To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY WHITE LEE, electrician, and GEORGE HENRY WEEDMAN, electrical fitter, subjects of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, both residing at Mount Morgan, in the State of Queensland, Commonwealth of Australia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Mine- Alarm Instruments, of which the following is a specification.
. The object of this invention is to provide a speedy and efi'ective alarm to be actuated electrically or otherwise for'the purpose of, in case of ground falls, warning. miners who are in or upon the mine, or for like puroses.
By the'devices hereinafter described, the
' slightest movement in the ground can be immediately signaled by means such as alarm bells or electric lights or both in or to the various parts of the mine. In mines without electric apparatus the warning may be by mechanical devices such as bells and I where electricity is used the signaling by red or other lights as well'as bells or other modifications will be preferably adopted as being more effective.
The alarm instrument 1s constructed of a wire-clrcuit and several telescopic or slidably jointed pipes or members of size and description to suit open chambersor drives where there is any danger of a creep or movement of the roof. I

In operation-the members are slidably adjusted and. secured by the thumbscrews so that the fork or any other suitable top por tion is sprung into or impinges against the roof-of the chamber or drive. Any movement of the ground overhead causes: the

number of alarms may be connected together.

The upper members may be telescoped into bottom members and the tripod folded so that the Whole apparatus can be easily moved.
