Description

M. I. JACOBS.
GREENHOUSE GUTTER.
APPLICATION nLnn MAB.1,1911
Patented Apr. ,9, 19-12.
MAURICE ISAAC JACOBS, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
4 GREENHOUSE-GUTTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 1, 1911.
Patented Apr. 9, 1912.
Serial No. 611,696.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAURICE IsAAo J mom, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Greenhouse-Gutter, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to gutters and more specially to gutters for use in the construction of greenhouses.
The object is to provide an improved device comprising a gutter member which can be secured in position without the necessity of drilling holes therein; an arrangement which can be employed in connection with a roof in which glass cut to any proper size can be used; a gutter which will not easily become clogged or obstructed; one so constructed so that the glass cannot slide from its proper position; a gutter which may be employed in connection with any type of wall and one which can be employed in connection with either stationary sash or ventilating sash.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is a perspective view of a portion of the roof of a greenhouse with the gutter properly located. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a detail showing means for connecting one of the roof members with the conducting member at the side of the gutter.
In carrying out my invention I employ a gutter member proper, designated 0;, which is preferably of plain channel shape and which is supported by means of brackets 5, including lower central portion 5, upstanding flanges or side members 6 connected therewith and outer inclined flanges 7. Brackets b are supported at suitable intervals upon posts 10 and the outwardly extending flanges 7 support conducting members which are of trough-like formation and are designated 15. The members 15 have overhanging flanges a designed to engage the upper edges of flanges 6 of the gutter proper a. A rib d is arranged along the upper edges of trough members 15 and serves to prevent the glass when placed in position between the roof members 20 from sliding downwardly into the gutter. The lower flanges of members 15 carry a member 17 received in a corresponding recess 18 in brackets 72. This construction insures the retention of member 15 in its proper position.
Referring to Fig. 2 it will be observed that clips m are shown as being secured to the lower sides of certain of the roof members 20 for the purpose of engaging the lower rib 17 of the trough member 15. Suitchannel, additional flanges projecting outwardly, a drip conducting member located between the flanges, said member having one edge turned over the side of the channel, a bead projecting from said edge, and roof members having their ends supported by the conducting member.
2. In a device of the class described, a channel member, a bracket for supporting the same, a drip conductor connected with the side of the channel member, said conductor being of trough-like formation, a rib projecting from one portion thereof, roof members supported by the conductor, clips connected therewith and \engaging the rib, and a bead on another portion of the conductor and designed to be engaged by the glass of the roof.
3. In a device of the class described, a channel member, a bracket for supporting said member, a drip conductor formed in sections and connected with the side of the channel member, means for connecting adjacent sections, a rib formed on the conductor and engaged by a portion of the bracket, roof members supported by the conductor, and means connected with certain of the roof members for engaging the rib.
Signed at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, this 28th day of February, A. D. 1911.
