Description

The invention relates to light emitting diode lamps, LED, or "Light Emitting Diode" in English.

More particularly, the invention relates to such a lamp which is intended to be mounted in a fire of a motor vehicle.

Note however that it is not beyond the scope of the invention when the LED lamp is intended for the interior lighting of a motor vehicle or the lighting of a building.

Currently, the lights of a motor vehicle have complex and varied geometries and the integration of conventional LED or bulb lamps requires the use of lamp power supply brackets that are sufficiently flexible.

There are LED lamps that include two electrical contacts to power the LED. These contacts may be simple electrical rods, or tabs, which connect the LED to a power supply circuit by welding. These power circuits are circuit-printed boards, or PCBs, that is to say, "Printed Circuit Board" in English, but these circuits are rigid.

There are also flexible circuits incorporating SMD type LEDs, or Surface Mounted Component, but the methods of mounting these LEDs on these flexible circuits are expensive.

We can also mention the French patent application FR 2,876,965 which describes an LED support comprising two conductive tracks to be joined by welding with said LEDs. But this type of support is not flexible enough to adapt to the current geometries of vehicle lights. In addition, this document describes a connection of the LEDs to the circuit by welding which requires a supply of additional material such as a solder paste or tin.

Other LED lamps have electrical contacts which have a flat shape and which are intended to be clinched on conductive tracks adapted to clinching. The clinching is to assemble permanently two metal sheets by stamping the two sheets placed between a punch and a die. In addition, the current clincher LEDs are mounted on rigid circuits.

The document US 2007/0223241 shows a light emitting diode lamp comprising a pair of contacts having a clinching area.

En outre, les fils conducteurs utilisés ne permettent pas de dissiper suffisamment la chaleur des LED.In addition, there is the Canadian patent application CA 2 562 357 which describes a metal circuit supporting light-emitting diodes, but this support circuit is rigid and does not offer sufficient freedom of LED layout. In addition, this document describes an LED having rod-shaped contacts that are crimped on lead wires. But this method of crimping is not suitable for other types of LEDs such as, for example, LEDs to clincher. In addition, the conductive wires used do not sufficiently dissipate the heat of the LEDs.

There is therefore a need to provide an LED lamp that can respond to the various problems mentioned above.

One of the aims of the invention is to provide a clincher LED lamp that can be easily connected to standard conductor wires.

In addition, this LED lamp must allow efficient heat dissipation for proper operation of the LED.

Moreover, such an LED lamp must be able to be manufactured automatically using a simple and inexpensive method to meet the economic constraints of manufacturing motor vehicles.

There is also a need for a lighting device that uses conductive wires of a standard type and which is particularly adapted to the lights of a motor vehicle having complex geometries, which requires placing the lamps of the same circuit on very different spatial positions.

The subject of the invention is a light emitting diode lamp comprising a pair of contacts for electrically connecting the light emitting diode, wherein the pair of contacts comprises two crimp contacts electrically separated from each other, each crimp contact comprising a conductive input. having a conductive crimp skirt and a clinching zone intended to receive, by clinching, an electrical contact of the light-emitting diode.

Crimping is used instead of welding to protect the lead wires of the support as well as the electrical components of the LED against high temperature exposures that could damage or degrade the performance of the LED.

Each crimp contact may comprise a conductive outlet having a supply tongue electrically connected to said conductive inlet.

Thanks to two additional conductive outputs, LED lamps can be easily mounted in parallel to provide a flexible electrical circuit.

It may also be noted that the size of the supply tongues can be adapted according to the amount of heat that it is desired to dissipate according to the technical characteristics of the LEDs.

This light emitting diode lamp may be intended to be mounted on a support and each crimp contact comprises a fixing means to the support intended to cooperate with a fixing means to the complementary support provided on said support.

Each means of attachment to the support may comprise a planar face extending in a zone under the light-emitting diode, the flat face being substantially perpendicular to the clinching zone and forming an obtuse angle with respect to the clinching zone, said flat face being located opposite the clinching zone and located at a distal end with respect to a central and vertical axis of the lamp.

This flat face makes it possible to fix the LED lamp in a suitable support, and also makes it possible to offer a heat exchange surface to improve the heat dissipation of the LED.

In addition, the arrangement of the plane face with respect to the main axis of the LED makes it possible to disengage the clinching zone in order to leave a free passage for the instruments dedicated to clinching, namely a punch and a die.

Advantageously, each plane face comprises two folds which are substantially perpendicular to the clinching zone and which form two additional flat faces curved towards the inside of the lamp to form a housing in the zone under the light-emitting diode and opposite the clinching.

