Description

DOMAINE TECHNIQUE GENERALGENERAL TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to the field of flexible tubes, and more specifically the heads of such tubes.

ETAT DE L'ARTSTATE OF THE ART

Flexible tubes commonly consist of a tube head associated with a skirt, the tube head comprising a neck for extracting a product contained in the tube, while the skirt forms the internal volume of the tube adapted to receive a product.

The skirt is conventionally formed of a multilayer sheet, adapted to exhibit satisfactory mechanical strength and sealing properties.

The tube head is however commonly made by injection of plastic material, which may be unsatisfactory for some applications because of the very aggressive nature of some products.

In order to answer this problem, several solutions have been proposed, including in particular a metal insert conforming to the inner face of the shoulder of the tube head, so as to form a barrier separating the tube head itself from the product contained in the tube and thus protect it.

We can notably quote the document US3260411 which has such a flexible tube structure comprising an insert disposed in the tube head, and shaped to conform to the profile of the shoulder of the tube head.

We also know of the document FR 1 445 014 A a tube whose head is provided with a frustoconical protective barrier, coming into contact with the inner wall of the head.

Such tube head structures, however, are complex and expensive to achieve, the barrier properties of the insert are reduced because of the large plastic deformation to which it is subjected, and prolonged periods of storage of the product can then lead to deterioration. of the tube head by the product.

PRESENTATION DE L'INVENTIONPRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention aims at providing a structure that does not have such disadvantages.

For this purpose, the present invention proposes a tube head (1) adapted to be associated with a skirt (4) so as to form an internal volume of the tube, said tube head (1) having a shape of revolution and comprising a body (11) made of plastic material comprising a neck (3) having at one end an opening (5) through which a product is extracted from the internal volume of the tube and a shoulder (2) connected to a second end of the neck (3 ) opposite to the first end,
said tube head (1) further comprising an insert (6) disposed in contact with said shoulder (2), so as to form a barrier between the body (11) and the product contained in the internal volume, said insert (6) ) comprising a central portion (63) and a peripheral region (64), said central portion forming a non-open disc adapted to close the neck (3), and said peripheral region being mounted in contact with a complementary surface of the body (11) ,
the head being characterized by the fact that the insert is of substantially flat shape, forming part of a cylindrical volume of diameter D and height h, the ratio h / D being less than 0.1, the diameter D corresponding to the diameter of the insert.

The invention thus makes it possible to have a tube head having an insert forming a barrier thus protecting the body of the tube head. of the product it contains, and moreover forming an insulating operculum the internal volume of the tube prior to its first use.

Said insert is formed, for example, of a multilayer material comprising a metal barrier layer.

According to one aspect of the invention, said insert is disposed substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the neck. According to the essential characteristic of the invention, said insert is substantially flat. Such a feature has the advantage of limiting the stresses that brings to the insert conical shapes too marked, that is to say, with a vertex angle too low. Indeed, such forms cause work of the insert during its formation, such work may weaken said insert, in particular its metal barrier layer.

By substantially flat means that said insert has a shape that can be strictly flat or at least the tube head having a shape of revolution, not extending beyond a cylindrical volume of diameter D and height h, a ratio of the value h / D being less than 0.1, preferably 0.08, even more preferably 0.065, the diameter D corresponding to the diameter of the insert.

According to another embodiment, said insert comprises an aluminum disc or ethylene-vinyl alcohol disc
According to yet another embodiment, the body further comprises an internal shoulder enclosing the periphery of said insert against the complementary flat surface of the body.

According to yet another embodiment, said tube head further comprises a plug adapted to be screwed onto said neck, said stopper comprising a punch adapted to allow the perforation of said insert to make an opening in the insert, the opening having a section less than or equal to the internal section of the neck.

The invention also relates to an assembly comprising a tube head as defined above and a flexible skirt associated with said tube head so as to form an internal volume of the tube, said internal volume being isolated from the neck by the insert.

