invention consists size and minor details of construction, with v o'nrirnn strntrns PATENT OFFICE.
ANTONIO BONGIOVANNI, 0F BARNESBORO. PENNSYLVANIA.
BRUSH.
Application filed June 11, 1914:.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, An'ronro BONGIO- vnxn'l, a citizen of the United States, residing at Barnesboro, in the county of Cambria and State ofPennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Brush, of which the following is a specification.
' The invention relates to improvements in brushes.
The object of the present invention is to improve the construction of brushes and to provide a simple, practical, and eiiicicnt brush, of strong and durable construction, designed for the use of barbers for dusting the face and neck to remove cut hair therefor holding a supply the feed of the same. I
YVith these and other objects in view the in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims appended hereto, it various changes in the form, proportion,
in the scope of the claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
In the drawing :-Figure 1 is a side elevation of a brush constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged central longitudinal sectionalview of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4. is a similar view on the line H of Fig. 2.
Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.
In the accompanying drawing, in whic is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, 1 designates a hollow tubular handle having a removable cap 2 at the upper end and provided with a lower end wall 3 having perforations 4: for the discharge of the contents of the hollow handle. The han- 'dle 1, which is designed to be provided with a removable antiseptic lining 5. is provided at its 11 per end with exterior screw threads 6 and t c said cap 2, is interiorly threaded to screw on the hollow handle. and is adapted to be removed to permit powder to be introduced into the said handle. The cap 2- is preferably provided with a hanger Specification of Letters Patent.

ring 7 linked into an eye 8 of the cap, and adapted to permit the brush to be hung up when not in use. The lower end of the tubular handle is provided with exterior screw threads 9 to engage interior screw threads 10 of a cylindrical valve casing 11. which connects the handle with a cap 12 of a brushhead l3.
The valve casing, which is provided at its lower portion llwith exterior screw threads. screws into an interiorly threaded upper flange 15 of the cap 12. which is also provided with an interiorly threaded lower or outer flange 16. structed' of sheet metal, or other suitable material, tapers inwardly and upwardly from the lower flange 16 to the upper flange 15, and the said lower flange 1G is 'interiorly threaded to engage exterior threads 17 of the brush head 13. The brush head consists of a disk provided with bristles 18 and having openings 19 for dis' charging the powder .into the bristles to enable the powder to be dusted on a person. The upwardly tapered capforms a chamber or compartment 20 located above the brush head and adapted to receive powder from the hollow handle and to enable the same over the top of the brush head, whereby the powder is istributed more or less uniformly t the brush head. The cylindrical valve casing is provided at a point intermediate of its upper and lower edges with a transverse partition or diaphragm 21, having an opening 22 and supporting a rotary valve 28, centrally secured to the partition or diaphragm by a rivet 2st or other suitable pivot. The rotary valve or cut 05 preferably consists of a disk, and it is provided with an opening adapted to be carried into and out of register with the opening .22. The valve or cut off. which is. adapted to cover and uncover the opening 22, outwardly extending handle '26, projecting through a slot 27 in one side of the valve casing 11. The 'slot 27 limits the movement of the valve or cut oil, length to enable the valve or cut off to completely cover and uncover the opening 22 of the partition or diaphragm 21. The upper wall of the slot fits snugly against the periphery of the valve or cut off, so that powder is prevented from sitting through the said slot. The threaded connectionbe- The cap, which is conis provided with an;
and it is of suiiicient 'lower wall tween the hollow handle and the val ing enables the handle to be adjusted range theperforated lower end wall 8 feren-t distances from the rotary valve or out off. This will vary the'amount of powder delivered to the perforated end wall away from the valve or cut off and the partition or diaphragm, the
;'supply of powder will be increased, and an adjustment of the handle toward the valve or cut off will lessen ,theamount of powder delivered to the chamber at each operation of the valve. By this construction the desired aniount of powder may be delivered to rhe brush headat each operation of the valve-orcut 011.. n
What is claimed is l. A brush of the class described including a-brush head, a hollow handle formingv a powder receptacle and provided with. a having anoutlet, and a valve casing connected with the lower-end of'the hollow handle and with the brush head and provic ed with transverse diaphragm having an opening, and a cutoff opening, said handle being adjustable to carry its outlet toward. and from the" cut oil to vary the amount of the feedf 2. A brush of the class described includ chamber 20 at each 'operationof. the valve or cut oil'. 3. A brush of the class described including a brush head ing a chamber, over thecap and provided with a transverse partitionhaving an opening communicating with the said chamber, said casing being provided at the partition with a slot, a cut provided with a cap formarranged to cover and uncover'the opening thereof, said-cut oflbeing provided with an operating handle extending through the said slot, and a hollow handle constituting a powder receptacle and having aperforated lower end wall, said hollow handle being adjustably connected with the valve casing and movable toward and 'from the cut off to vary the amount of ing a brush head having -perforations,-a