These additional flat faces increase the heat exchange surface for the LED and their arrangement relative to the LED also allows to leave a passage free of any obstacle for instruments dedicated to clinching. Indeed, the flat face extended by two additional flat faces forms a housing to leave a free passage.

This light-emitting diode lamp may further comprise a plastic holding cap provided with locking means adapted to cooperate with complementary locking means provided on said crimp contacts.

Such a cover maintains the two crimp contacts side by side, but without contact between them, to avoid mechanically solicit the LED once the contacts crimped.

This holding cap may comprise two orifices for holding the conductive outlets, said holding orifices being intended to be traversed respectively by one of said conductive outlets.

These orifices make it possible to electrically separate the conductive outlets from one another. These orifices also provide a guide of the conductive son intended to connect to said conductive outlets. In addition, these holes allow better heat dissipation under the LED.

This holding cap may also comprise two additional lateral orifices respectively opposite the clinching zones.

These additional side ports facilitate the heat dissipation of the LED. Advantageously, one can adapt the size of these lateral orifices to leave a free passage for instruments dedicated to clinching. Indeed, by allowing a free passage to the clinching instruments, one can mount the holding cap on the crimp contacts before the LED is mounted by clinching said contacts.

According to yet another characteristic of the light-emitting diode lamp, it further comprises a pair of conducting wires, each conductive wire being crimped at its first end with the conductive entry of the crimp contact of said lamp and being crimped to its second end with a conduction means adapted to cooperate with a supply tongue.

Such an LED lamp can be easily achieved using an automatic crimping and crimping machine.

According to another aspect, there is provided a lighting device, especially for a motor vehicle, comprising a support provided with a plurality of cells each for receiving a light-emitting diode lamp and wherein said light-emitting diode lamps are connected between they are made of conductive wires so that the conducting wires of a light-emitting diode lamp are respectively connected with supply tongues of a neighboring electroluminescent lamp.

In another aspect, there is provided a coil for an automatic crimping and crimping machine comprising a rim strip, said rim strip being capable of fixing a plurality of light-emitting diode lamps, each crimp contact being connected to the edge strip by said conductive inlet so that the crimp contact constitutes an extension of said edge strip.

Such a coil makes it possible to condition the LED lamps by winding in order to be used by a cutting and cutting machine. automatic crimping. This coil thus facilitates the automatic manufacture of LED lamps. In addition this coil can be easily manufactured automatically using a tool to follow.

In another aspect, there is provided a method of manufacturing a light emitting diode lamp.

This method comprises a step of manufacturing a pair of crimp contacts and a clinching step in which each electrical contact of said light emitting diode is clinched on one of said crimp contacts.

Advantageously, a crimp contact can be made from a metal plate so that the various parts that compose it are obtained by successive folds so that the crimp contact forms a single piece.

According to one embodiment, a mounting step is performed in which a holding cap is mounted on said pair of crimp contacts, said mounting step being performed after the clinching step.

According to another mode of implementation, the step of mounting the holding cap is performed before the clinching step.

In another aspect, there is provided a method of manufacturing a coil for an automatic crimping and crimping machine comprising a rim tape, comprising:
  • a step of manufacturing, from a metal plate, a plurality of pairs of crimp contacts, each crimp contact comprising a conductive inlet and a clinching zone, and wherein each crimp contact is connected to the band; edge by said conductive inlet so that the crimp contact is an extension of the edge strip; and
  • a clinching step in which each electrical contact of a light emitting diode is clinched on said clinching zone of one of said contacts of a pair of crimp contacts.

According to one embodiment, a mounting step is carried out in which a holding cover is mounted on each pair of contacts to be crimped, said mounting step being performed after the clinching step.

According to another mode of implementation, the step of mounting the holding cap is performed before the clinching step.

On a également représenté un axe central et vertical A de la lampe à LED 1.On the figure 1 there is shown a perspective view of an LED lamp 1. The LED lamp 1 comprises a LED to clincher 2 and a pair of contacts 3. There is also a central and vertical axis A of the LED lamp 1.

The clinching LED 2 comprises two electrical contacts 4 and 5 which have a flat shape and which are intended to be clinched on conductive surfaces adapted to clinching, that is to say that the surfaces have a thickness sufficient to be clinched to said electrical contacts 4 and 5.

