APPLICATION FILED Juruxzo, 1911.

CARLL A. HALLE'IT, 0F RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK.
ANTISEPTIC RUBBER-DAM HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 20, 1911.
Patented Dec. 19, 1911.
Serial No. 634,248.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARM. A. llALLn'rr, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Riverhead, in the -county ol' Sutt'olhr and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Antiseptic Rubber-Dam Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a container adapted to carry rubber dams used in the dental profession to keep saliva from cavities in the teeth while the same are being filled.
An object of my invention is to provide a neat, compact holder from which the dams may be drawn as needed, which holder may be readily closed and which possesses means for carrying an antiseptic solution.
I attain the above outlined object by disposing two cylindrical shells, one within the other, each ot which shells has a slot eX- tending longitudinally therethrough, said slots being brought into alinement, and through the alined slots may be drawn the dams. )ne end of each of the cylindrical shells is recessed to contain an antiseptic vaporizing solution.
lith the above and other` objects in view, as will more fully hereinafter amical', the present invention consists in certain novel details ot' construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this speci tication, in which similar characters oit ret'- erence indicate ncorresponding parts in all the figures, and in whichm Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a preferred embodiment of my invention; Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectional view taken through the same; Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4t is a perspective view of one ot the cylinders.
I have shown asupporting plate 4 by which the device is fastened in position on the wall or other surface by means ot screws- 5, upon which pl ate is mounted a cylindrical shell G having a slot 7 extending through the front edge. One end ot said shell has z. hollow cap S closing said end. In the pocket 9 formed by this cap is disposed a vehicle 10 carrying a vaporizing antiseptic solution. Adapted to telescope into said shell is a similarly-constructed inner shell 11 smaller in diameter than the shell G. The outer end ot the inner shell 11 has a closing cap 12 similar in construction to the closing cap S, and also has an internal pocket 13 adapted to contain cotton or other vehicle to carry a vaporizing antiseptic solution. This inner shell has a slot 14- extcnding the length ot the cylindrical part therco't. adapted to reg-- ister with the slot 7 in the shell Through the alined slots 7 and llmay be drawn the end 15 ot' a roll '1G ot dental dams.
By rotating the shell 1l by means of the cap 13, the slots are disalined and the holder is closed. i
lVhile a preferred embodiment ot the invention has been described, it is to be understood that many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely different cmlmdiments ot this invention could be made without departing trom the scope thereof. It is intended that all, matters contained herein in the above der scription or shown in the accompanying drawings, shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. It is also to be understood that the language used inthe 'Following claim is intended to cover the full scope of the invention and is not to be given any narrower construction than the prior art demands, and that materials, sizes and relativities ot parts are non-essential, except as called 'lor in the claim.
llaving thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
In a holder vfor dams, a base plate, a cylindrical shell mounted on said plate, one end of said shell closed by a hollow cap 'forming a pocket, said pocket adapted to contain an antiseptic solution, and a second shell adapted to telescope within said first-mentioned shell and rotatably` mounted therein, the In testimony whereof I have signed my outer end of said telescoping shell having L name to this specification in the presence of Closed Cap having a pocket therein opening two subscribing Witnesses.
into the shell, each of said shells having a CARLL A. HALLETT. slot extending' therethrough, so that When Vitnesses: i the slots are in alinement, a dam may be GEORGE W. I-InLDREfrH,V
drawn through the same. CORNELIA G. HAvENs.
Copies of this patent may be obtained fol` ve cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D. C.
