Specification of Letters Patent.
BEAUTY-MA.
Patented May 25, 1315.
Application filed. Dctober 26, 1914. Serial No. 868,687.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK F RANKEL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Beauty-Mark, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to an article which is termed in the trade a beauty mark and which is used by women as a part of their toilet to enhance the attractiveness of their appearance. These beauty marks are usually pieces of black court-plaster cut into, various shapes.
The object of the present invention is to improve beauty marks of the character referred to so as to produce a novel effect and more likely attract observers, the novel feature being the application to the courtplaster of a sparkling stone which is somewhat smaller than the court-plaster so that the marginal portion of the latter-will form a border around the stone. The stone is applied to the court-plaster by any suitable adhesive, and the court-plaster is itself applied to the skin by moistening the adhesive of the court-plaster. To insure a firm cementing of the stone to the court-plaster the bottom of the stone is flat so as to have a large area of contact.
lVith the foregoing object in view, the invention comprises various novel features of construction and arrangement of parts which will be set forth with particularity in the following pended hereto.
In the accompanying drawing, which illustrates certain embodiments of the invention and wherein similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views, Figure 1 1s a. view of a womans face having a beauty mark applied thereto adjacent one eye and the mouth; Figs. 2 and 3 are enlarged sectional Views of modified forms of beauty marks; and Fig. 4 is ail-enlarged edge view of the beauty mark.
Referring to the drawings, the beauty description and claims apmark is shown as consisting of a. piece 1 of court-plaster or other adhesive which may be cut into a varietyof shapes, as shown in the various figures, and on the face 2 opposite from the face 3 that has the adhesive coating is cemented or otherwise fastened a cut stone at which sparkles by the reflection of light therefrom. The under or back surface of this stone is flat so as to have a large area of contact with the adhesive base 1. The size of the stone is somewhat smaller than the adhesive base 1, so that the marginal portion of the latter will form a border around the stone. The court-plaster or adhesive base 1 is preferably black so as to contrast with the stone.
In applying the beauty mark it is merely necessary to moisten the adhesive coating on the under surface 3 of the base 1 and press such surface against the portion of the face where the mark is to be positioned. As the court-plaster is considerably larger than the stone the latter will be more firmly held in place than if the adhesive base were of the same diameter as the stone.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A beauty mark comprising a cut spa-rkling stone, and an adhesive base to which the stone is firmly secured, the under side of the base having adhesive for attaching the beauty mark to theface of the wearer.
2. A beauty mark comprising a stone, and a court-plaster base to which the stone is fastened, the back surface of the base being provided with adhesive coating and the area of the said base being larger than the area of the stone, whereby the margin of the base forms a border around the latter.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK FRANKEL.