Ledit support sera décrit ultérieurement à la figure 6.The crimp contacts 6 and 7 respectively comprise two conductive inputs 8 and 9, two clinching zones 10 and 11, two conductive outlets 12 and 13, two fixing means 14 and 15 to a support, and two means for holding the wires. conductors 16 and 17. Said support will be described later in figure 6 .

The conductive inputs 8 and 9 respectively comprise two conductive crimping skirts 18 and 19 intended to be crimped onto the conductive portion of one or more conductive wires. The conductive inputs 8 and 9 are respectively connected to the clinching zones 10 and 11 by two intermediate input tongues 20 and 21.

The two clinching zones 10 and 11 are planar faces substantially perpendicular to the central and vertical axis A and have a surface adapted to the clinchage of the electrical contacts of the LED 2.

The conductive outlets 12 and 13 are power tabs for other LED lamps to mount them in parallel. Indeed, the conductive outlets 12 and 13 are electrically connected to the clinching zones 10 and 11 respectively and thus allow the resumption of the electrical conductivity from the conductive inputs 8 and 9.

The fixing means to the support 14 and 15 respectively comprise two flat faces 26 and 27. The two flat faces 26 and 27 are electrically connected to the clinching zones 10 and 11 respectively. These two flat faces 26 and 27 are substantially parallel to the central and vertical axis A and extend in an area 28 under the LED 2 so that they form an obtuse angle with respectively the clinching zones 10 and 11.

The flat face 26 comprises two folds 29 and 30 which are substantially perpendicular to the clinching zone 10. These two folds 29 and 30 are situated at the respective ends of the flat face 26 and make it possible to form two additional flat faces 31 and 32 from of said flat face 26. Thanks to the first fold 29 can be bent the first additional planar face 31 towards the inside of the lamp, that is to say in the direction of the central and vertical axis A of the lamp, so that this additional flat face 31 comes to be placed behind and against the intermediate input tongue 20. Thanks to the second fold 30 can be bent the second additional flat face 32 to the inside of the lamp so that the second face additional plane 32 comes in front of and against the intermediate output tab 24.

The plane face 26 and the two additional planar faces 31 and 32 are substantially perpendicular to the clinching zone 10 and are located at the ends thereof so as to form a housing 33 located in the zone 28 under the LED and facing said clinching zone 10.

The flat face 27 comprises two folds 34 and 35 which are substantially perpendicular to the clinching zone 11. These two folds 34 and 35 are situated at the respective ends of the flat face 27 and make it possible to form two additional flat faces 36 and 37 from of said flat face 27. Thanks to the third fold 34 can be bent the third additional flat face 36 to the inside of the lamp so that the additional flat face 36 the fourth bend 35 can bend the fourth additional flat face 37 towards the inside of the lamp so that this fourth additional planar face 37 comes to stand in front of and against the intermediate input tongue 21. against the intermediate output tongue 25.

The plane face 27 and the two additional planar faces 36 and 37 are substantially perpendicular to the clinching zone 11 and are located at the ends of the latter so as to form a housing 38 located in the zone 28 under the LED and opposite said clinching zone 11.

On the figure 2 , there is shown a perspective view of a method of clinching an LED 2 on a crimp contact 6 of a pair of contacts 3 of an LED lamp 1 as described in FIG. figure 1 . We reported on the figure 2 some references described in the previous figure.

The crimp contacts 6 and 7 are made of conductive metal, for example copper, and the various elements that constitute them participate in the heat dissipation of the LED. The various elements that constitute each crimp contact are: the two conductive inputs 8 and 9, the two clinching zones 10 and 11, the two conductive outlets 12 and 13, the two fixing means 14 and 15 to a support, as well as the two means for holding the conductive wires 16 and 17.

The LED lamp which has just been described makes it possible to provide a crimping LED lamp.

On the figure 2 two clinching instruments, which are a punch 40 and a die 41, have also been shown. figure 2 the punch 40 is placed in the zone 28 under the LED 2 and the matrix 41 is placed in a zone 42 on the LED 2.

To clinch the LED 2 on the crimp contact 6, the electrical contact 4 of the LED 2 is placed on the clinching zone 10 of the crimp contact 6, and then said punch 40 is placed in the housing 33 and the matrix 41 on said electrical contact 4, so that the electrical contact 4 of the LED 2 and the crimp contact 6 are placed between the punch 40 and the die 41.

On the figure 3 , a schematic view of an LED 2 clinched on a pair of contacts 3 is represented. This view is a view from below with respect to the LED 2. It has also been reported on this figure 3 some references described in the previous figures. There are shown two clinched zones 43 and 44 which are, respectively, the result of the clinching of the electrical contact 4 with the crimp contact 6 and the result of the clinching of the electrical contact 5 with the crimp contact 7.

