l/WE/V TOR Ewan/i Dun/2 WITNESSES:
llhlllEU @TAlEd PATENT UfflDE EDWARD HERBERT DUNN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO KAPLAN, FRANK 8c DUNN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A COPARTNERSHIP COMPOSED 0F EDWARD I-I. DUNN,
ISIDOR KAPLAN, AND ISIDOR FRANK.
GAP.
Application filed April 19, 1915.
of the city of New York, Far Rockaway, in
the county of Queens and State of New lork, have invented a new and Improved Cap, of which the following is a full, clear,
and exact description.
My invention has for its object to provide a cap with a pocket having a flap and dis posed over a vizor, it being possible to hold the pocket and flap down against the vizor so that the pocket and flap will be concealed, and the pocket with its contents will be supported by the vizor.
Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred formof my invention is disclosed.
In the drawings similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the views in which Figure 1 is a perspective View showingmy improved cap; Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view showing the construction of the pocket, and Fig. 3 is a similar fragmentary sectional view showing the position of the pocket when the cap at the pocket is secured to the vizor.
By referring to the drawings it will be seen that the cap is provided with a body 5 and a vizor 6 which are constructed and are secured together in the customary manner, the body 5 of the cap above the vizor 6 being provided with a pocket 7 formed by a piece of cloth 8 secured to the bottom of the body at 9 adjacent thevizor 6. To the upper portion of the outer side of the piece of cloth 8 there is secured a piece of cloth 10 which is of the same material with which the body 5 of the cap is constructed, the upper portions of the pieces of cloth 8 and 10 being secured at 11 to the inner side of Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 23, 1915.
Serial'No. 22,314.
the body 5 of the cap, the sides of the said pieces of cloth 8 and 10 being also secured to the body of the cap. The body 5 of the cap is continued over the cloth 10 at 12 thus forming a flap 12. This flap 12 has a fastening member 13 provided for locking with the fastening member 14011 a piece of cloth 15 which forms a continuation of the front of the body of the cap. It will be understood that when the fastening member 13 is free from the fastening member 1 1, the
flap 12 may be raised to permit the insertion of coins, money, matches, or other members in the pocket 7 between the piece of cloth 15 andthe piece of cloth 8, and that when the flap 12 is lowered it may be secured by the fastening members 13 and 11 to the piece of cloth 15 for closing the pocket. \Vhcn the pocket. 7 has been closed in the manner which has been set forth, the front 16 of the body 5 of the cap in which the pocket is formed, may be pressed against the vizor 6 as illustrated in Fig. 3 of the drawings, and when so disposed, the front 16 of the body 5 of the cap may be held in position by the fastening members 17 and 18.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A cap having a vizor, a pocket in the cap above the vizor, a flap for closing the pocket when raised above the vizor, and means" for holding the cap at the pocket against the vizor for supporting and concealing the pocket.
In testimony whereof I have slgned my name to this specification in the presence of the two subscribing witnesses.
EDWARD HERBERT DUNN.
