan views of the riding device. - Referring to
FIGS. 1-5 , a riding device comprises an I-shaped base 10 including acolumn 11 extended from one orfront end 18 of thebase 10, astud 12 extended from the other orrear end 19, acrank device 13 or one or more (such as two)cranks 13 attached to thestud 12 with anaxle 14, and apole 15 attached to the free end of eachcrank 13. Acarrier 30 includes one or more (such as two)levers front end 33 coupled together with a barrel and coupled to thecolumn 11 with alink 16 and apin 17, in which thelink 16 may be directly or indirectly coupled to the column 11 (FIGS. 5-6 ), abar 34 coupled between thelevers rear end 35 coupled to thepoles 15 of thecranks 13 directly or indirectly with apendulum 50 for allowing therear end 35 of thecarrier 30 to be moved by thecranks 13 and to be swung relative to thecranks 13 and thebase 10 with thependulum 50. Ahousing 36 is disposed on thebar 34 of thecarrier 30, and includes apost 38 adjustably secured to thehousing 36 with alatch 39 for supporting arider support 37 and arider 8. - The
rear end 35 of thelevers carrier 30 may be moved cyclically relative to thebase 10 with thecranks 13, and may be swung relative to thebase 10 with thependulum 50, and thefront end 33 of thecarrier 30 is coupled to thebase 10 with thelink 16 and thepin 17 such that thecarrier 30 may be moved relative to thebase 10 in an elliptical action by thecranks 13 when theriders 8 are stepped onto thecarrier 30. Afly wheel 20 is attached to thestud 12 with theaxle 14, afollower 21 is attached to anextension 22 of thebase 10 with ashaft 23 which is coupled to thefly wheel 20 with a coupling belt ordevice 24. An actuating means ordevice 4 includes a pair oflevers 40 having amiddle portion 41 attached to thestud 12 with aspindle 42, and having a first orrear end 43 coupled to thepoles 15 or thecranks 13 with abeam 44 for allowing thecranks 13 and theaxle 14 to be rotated relative to thebase 10 or thestud 12 by thelevers 40, and afoot pedal 45 attached to the second or front end of eachlever 40 for being stepped by therider 8. - In operation, the
foot pedals 45 or thelevers 40 may be stepped by the rider 8 (FIGS. 5-6 ) to actuate thebeams 44 to move thecranks 13 and to move thecarrier 30 in the elliptical action, and thelevers 40 and/or thebeams 44 may act as a means for moving thecarrier 30 and therider support 37, thelevers 40 each may include two or more segments solidly or detachably secured together. Anarm 60 is coupled to thecolumn 11 with apin 61, and thelink 16 has anupper end 64 coupled to thearm 60 with apole 65 which is spaced from thepin 61, and anactuating lever 62 is coupled to one of thecranks 13 and coupled to thearm 60 with arod 63 which is spaced from thepin 61 and thepole 65, and thepole 65 is disposed between thepin 61 and therod 63, such that thearm 60 may be moved by thecranks 13, and thepole 65 or theupper end 64 of thelink 16 may be moved in a curved moving stroke around thepin 61 and movable up and down relative to thecolumn 11 or thebase 10. - The
link 16 may be directly coupled to thecolumn 11 and swung relative to thecolumn 11, but may not be moved up and down relative to thecolumn 11. The coupling of theupper end 64 of thelink 16 to thearm 60 with thepole 65 allows thepole 65 or theupper end 64 of thelink 16 to be moved up and down relative to thecolumn 11 and allows therider support 39 to be moved in the changing or increased or different moving strokes.
