NOSE-PROTECTOR.
Application filed January 18, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUs O. BYRON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bristol, in the county of Day, State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nose-Protectors; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to nose protectors, and has for its object to provide a device of this character which may be easily and quickly attached and removed from the nose.
A further object of the invention is to construct the frame of the protector in a simple manner, and to which is stitched a covering of fabric or chamois.
WVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawing: Figure l is a perspective view of the protector. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the frame, the covering removed.
The protector consists of a frame 1, the same being formed from a single length of pliable wire. To the upper ends of the frame 1 is pivotally secured a how 2, the same being formed from a resilient strip of sheet metal. Secured to the how 2 are the inwardly directed nose grips 3. Adapted to be stitched to the frame 1 is a covering 4: of flannel, chamois or any suitable material which will exclude cold. The covering 4 is of sufficient size to entirely inclose the nose when the grips 3 are in engagement with the Specification of Letters Patent.

nose bridge, the device being held in place owing to the resiliency of the metal forming the bow. The covering 4 is further provided with openings 5 which are adapted to register with the nostrils of the wearer to facilitate respiration.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that a protector has been produced which may be manufactured at a small costand is particularly adapted for use in lumbering camps, and by rural letter carriers, or in fact it is especially adapted for use by persons who are exposed to the cold for considerable time.
By forming the frame 1 from pliable wire, the same may be easily bent to conform to the shape of the wearers nose, thus producing a device which when adjusted, effectually protects the nose from the cold.
Owing to the pivotal connection between the frame 1 and bow 2, said frame may be adjusted to more readily conform to the contour of the wearers face.
WVhat is claimed is:
A nose protector comprising a nose grip, a frame consisting of a single length of wire so bent as to form a loop for embracing the nose, the upper ends of said loop being pivotally connected to the nose grip, a flexible shield stitched to the frame, said frame being pliable so that the same may be manipulated to conform to the shape of the wearers nose.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signa ture, in presence of two witnesses.