DESCRIPTION DETAILLEEDETAILED DESCRIPTION

The figure 1 has a sectional view of a tube head 1 according to one aspect of the invention,

The tube head 1 comprises a body 11 comprising a shoulder 2 and a neck 3 linked to the shoulder 2.
The shoulder 2 is linked to a skirt 4 forming the body of the associated tube and thus defining an internal volume of the tube.
The neck 3 defines an internal conduit 5 for dispensing a product contained in the internal volume of the tube. In the embodiment shown, the neck 3 comprises an external thread 31 adapted to allow screwing a cap on said neck 3, and a bearing surface 32 which can perform a stop function for such a cap.

The tube head 1 is connected to the skirt 4, typically by overmolding the tube head 1 on the skirt 1, or for example by welding or gluing by assembling the skirt 4 on the previously formed tube head 1, in particular by injection or by injection compression, or by any other technique.

The skirt 4 is typically formed of plastic and / or laminated metal; for example a multilayer assembly comprising one or more layers of metallic material such as aluminum, and one or more layers of plastic.

The tube head 1 further comprises an insert 6 disposed in contact with, in particular bearing on, the shoulder 2, typically in contact with, in particular against, a face 21 of the shoulder 2 facing the internal volume of the defined by the skirt 4. The insert 6 is thus disposed in direct contact against the face 21 of the shoulder 2, this contact being achieved by overmolding the body 11 of the tube head 1 on the insert 6 which makes it possible in particular to fix the insert 6 to the body 11 of the tube head 1.

Said face 21 of the shoulder 2 thus defines a flat bearing surface so as to receive the insert 6.

The insert 6 according to one aspect of the invention comprises a central portion 63 and a peripheral region 64, the central portion 63 forming a non-open disc adapted to close the neck 3 of the tube head 1, and the peripheral region 64 being typically frustoconical, planar, or a combination of one or more frustoconical and / or planar portions extending from said central portion 63.
According to an essential characteristic of the invention, the insert is substantially flat. The tube head having a form of revolution, it is comprised in a cylindrical volume of diameter D and height h, a ratio of the value h / D being less than 0.1, preferably 0.08, even more preferably 0.065, the diameter D corresponding to the diameter of the insert, as illustrated figure 3 where the height of h to be taken into account has also been indicated.
In other words, even if the insert has one or more frustoconical portions, it has a sufficiently large apex angle, especially greater than 80 °, or even 85 °.

La tête de tube telle que présentée est typiquement associée à un bouchon perforateur, par exemple du type présenté sur la figure 2.The tube head as shown is typically associated with a perforating plug, for example of the type shown on the figure 2 .

The perforator plug 7 as presented is reversible; it has a first end provided with an internal thread 71 adapted to cooperate with the external thread 31 of the neck 3 and thus screw the perforator plug 7 on the tube head 1, and a second end provided with a punch 76 adapted to be inserted in the neck 3 and perforate all or part of the insert 6, and more precisely all or part of its central portion 63 closing the neck 3.
In the sectional view shown on the figure 2 it is observed that the punch 76 is dimensioned so that when the perforating plug 7 bears against the neck 3, the piercing end of the punch 76 comes to exceed the position of the insert 6 in the tube head 1 and can perforate it, allowing the user to make an opening communicating the internal volume of the tube and the inner pipe 5 of the neck so as to use the product contained in the internal volume.

The insert 6, and more particularly its central portion 63 thus forms a seal, sealing the internal volume of the tube defined by the skirt 4 and protecting the product contained therein.

In the embodiment shown on the Figures 1 and 2 , the insert has a flat disk shape and therefore does not require plastic deformation steps that would reduce its mechanical properties and in particular the mechanical properties of metal layers of the insert, and in particular its properties allowing it to act as a barrier.