On the figure 4 , there is shown a perspective view of a mounting mode of a holding cap 50 on an LED lamp 1 as described in the preceding figures. We also reported on this figure 4 some references described in the previous figures.

The holding cap 50 is made of plastic to prevent electrical contact between the crimping contacts 6 and 7, when the holding cap is mounted on said crimp contacts 6 and 7.

This holding cap 50 is provided with locking means, not shown in the figure, adapted to cooperate with complementary locking means, respectively 51 and 52, provided on said crimp contacts 6 and 7.

The locking means 51 and 52 may comprise, for example, "clips" respectively 53 and 54. These "clips" 53 and 54 are locking tongues respectively from the intermediate input tongue 20 and the intermediate tongue of 25. These locking tabs 53 and 54 are folded towards the inside of the LED lamp 1 and are able to clip the holding cover 50 by cooperating with the locking means of said cover 50.

The holding cap 50 also comprises two holding orifices 55 and 56 of the conductive outlets 12 and 13 respectively, as well as additional lateral orifices 57 and 58.

On the figure 5 there is shown a holding cap 50 mounted on the LED lamp 1. It has also been reported on this figure 5 some references described in the previous figures.

When the holding cap 50 is mounted on the LED lamp 1, it improves the maintenance of the two crimp contacts 6 and 7 side by side and thus avoids mechanically stress the LED 2.

This holding cap 50 also strengthens the cohesion between the crimping contacts 6 and 7 and the LED 2 when crimping a pair of conductive wires 60 on said crimp contacts 6 and 7.

These conductive wires 61 and 62 respectively comprise two first ends 63 and 64, two second ends 65 and 66, two intermediate parts 67 and 68, as well as two conduction 69 and 70.

The conduction means 69 and 70 respectively comprise two conductive crimp skirts 71 and 72, and two tongue contacts 73 and 74 each adapted to cooperate with a supply tongue.

The ends 63 to 66 are conductive stripped portions.

The first ends 63 and 64 are respectively crimped to the conductive crimp skirts 18 and 19 of the crimp contacts 6 and 7.

The second ends 65 and 66 are respectively crimped to the two conductive crimping skirts 71 and 72 of the conduction means 69 and 70.

The two intermediate parts 67 and 68 are non-stripped insulating parts and are respectively crimped to the holding crimp skirts 22 and 23 of said crimping contacts 6 and 7. The holding crimp skirts 22 and 23 each allow the wires to be immobilized. conductors 61 and 62 to avoid possible breaks of copper strands of said conductive son at their first stripped ends 63 and 64.

Les orifices latéraux supplémentaires 57 et 58 permettent de favoriser la dissipation thermique de la LED 2.The additional lateral orifices 57 and 58 make it possible to promote the heat dissipation of the LED 2.

In addition these orifices 57 and 58 can be adapted to leave a passage for the punch 40 of clinching to clincher the LED 2 on the crimp contacts 6 and 7 once the holding cap 50 mounted on said crimp contacts 6 and 7.

In addition, the two holding orifices 55 and 56 are respectively traversed by the conductive outlets 12 and 13 and make it possible to separate the conductive outlets 12 and 13, in order to prevent them from coming into contact with one another 12. This electrical separation is carried out by means of a partition 59 placed between the two holding orifices 55 and 56.

Furthermore, when it is desired to mount several LED lamps in parallel, the pair 60 of conductive wires which are crimped to an LED lamp are connected to the supply tongues 12 and 13 of another adjacent LED lamp.

The holding orifices 55 and 56 also make it possible to guide the conductive wires 60 and 61 to connect them respectively to the conductive outlets 12 and 13.

On the figure 6 there is shown a lighting device 80 comprising a plurality of LED lamps 1. It has also been reported on this figure 6 some references described in the previous figures.

The lighting device 80 comprises a support 81 which is provided with a plurality of cells 82. Each cell 82 is intended to receive an LED lamp 1 and each cell 82 comprises means for fixing the complementary support 83. These means fastening to the complementary support 83 cooperate with the fixing means to the support 14 and 15 of said LED lamp 1.

In this lighting device 80, a plurality of LED lamps are connected in parallel so that the conductive wires 61 and 62 of an LED lamp L1 are connected by their conduction means 69 and 70 respectively with the tongues of FIG. supply of a neighboring LED lamp L2.

