Description

R. B. FAGEOL.
AMUSEMENT'DEVICE FOR'BATHERS.
APPLICATION FILED AUG 11. 1915.
l 1 90 x43. Patented July 11, 1916.
WIT/V598 ROLLIE B. FAGEOL, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
AMUSEMENT.DEVICE FOB BATHERS.
Application filed August 17, 1915.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROLLIE B. F AGEOL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Amusement Devices for Bathers, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to an amuseporting frame attached to the buoyant support, whereby the user may sit on said supporting frame or lie on the same and be sup ported on the surface of the water.
With the above mentioned and other ob jects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claim hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction within the scope of the claim may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
To more fully comprehend the invention, reference is directed to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a view in plan of an embodiment of my invention, disclosing the buoyant support and the body supporting frame in the center thereof. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a view in detail of a portion of the buoyant support, disclosing the ridges there on caused by the bending thereof into circular form.
Referring more particularly to the several views of the drawings, wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts,1 is a suitable buoyant supporting frame, preferably tubular in cross section,
Specification of Letters Patent.-
Patented July fl, 1916'.
Serial No. 45,890.
providing the air containing chamber 1, and circular in form, and the same is approximately six feet in diameter, so that a person lying diametrically across the same will be enabled to rest their head on one side and their feet directly opposite. The buoyant support is preferably of metal suitably coated and is either stamped or bent by any well known process into any suitable shape.
Positioned in the open center 2 of the buoyant support 1 is a suitable body supporting frame 3, consisting preferably of the intersecting members or straps 4: detachably secured at their opposite ends, as at 5, around the buoyant support. A central member or rest 6 is secured to the supporting frame members or straps 4 at their intersection, and the sameis retained in position on the straps, preferably by the stitching 7 which extends longitudinally of the side edges of the straps.
It is to be understood that any suitable body supporting frame may be employed, either to completely close the open center of the buoyant supporting frame, or one which partly closes the same, as in the drawing; and it is desirable that the edges of said supportingframe or a portion thereof be se cured in any suitable manner to the buoyant support.
The device is preferably coated with a suitable waterproof paint which will preserve the same.
It is to be understood that the buoyant supporting frame may be made in any suitable configuration, either in plan or cross section, and either with an air chamber or of a material capable of floating, the form illustrated enabling the device to be set on edge and rolled on the beach from place to place, as desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is A device of the class described, comprising a rigid annular frame providing a buoyant support, a body supporting frame within the opening in said annular support and comprising flexible intersecting members eX- tending across said opening, with their ends passing around said supporting frame, and detachably secured to the main body portion of their respective members, and a flexible In testimony whereof I have signed my seat carried at the intersection of said memname to this specification in the presence of hers and of a less area than that of theopena subscribing Witness.
v ing in said annular frame, and provided ROLLIE B. FAGEOL. 5 with intersecting channels through which Witness:
said frame members pass. D. B. RICHARDS.
