Letters Patent No. 105,212, dated July 12, 1.870.
To all whom lil may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. HUPP, of Elwood, in the county of Madison and State of Indiana, have invented a new and improved Clasp for Paint-Brushes; and I do herebydeclare that. the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
Figure 1 represent-s a side view of a brush provided with my improved clasp.
Figure 2 is a detail side view of the clasp.

The object of this invention is to provide paint and other brushes with an adjustable and detachable clasp for holding the bristles together.
My improved clasp is made of metal, and secured to the handle of the brush in such manner that it can be adjusted up and down on the handle to make up for the gradual shortening of the bristles.

B is the clasp. It is ymade of sheet metal, in form of an open ring, which, unless made of steel, isjointed, to be readily opened and closed. It can be closed around the brush, having a hook, a, at one end,\and one or more slots, b, at the other, the hook cat-ching into one of the slots, as in fig. 1.
