To all ecirom it may concern Be it known that I, Smbnnn T. STUVER, a citizen of. the United States, and a resident of Tacoma, in the county of Pierce and State 5 of Washington, have invented a new and Improved shreddingMachine, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates generally to vegetable shredders and more particularly to a new and improved device involving few parts of simple construction, the rotatable element therein being removable whereby a similarelement, but one providing for a different degree of shredding, may be in serted.

The principal object of my invention is to provide a vegetable shredder comprising a suitable casing with a rotatable shredding element mounted therein, this shredding element taking a plurality of forms whereby difi'erentedegrees of shredding may be obtained. 1

upper portion of this casing being provided with an opening, there being a hopper 13 adacent thereto adapted to receive vegetables or other substances. This casing member 11 is preferably frusto-conical in construction, one end thereof being closed' by the member 14 which lies closely adjacent the upper end 6 of the standard 1. The other end of the casing member 11 is open, this open end being the end of larger diameter whereby the revoluble shredding elementlo or 15 may be conveniently placed in position.

The inner end of the threaded shaft 8 is provided with a frusto-conical supporting member 16 having a number of lugs 17 on the outer side and extending normally therefrom, these lugs being adapted to be received in the openings 18 positioned adjacent the smaller end of the shredding element 15 or 15. 1

The shredding elements shown differ from. each other only in the particular form of .blades provided thereon, it being obvious that the construction and operation of the device remain the samewhateverthe form of blade; the blades are easily changed by removing the handle 9 and withdrawin the circular supporting member 16, after w 'ch the shredding element thereon may be taken oil and the other form placed in position.

1. In a shredding machine, the combination of a conical casin having its smaller end closed, and a, shred ing element mounted in'the casing, said element comprising a disk-like-lmeinber having a frusto-conical flan e and a centrally arranged shaft projecting therefrom, said flange being providedwith external pins, and 'an open ended frusto-conical tubular body having peripheral bladesvand pi'ovided with L-shaped openings at its smaller'end, the horizontal portions of the openingsbeing adjacent the smaller end ofthe body and the longitudinal portions extending in the direction of the opposite larger end of said body, the smallerendof the body fittin upon the said flange with the pins thereo engagin its slots and its end closely adjacent the c osed end of the casing.