The figure 3 shows another embodiment of a tube head according to one aspect of the invention, wherein the geometry of the peripheral section 64 is composed of the combination of a plane section 65 and two successive frustoconical sections 66 and 67 Alternatively, the outer section 67 may be formed of a folded edge terminating substantially axially, over a short length, typically less than 1 mm, or even 0.5 mm.
As with the embodiment presented on the Figures 1 and 2 , the peripheral section 64 is mounted in contact, in particular in abutment, against a complementary surface of the body 11, while the central portion 63 forms a lid adapted to close the neck 3 of the tube head 1 prior to its first use when which said central portion is perforated at least partially by a punch 76 as presented above.

The angle between the flat central portion 63 and the most inclined section of the peripheral section 64, in this case the section 67 is typically between 0 and 30 °, for example between 10 and 30 ° or equal to 30 °, to simplify the injection for the formation of the tube head. Alternatively or cumulatively, the angle between the plane section 65 and the adjacent frustoconical section 66 is, for example, between 0 and 15 °, in particular between 5 and 10 °.

In this range of values, the mechanical properties of the insert and in particular the mechanical properties of metal layers of the insert, and in particular its properties enabling it to act as a barrier, are not affected. Indeed, the insert undergoes only a small plastic deformation and the rupture of the metal layer is not reached.

The product contained in the tube is thus durably and effectively protected during its period of storage prior to its use, which typically represents most of the life of the tube.

In addition, the fact that the insert 6 is full, and does not have a machined central orifice makes it possible to overcome the problems of centering which necessarily arises during the realization of two successive concentric holes. It is indeed complex and expensive to perfectly center the cutting of the outer periphery of the insert 6 relative to a central bore of the disk thus formed.

Finally, in the case of a multilayer insert 6 comprising a metal intermediate layer, the fact that the insert 6 is perforated only at its first opening protects its metal intermediate layer which is thus not exposed to the product contained in the tube during storage. An example of an insert structure 6 is a multilayer insert of Polyethylene-Aluminum-Polyethylene type.
Indeed, the inserts 6 commonly used to perform a barrier function in flexible tube heads are typically composed of two layers of plastic material surrounding a metal interlayer.
The two layers of plastic material serve to isolate the metal layer of the product contained in the tube, which is likely to oxidize.
Therefore, it is clear that only the edges of the insert 6 expose its metal intermediate layer.
Insofar as prior to its perforation, the insert 6 is a solid disc, only its outer peripheral edge 61 exposes its metallic intermediate layer.
The shoulder 2 of the tube head 1 is advantageously overmolded on the insert 6 so as to cover the outer peripheral edge 61 of the insert 6, for example by forming an internal shoulder 26 enclosing the periphery of said insert 6 against the complementary flat surface of the body 11 and thus protecting the metal intermediate layer of the insert 6 prior to its perforation.

It is well understood that the perforation of the insert 6 by the punch 76 forms an inner peripheral edge of the insert through which the metal intermediate layer is exposed. However, given the life of such a tube after its first use, the risk of degradation of the insert 6 after its perforation is negligible.
Indeed, the shelf life of a tube in its state with the non-perforated insert, corresponding for example to its storage, handling, transport, is conventionally much higher than its shelf life after its first use.
The protection of the insert 6 prior to the first use of the associated tube, and therefore to the perforation of the insert 6, is therefore an important factor in the good preservation of the product contained by the tube, which makes it possible to realize the present invention. .

The invention makes it possible to produce a tight and inexpensive tube head, because the following problems are eliminated:
  • the cutting of the central orifice of the insert 6 which requires a high precision of cutting so that this central orifice is concentric with respect to the outer peripheral edge 61
  • protecting the edge of the central orifice of the insert 6, and in particular the metal layer, vis-à-vis the product contained in the tube.
  • the reduction of the barrier properties of the insert 6 due to the shape of the insert which is substantially plane, at least at its central section 63 which is a critical zone for the protection of the product contained in the associated tube .