The great flexibility of the curvature of the wires that connect the LED lamps together makes it possible to easily mount several LEDs in parallel. This arrangement makes it possible to position LED lamps at different spatial positions, so it is well suited to a support having a complex geometry.

On the figure 7 another view of the lighting device 80 is shown. This view is a view from above, the various positions of the LEDs 2 can be noted.

On the figure 8 there is shown a coil 90 for automatic cutting and crimping machine. We also reported on this figure 8 some references described in the previous figures.

The coil 90 comprises a edge strip 91 which is capable of fixing a plurality of LED lamps 1. The LED lamps 1 are fixed to the edge strip 91 via the respective conductive inputs 8 and 9 of the crimp contacts 6 and 7, so that the crimp contacts 6 and 7 constitute an extension of said edge strip 91.

An extension of the edge strip 91 means that the crimp contacts 6 and 7 form a single metal part with the edge strip 91 of the coil 90. Indeed, the crimp contacts 6 and 7 s extend in the direction of an axis B which is perpendicular to the main axis C of the edge strip.

The coil 91 has the property of being able to wind on itself. In addition, the coil 91 can be wound on a winding axis 92 of a support cylinder 93. In addition, the support cylinder 93 may comprise a flexible protection plate 94 placed on the LEDs 2 intended to protect the LED lamps 1 when the coil 90 is wound in the support cylinder 93. This flexible plate 94 may be made of synthetic foam to absorb shocks during movement of said cylinder 93.

On the figure 9 the main steps of a method of manual manufacture of an LED lamp have been represented.

This method of manufacturing an LED lamp comprises a first step of manufacturing a pair of free crimp contacts 100. In this step 100 the pair of contacts is manufactured from a metal plate which is subjected to successive folds to obtain the different constituent elements of each crimp contact.

Then a second clinching step 101 is performed in which an LED 2 is clinched on the pair of contacts to be crimped.

En variante on pourra effectuer l'étape de montage 102 avant l'étape de clinchage 101.A third mounting step 102 is then carried out in which a holding cap 50 is mounted on the pair of contacts to be crimped. Alternatively, it will be possible to perform the mounting step 102 before the clinching step 101.

In addition, a fourth crimping step 103 is performed in which the first stripped ends 63 and 64 of the conductive wires 61 and 62 are respectively crimped onto conductive crimp skirts 18 and 19 of the crimp contacts.

In a fifth crimping step 104, the second stripped ends 65 and 66 of the conductive wires 61 and 62 are respectively crimped onto conductive crimp skirts 71 and 72 of two conduction means 69 and 70.

This manufacturing process can also be implemented automatically.

On the figure 10 the main steps of a mode of automatic manufacture of an LED lamp from a coil for automatic cutting and crimping machine are shown.

The automatic manufacturing method of an LED lamp comprises a first step of manufacturing a plurality of pairs of contacts to be crimped on a shore strip 200. In this step 200 these pairs of contacts are manufactured from a plate metal which is subjected to successive folds to obtain a edge strip 91 extended by the pairs of contacts to crimp. Thanks to the successive folds we obtain the different constituent elements of each crimp contact, the crimp contacts being fixed to the edge strip.

Then a second clipping step 201 is performed in which an LED 2 is clinched on each pair of crimp contacts.

En variante on pourra effectuer l'étape de montage 202 avant l'étape de clinchage 201.A third mounting step 202 is then performed in which a holding cover 50 is mounted on each pair of crimp contacts. In a variant, it will be possible to perform the mounting step 202 before the clinching step 201.

Steps 200 to 202 make it possible to manufacture a coil for automatic cutting and crimping machine. These steps 200 to 202 can be implemented using a tool to follow.

In addition, a fourth step of conditioning the LED lamps in coil 203 is performed in which the edge strip with the LED lamps is wound in a coil support cylinder. During this conditioning step, it is also possible to insert, between a winding axis 92 of the support cylinder 93 and the coil 90, a flexible protection plate 94 to prevent possible shocks to the LED lamps.

A fifth crimping step 204 is then performed in which the first stripped ends 63 and 64 of the conductive wires 61 and 62 are crimped respectively onto the conductive crimp skirts 18 and 19 of the crimp contacts.

In a sixth crimping step 205, the second stripped ends 65 and 66 of the conductive wires 61 and 62 are respectively crimped onto conductive crimping skirts 71 and 72 of conduction means 69 and 70.

In a seventh cutting step 206, each LED lamp is detached from the edge strip by a cutting operation.

Steps 204 to 206 can be implemented using an automatic crimping and crimping machine.
